N.J. senator Cory Booker aims to strip pro leagues of tax-exempt status

Tres Borrachos mentioned that the Senate should be working on more important things--I mentioned a few of those which you don't like.
Please try to be more honest with context the next time you launch a drive-by at me "liked" by Moon.
Do you have to apply your own tangent to every topic?
This is about sports leagues and their tax exempt status as trade groups.

Do you have anything to offer this thread AliHajiSheik, besides repeating the thread title?

As well, anyone who doesn't see the transition/segue between the NFL and sports betting is out of the loop,
as you apparently are .

Actually I don't care about the other issues you think I don't like. As a thoughtful person on such topics, I would like to know what other trade group that does good works would be impacted on a change of the law to go after sports leagues.

Sorry, I forgot how sensitive you are to having your tangents pointed out. I tend to not see them because I stay out of the Partisan forums you enjoy.

Yet you didn't say this same thing to TRES, did you AliHajiSheik?

By all means, please proceed with specifics versus generalities.

Which has nothing to do with this thread but equals your criticism of me, which I have shown is off-base .

I agree, but on the other hand, passing this bill would create a new source income that could make it easier to focus on those more important issues.

It would not create any more revenue. The NFL does operate in a for profit manner and without profit no taxable income would be generated.

I should have said "very" sensitive.

Tres made a reference to other things, you went off on a whole diatribe about McConnell.

If you want to debate my thoughtfulness on a subject, then I await your wisdom.

You and others are just licking your chops about taxing the NFL and others have pointed out that teams and players pay all their taxes, it is merely the NFL as the trade group which is the league is except as per the tax code. If Mr. Booker is going after just the league, then I need to see the language so that I can evaluate its impact on other groups also except under the same tax code.

"How has your day been"? "Did you hear what Mitch McConnell said now"?--not a very interesting conversation.

Booker's approach on this bill is hilarious:

OFFICIAL TITLE AS INTRODUCED:
A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to eliminate the specific exemption for professional football leagues and to provide a special rule for other professional sports leagues, and to provide an additional authorization of appropriations for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act.

I'm quite surprised he didn't add additional appropriations for the Prevention of Using Immigrant Children for Livestock Food Act.

I should have said "very" sensitive.
We all see who is "very" sensitive--you who drove by first.
Tres made a reference to other things, you went off on a whole diatribe about McConnell.
Most folks don't call Present Moment Awareness a diatribe--so yer wrong again.
If you want to debate my thoughtfulness on a subject, then I await your wisdom.
As soon as you present some of that thoughtfulness, let me know.
Until then, I'll be expecting your continued drive-bys.

You have never seen me say this so stop putting words in my mouth and lying.

I'll anticipate your learned knowledge.

It is with 48 days to go--and what does Mitch think of this topic in the Senate--besides his usual filibusters?

But to finish, you go well beyond anything you accuse of me.
I now know how to speak back to people like you .

Immigrant Children?

I still await a post from actually on this topic. I'm not driving by, I'm right here responding to your posts.

Present Moment Awareness seems more like Tourette's Syndrome to me.

You are correct, you did not specifically say on this thread that you wanted to tax the NFL, but you did accuse them of blocking NJ from having sports better. That is Federal Law, not the NFL gets to determine that, but yet, the NFL is on record as not supporting this. I accept your correction.

My day doesn't hinge on what Mitch McConnell thinks, says or does. Perhaps you can post his opinion on when he does express an opinion. As I understand it, I think we have to know what Mr. Reid thinks about the topic. He does control the agenda in the Senate. When either of them express an opinion, why don't you get back to us?

From the best I can tell, there are no people like me here.

Keep Calm and have a nice day.

I don't think so. I doubt taxing the NFL will generate much if any revenue.
