An astounding 72 percent of Americans say they are unhappy with Republicans in Congress, according to a recent poll.President Barack Obama and the Democrats fared a bit better. The poll, conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News and released last week, found that only 54 percent and 61 percent said they disapprove of Obama and Democrats respectively.
Republicans' approval rating has been terrible for years, and Congress as a whole is almost universally disliked.

Moral of the story is this, they both suck, one (The GOP) just sucks more than the other.

I tend to believe both sides are as bad as each other, certainly as being corporate sellouts.

BUT

I do also believe this.

Democrats edge out Republicans on the incompetency scale, Pelosi, Reid and people like Rangel still being around is a travesty, these people are just terrible politicians.

But without a shadow of a doubt, when it comes to straight up bat****, balls deep insanity, you need only look to the fringe members of the GOP congressional body.

Gomez, King and Bachmann are primary examples of this phenomena.

You're close, but actually, the moral of the story is that they both suck, however the media does everything they can do to cover for the others so those that are too ignorant to think for themselves believe that the Republicans are actually in charge of the government and blame them for all the problems, since that's what the media tells them - like HuffPo, WaPo and ABC.

Good analysis. You left a few off of both lists, but you made your point, which I agree with for the most part.

I'm a Green, not a Dem, and it looks to me that Republicans have obstructed Congress trying to make Obama look bad. They are supposed to be doing the work of governing, not developing PR for negativity campaigns. The Republicans have gummed up the works and most everybody knows that. I presonally view Dems and Repugs as the same thing sold out to different but similar interests to the detriment of the overall electorate.

I disapprove of the Tea Partiers, and relatively enjoy everyone else. I think it is important to consider the opinion of the American public, but in terms of Congressional approval, they are utterly hopeless. Long-standing polls indicate that the American public largely likes their own representatives and disdains everyone else. The American public also thinks that Congress needs to get stuff done, and yet, does not want to create a situation in which Congress can get things done.

Again, you, "The People", are full of crap. The politicians are largely doing their job of representing you and doing it well. If it looks like chaos and ineffectiveness, it's because you want it that way.

The Democrats in the Senate have been just as, if not more, obstructive when it comes to not even allowing bills to reach the floor for a debate much less a vote from the Republican House.

What you said is not completely inaccurate, it just echoes the left and the media's propaganda that blames one party that only controls one half of one branch of the three branches of the government. By that standard, the minority party should be nothing more than rubber stamp for the majority party. What's the point of elections then? Just hire a bunch of people that agree with each other and tell the citizens that we're just screwed so we need to just bend over and take it.

IF Congress has single digit approval ratings, how can only 72 percent show disapproval?
