Man the NFL can't buy a break.

In all seriousness, this is total BS. While I am not a Muslim in faith, there was no justification for the ref penalizing this guy for practicing his religious right when other Christian athletes do it all the time.

He was penalized for sliding on his knees after scoring, not for the actual praying. It says so right in the article.

It would be so awesome if the players went back to the era where when you made a big play it was part of the game and something you understood you were EXPECTED to do. PAID to do. Got a sack? Awesome...thats why you got paid 2 million...now where were you on the other 48 plays asshole?

In the NFL's defense, they've said it was wrong to give the penalty.

the article is passing along what he thought he was penalized for. The NFL has since explained the flag was for the prayer, and it was an officiating mistake.

When I played and someone beat you, you tipped your hat. The smack talking and celebrations were considered out of line.

Act like you have been there.

You forgot "then crush them on the next play":lamo

Let me know when we see the consistent outrage from the Tebow taliborngains that the NFL is anti-prayer.

Oh, wait, its not their religion, so they can just be hypocrites.

NFL said it was a bad call and bad calls happen in a game.

Let the cries of faux religious persecution begin.

Perhaps the ref had no idea he was praying as opposed to being theatrical? I haven't read the story, but I generally don't rule out ignorance as the cause of a mistake.

If the ref thought it was showboating he wasn't far wrong.

Where are those two at?

If you think that no Christian player ever knelt down in the end zone, you haven't been watching football very long. If it makes you feel better:

There's Tebow in the endzone. The rule, according to the NFL, has a religious exemption and the league has said that Abdullah shouldn't have been penalized.

Christian players have been penalized, too.

For praying ????? When????

Don't get me wrong I'm a big fans of athletes thanking God for success on the field. But I'm also for everyone religious rights being treated equally.
