Ray Rice's Wife, Janay, Defends Him and Rips Media In Statment

I'm not changing the topic. I was taking note of an inconsistency in principle that liberals all seem to share. If a man is a felon they have no problem with a business having their first amendment rights protected, but if the individual is a protected class their first amendment rights go out the window.

Again...you are creating a false equivalency. A person can control whether or not they are violent felon. A person cannot control their sex or skin color. We, as a society, have made the decision that it is not OK to discriminate against people for certain things that are not within their control. We do believe that it is OK to discriminate against people who act violently and endanger the well being of other people. Your false equivalency of the two what is the issue. There is no inconsistency in believing business cannot discriminate against people for the race or sex while believing they have every right to discriminate against people who have shown a propensity for violent acts against defenseless people. Trying to equate the two is beyond ridiculous.

The news media reported the incident and all the outcry and outrage that built up after it, much of it fed by news reports, that finally led to the ridiculous and excessive outcome that hurts even the woman it was supposedly protecting. No, they didn't have to. God knows they can ignore important news when they want to.

I'm calling BS on the coach. He's trying to get our from in front of the blowtorch over why his initial assessment of punishment was so "lenient".

No, what makes the NFL wrong is the fact that the punishment is so excessive. And they made it excessive because they are cowards, mau maued by the screeching, sanctimonious protectors of women out there.

There was never any question that Rice deserved to be punished. What we are talking about is excessive punishment, a lynching ginned up by an angry mob in which you guys so willingly participate. Even the person he punched is saying, "Stop this."

Most likely they'd lose half the players in the league if they fired every abuser. They need to come up with a punishment that better fits the crime and have the strength of character to stick with that rather than trying to appease all these grievance groups and busybodies. Like I said, if he were just some ordinary guy who punched out his wife for the first time he'd get a fine and probably be sent to counseling or something. I call for punishment in line with what ordinary guys would get. What is happening is an injustice.

The NFL punishes someone for because they have shown a propensity to commit violent acts against defenseless people without remorse and the NFL are the cowards?????? I blame the NFL for not doing due diligence on their initial investigation but to say suspending Ray Rice is the media's fault and the NFL shouldn't have suspended him for at least a whole season is mind boggling. Ray Rice is the coward. He was the one that proved he is capable of remorseless, unmerciful violence against people that cannot hope to defend themselves. Whatever punishment Ray Rice gets can only be blamed on Ray Rice.

Of course she is. If Ray ain't raking in the millions that hurts her lifestyle significantly.

I think that this punishment is a little severe, but I don't think his suspension lasts past this year. He's 27 now, so he's got a good 3 years left as a running back. More than that if he's a backup.

The ADA or DA should be investigated in Atlantic County - who is btw Prosecutor Jim McClain. There was a video of an assault and he decided to brush it under the rug. They cut a deal very quick. It's certainly curious.

If he did a complete and full investigation,
it should have included videos of inside and outside the elevator where a felony crime was committed.

Why did Rice get a sweet deal?

Potential new development regarding the NFL's alibi that it had not had access to the Rice video...

From The New York Times:

A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

If this story is accurate, the NFL Commissioner not only failed to carry out due diligence in looking into the matter, but spun the story once the video became public to shift the blame from his initial failure to impose adequate punishment.

What she wants is moot. I don't want to watch a sport that glorifies scumbags.
The video of that scumbag hitting her is a huge PR problem.

He deserves a major ass whoopin'

I wouldn't call it excessive to boot someone who abused his wife. You may think beating your spouse until she is unconscious is no big deal but most people do think it is a big deal.

...which surprises me, because he had to know it would eventually come out that they had it.

Busybodies? What a pathetic attempt to defend this piece of crap.

He plays a sport. Sports do not produce a product. They only produce entertainment for sports fans. If the sports fans are discussed with your bullying of women you have lost your sales value. Your team does not wanting you around and hurt the other players and organization sales.

I guess Rice and you learned something called responsibility about your actions. Your momma isn't here to tell you that its the media's fault for you slugging the mother of your child.

That's the million dollar question. Why isn't anyone else concerned that the justice system failed? The justice system is supposed to protect society; the NFL isn't.

The justice system acted according to established guidelines.

Well, I'm starting to think people think that Goodell himself hit her in that elevator. The NFL isn't supposed to be in charge of punishment, but this seems to be a nationality calamity that the NFL didn't "act" more than they did. Why are people getting all worked up about Goodell, the NFL, and who knew what when. In other words - who cares?

IMO, this latest news, particularly the fact that the AP heard the voicemail, is deeply troubling.

It has seemed to me for a while that there has been an undercurrent of media frustration with Goodell. They couldn't lay a glove on him. Now they have a chance, and they've gone full hyena.

I just stared a thread. Guess who is going after him now? Congress.

Yikes!

What is your point in telling us that all of these people are Democrats?
Besides the fact that you've been supporting goodell all through this?

And how is this any different from the congressional hearings on steroids?
Spousal abuse throughout the NFL will affect the bottom line for years--and that's how these guys get fired .

No one thinks this quip about goodell hitting her in the elevator is funny.
This statement alone shows how dismissive you are of domestic abuse as the problem it is .

But you are not assuming Goodell is correct....are you?

Janay Rice defends husband Ray Rice, rips media - Chicago Tribune

I wonder if anyone in the news media and all those sanctimoneous busybodies who think of themselves as protectors of women talked with Janay about it before destroying her husband's career.

Naw. They wouldn't have cared.

I could almost buy that B.S. if it weren't for how Rice acted after he punched her in the head. A man who wasn't accustomed to beating on women would have put his hands on his head and mimicked a, "WTF did I just doooo????" Not him. Not macho man. He drug her out of the elevator like she was a dead steer in a slaughterhouse.

She pushed his buttons knowing full well he'd snap. That's what some women do. That's what she did. Because if she wasn't that kind of whore, she'd have had his ass thrown in jail.
