Hundreds Of Thousands Turn Out For People's Climate March In New York City

The problem is that truly making a difference in Co2 emissions requires some sacrifices on the part of people and corporations. Sacrifice is not popular even if it is necessary. Traditional market forces will not work in reducing Co2 emissions, governments must step in.

This protest is just one example of why you are wrong. I think in principle most Americans and others around the world favor cutting Co2 emissions, its a matter of mobilization. We see with the US that its efforts to reduce emissions have been costly and ineffective thusfar, what makes you think that new government regulation will work any better?

Quite possible the biggest climate march in history was held today in NYC! But what they are protesting for (policy changes to offset climate change), is all a farce! :lamo

If five thousand people show up for a Tea Party rally, it's National News on every network! But one wonders if Fox News even happened to take notice that 300K people marched about climate change....

Well then, since government itself is a rather large consumer group, let them lead by example. Let them require all government employees and elected officials make those sacrifices.

All of us must make those sacrifices together. How are Govt. employees going to wean us off coal fired electricity? That must be done if we are to be serious at all. coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel in more ways than just Co2 production. Tar sands are a close second.

In general, conservatives groups have generally been good about cleaning up after themselves. How often do you hear of a Tea Party rally where the place that it occurred was left trashed afterward?

Wrong-wing rallies have tended to be very much otherwise, and this is a typical example. In this particular case, it is unusually ironic and hypocritical. Supposedly, they were rallying to express concern about the environment, and while doing so, they trashed the environment in which they were rallying.

Maybe this would be better news if liberal organizations didn't use hundreds of buses to bring people in.

Dunno, why don't you watch FoxNews for us and tell us.

Good point.

Why do people think those who don't ascribe to liberal views, all watch Fox?

Maybe this would be better news if liberal organizations didn't use hundreds of buses to bring people in.

Yeah, conservative organizations never, EVER did that, did they? And btw, have you got some proof that there was some large, coordinated effort to bus people in? Or is it simply beyond the possibility that in a city of 8 million people - where most people use public transportation anyway - that 300K of them just might have used public transportation to get there?

No, we don't. In reality those who talk most loudly about the need are the last to sacrifice. because doncha know they just have to use those petro fuels and dollars to spread their message. Make ALL govt employees walk the talk, senators and congressmen included. If they are made to sacrifice first, I'll guarantee we'd see a sea change in pace and transition most riki tik.

Yeah, because there's almost double that who are unemployed in the city itself and they have plenty of time on their hands.

That is not the point. The Earth's climate is constantly changing, it does not remain static. The Earth has been covered in molten rock, and it has been covered in ice. Is it still warming, or cooling now? Do we have the power to change the planet's climate? I think not. So self important...

I asked you if the world's climate is warming. I didn't ask for a posturing display of arguments against what someone else said some other time.
Is climate warming real?

It was an international event. Nanny McPhee on her day off, led their march.

Thats it 'Peoples' as in the common usage by Communists.

US Communist Party Wants You To Join Them In Their Fight For Climate Justice | Real Science

"People’s Climate March, NYC Sept. 21

The climate change struggle, and related environmental struggles, have become more important over the last few years, and will become even more so as climate change exacerbates storms, forest fires, water stresses, fishery collapses, and other environmental problems.

People around the world, and right here in our country, increasingly feel the effects of climate change. Hundred-year storms and droughts now occur almost every year. The entire state of California is suffering from prolonged drought. Funds to fight fires are running out due to the increasing number and intensity of forest fires especially in the West."

Yup propagandist scare tactics that will scare the people into Communism.

I see you all are discussing the Climate Garbage March. Guess all those folks left the streets in a mess covered in litter. Yes those greenies love Mother Earth so much they can't seem to find a trash can when needed.

But then again, many of the same folks bused in for this event were probably part of the Occupy Wall Street groupies who seem to have a lot of time on their hands. And how can we forget all the cities across the country that were trashed by these green loving anti-capitalist lefties?

Occupy-wall-street-trash.jpg

And remember Obama's "GREEN" inauguration at the Mall?

obama+fans.jpg

These green loving, anti capitalist, big government lovin, lefties left over 100 tons of trash on the ground after that event.

So come on tell us all how much you love this planet one more time, cause everywhere you all gather you trash it.

Most of that looks "bio-degradable". :lamo

I see you just believe the OP without reading the attached link for the poster's accuracy.

and more than 550 buses carried in people from around the country.

These are the buses they know of. What do these charter buses hold? 60 people or more, right? 60 x 550 = 33,000.

What a bunch of stupid idiots. Usually when videos like this are done they have to through a hundred or so individuals to find the morons. But I think this video is the exception.

I bet most people on FOX are natural climate believers. So why would they care what a bunch of man made global warming fairy tale believers protest about other than maybe to make a video making fun of socialist envirowackos?

I see nothing inherently wrong with this. I do believe global warming is a thing, but that does not mean that the government should do anything. If these people stopped petitioning the Government to step in and regulate and appeal straight to the companies that they believe are ruining the environment, this could be fought much more effectively. The US government can only do so much. If, on the other hand, people work together to force the hand of large corporations by using market forces, then this issue could be solved much more efficiently.

Is there any kind of environmental legislation you would support? Even reluctantly as a matter of pragmatism?

I got a chain email from Catholic United to join the march. It looked like a good turnout for such short notice.

Hmm... Are you saying there's no evidence that the world's climate is warming?

Are these people protesting natural climate change warming or alleged man made climate change warming?

It has been changing the past 4.5 BILLION years. Who did they blame for the 2nd ice age?

You got the answer, I'm not into the boxed in political talking points that you are looking for.
