We are now bombing in Syria.

No, most of the, "anti-war", crowd was, "anti-Republican", not, "anti-war".

Also not true. Being involved in that crowd... Most were "against dumb wars". Most were for bombing Afghanistanm but against a country that literally had nothing to do with 9/11 or the "war on terror".

Now that The Messiah
Are you a Christian? Did Jesus come back!?!? If so I'm ****ed!!!

has sent a few rounds down range,
Uhh you must of forgot Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan.......

along with directly circumventing The Constitution,
Again.. You must of forgot several bills passed in early 2000... But then again, your forget those as long as there is Obama is in office.. (welcome to the "War on Terror")

for no other reason to boosr his poll numbers, you're all for it.
Again.. Im against these actions. Im just not an idiot throwing around ****ty rhetoric.

No he didn't. That's a bigger lie than Dan Rather's fake AWOL story.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. "I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way." "Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution." "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!" I've talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution "a goddamned piece of paper." And, to the Bush Administration, the Constitution of the United States is little more than toilet paper stained from all the **** that this group of power-mad despots have dumped on the freedoms that "goddamned piece of paper" used to guarantee.
Bush - Constitution 'Just A Goddamned Piece Of Paper'

Oh now I get it. Boosting Poll numbers is the no no. I bet you think no other Presidents have done such a thing before.
I am not as surprised as the Right by Obama's hawkish behavior, he has been quite clear that he has no problem going after terrorists anywhere they reside. That's why I feel a whole lot safer with him in charge. Bush used terror attacks to boost his poll numbers. I prefer that we do the attacking. We have already blown up 41 of our Humvees that Isis had captured. I'm sure glad Bush sent them over there or what would we blow up ? Camels?

US, Saudi, and UAE fighter jets have struck oil refineries within Syria under ISIS control.

The UAE F-16 strike force was led by a female...

Alright first off:
1.)The vast majority in the anti war movement (myself being involved in it), was not against "war" itself, it was against "dumb wars" wars that were for 1.)a national resource, or 2.)a war that was all around dumb

2.)Obama's "war doesnt", if you are against the recent rounds of bombing beause of this, thank GWB and the "war on terror"

You approve of this war because the President has a "D" behind his name.

See looks hot.

So...you can't show us what part of The Constitution gives Obama the power to make war, without congressional approval?

Presidents are not allowed to declare war, that is the job of Congress. Congress: Do your job!

Congress has not declared war since 1941, yet we have managed to put of military in harm's way, almost without break since. So, unless you can show us or tell us this has troubled you for the past 70 years, your silence on this takes away your right to find this objectionable now. I, for one, do find this objectionable. All wars should be declared by Congress and taxes should be raised every time we go to war to pay for it. We should only do wars that the American people are behind and what better way to show they are behind the war then there express willingness to pay for them (which, I bet, would mean far fewer wars and balanced budgets)

I agree that Obama needs congressional approval. However, Congress is no where to be found and has run from this issue faster a deer being chased by coyote. We are suppose to have brave man, un phased by tough decisions, running FOR Washington; but we instead have cowards running from Washington (that pretty much sums up what is wrong with our government). Someone has to do their job. I am glad Obama is at least trying to do his.

Good point. Congress went home and forced the president to do what he has done because of politics and the election.

The future irony will be that the Ebola outbreak spread throughout Isis ranks and annihilated everyone . . . along with 1/4 the world's population.

That would be killing two birds with one stone.

I've never called Obama a wimp. I called him a *****. This little expedition will elevate his status as a *****.

Well we tried the tough guy approach and it got 4500 of our troops killed, cost us trillions and Iraq is still a freaking basket case and always will be. Remember the prisons are filled with tough guys and our prison would be endless war in the Mideast if you war pigs had their way. "Day of judgment calling. Underneath the war pigs crawling. Begging mercy for their sins. Satan laughing spreads his wings." Black Sabbath had it right my friend.

I'm all for bombing " ISIS " Although i think adding boots on the ground may be more effective, but why is the attack only on Syria and not so much focus on Iraq? They have managed to take over cities in Iraq, wouldn't be a good idea to wipe them out wherever they operate? Can someone explain why there is not much emphasis on taking out isis in Iraq?

If left up to incompetants like Obama, the body count will be in the hundreds of thousands. We learned thar lesson from WW2, where we lost 450 THOUSAND. It was the tough guys who had to save our asses.

FDR was a liberal too but the isolationist GOP kept him from acting when the war would have been more manageable. Yes the tough guys are needs when the **** hits the fan. Remember Nixon and Johnson both screwed up in Viet Nam and they where opposite points of view. Niether side has a monopoly on stupidity my friend.

I guess it's a good thing that FDR didn't put sanctions on anyone that drove them to attack a harbor anywhere. I guess it's a good thing that FDR realized that economic sanctions are an act of war.

Wait..

Sorry about getting in this one on one spat but you are equally dead either way of you ar war and a Dem or a Rep is in office. War should be avoided at all cost but when we do lets hope we do it right.

We are now blasting ISIS in Syria. I am watching it on the TV right now. It think it is about time. I am a known liberal and was against invading Iraq in the first place because Saddam had the place under control but we did and ISIS was the result so lets get them. What say you?

That's some pretty in-depth analysis right there.

You're part right and I'm proud of you for doing that well:

1) It's true that isolationists prevented American entry into WW2, until it was totally out of control and we lost over 400 thousand Americans because of it. It's false that was, "The GOP", that was soulely responsible for that...there as many Leftist isolationists.

2) Johnson screwed the pooch in Vietnam...Nixon didn't.

The last count I heard was 258 sorties. We aint blastin' a damn thing.

You are right on that one. i don't think air power alone will do it.

Wait..

Sanctions are an act of war? I was unaware that the US is obligated to trade with any country.

Well, if you get attacked for it, apparently somebody believed so.

Good morning, Aunt Spiker. :2wave:

That would be justice! Ironic that there are few things smaller than a virus, but they are far more powerful than we are, as we have been shown from time to time! I hate to think that 1/4 of the world's population might die, though, but I believe that the universe is fair and balanced, and Karma always has the last word in rewarding - or punishing!
