We are now bombing in Syria.

Point out the part of The Constitution that allows the president to do what he wants, when Congress doesn't let him have his way.

...wow, you really do operate simply out of hatred for Obama..... I wanted to debate the simple aspect of who is stepping up in the current crisis and you seem to want to simply complain about Obama. Your current point is not germane in the least to our discussion/

To bring this full circle, I was pointing out that he was the only government official actually on the job as the US contemplates what to do about ISIS. Congress (who, BTW, we pay over $100M per year in salaries alone) are cowering in their home districts, far from the press that are willing to provide a megaphone for the voice to heard (which they don't want to have happen, because they are cowards) have shirked their responsibilities of leadership.

No where in the Constitution does it give the President power to act as a dictator; on the hand, Congress has the responsibility to declare war. To declare war, they have to debate war... and they have shirked responsibility. When one branch of government choose NOT do their job; its good to know someone is willing to pick up the slack.

That all said, I hate the imperial presidency, but we have allowed it to grow and grow over the past 50 years. No one had a problem with it until now. The reason the Cons have a problem with it now is they know they will be shut out of the White House for at least 20 years....

So...you can't show us what part of The Constitution gives Obama the power to make war, without congressional approval?

"I'm normally anti-war, but because it's a Democratic president declaring war...I'm all for it."

Not always. I though Clinton made a mistake in Yugoslavia while ignoring Rawanda. I thought Lynden Johnson screwed up plenty and while I like what Harry Truman stood for he did mess up a few times in Korea.

Why aren't the anti-war folks screaming their heads off for Obama's arrest for violating the Constitution?

Excuse me. I have heard several powerful conservatives praise him. Didn't GW Bush do the same thing? Wasn't he the one who changed the law?

Weren't you guys calling him a wimp a few months ago? Give me a break and make up your mind. It is not like conservatives have not ignored the constitution a few times. Remember the Communist witch hunts and the war on drugs.

Do you guys really think you can make political hay out of this dream on. It seems to me congress went on vacation without voting on this while people where getting beheaded. Give me a break.

The Obama war criminal is already responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent women and children and this week he has added to his list of death.

Stop with the hypocritical BS. Didn't GW Bush's little war cause this mess in the first place? Last time I checked their was no Islamic extremist in Iraq when Saddam was in charge. He was a bully but he kept the basket case together. What happened to him? Oh that right he was hiding WMD everywhere. Not.

Popular opinion is irrelevant.

They explicitly said we needed to coordinate with them.

Isn't that the argument you guys use with legal pot and gay marriage? Maybe if you righties paid more attention to what Americans wanted you would not be in so much trouble outside the bible belt.

If you quit doing drugs your posts might make more sense.

Obama has had months to take action.

I've never called Obama a wimp. I called him a *****. This little expedition will elevate his status as a *****.

No, Bush didn't change The Constitution.

I wonder if Assad can see the writing on the wall. He's toast.

It boogles my mind that these middle eastern dictators don't see the length to which America will go to protect its oil money. The guy is a walking corpse, and I don't think he's even aware.

I really think he believes the Russians have the clout/will to save him.

In what way?

In what way?

If Syria up and decided to start selling their oil only in dollars, like their neighbors do, you would see this whole conflict suddenly and magically go away. The USA would back off, and Assad would be our new best friend in the fight against the rebels/ISIS.

But since it comes down to the almighty dollar, Assad will have a bullet in his head by the end of the year. Maybe an American bullet, maybe a rebel bullet, but his government is undoubtedly going down.

I think if Assad went down, that would leave Syria in worse chaos and turmoil than Libya is experiences today. Assad has the forces on the ground that if we and him did work together probably could roll up ISIS in a fairly quick manner. But that won't happen as we won't work with him. It also has been reported that part of the agreement to get the 5 Arab countries to join our little bombing campaign was that we agreed not to bomb Assad's forces.

Also Assad has the backing of both Putin and Iran. This bombing can only help Assad as it weakens ISIS and some other rebel forces. But without troops on the ground to root these folks out after the bombs have fell, bombing may become just an inconvenience to them. But it would not surprise me if somehow the good old USA found a way to get rid of Assad which probably as far a troops on the ground goes, is our best hope. Then chaos and turmoil will reign. Perhaps that is the plan all along.

Alright first off:
Why aren't the anti-war folks screaming their heads off for Obama's arrest for violating the Constitution?
1.)The vast majority in the anti war movement (myself being involved in it), was not against "war" itself, it was against "dumb wars" wars that were for 1.)a national resource, or 2.)a war that was all around dumb

2.)Obama's "war doesnt", if you are against the recent rounds of bombing beause of this, thank GWB and the "war on terror"

No, Bush didn't change The Constitution.

Yea he only called "just a G'd damned piece of paper" and I think the word was "quaint".
The "Decider" also decided what torture was and the Geneva Convention be damned.

Obama has had months to take action.

So now he waited too long? I'm confused. Call up your Congressman. I bet he is for it. I thought we all wanted to get ISIS? Now dissing Obama is more important? Good luck with that..

This is another one of those undeclared wars. And the worst part is that this paper thin excuse to prepare to overthrow Assad. BTW, we do not have Assad's permission to do this.

No one is "dissing" Obama. We're only calling it like it is.

No he didn't. That's a bigger lie than Dan Rather's fake AWOL story.

No, most of the, "anti-war", crowd was, "anti-Republican", not, "anti-war".

Now that The Messiah has sent a few rounds down range, along with directly circumventing The Constitution, for no other reason to boosr his poll numbers, you're all for it.
