Fake Cell Towers Allow the NSA and Police to Keep Track of You

If the voters were willing to do that, we'd have thrown the bums out a long time ago, and would have overturned the unconstitutional asset forfeiture laws by now.

Seriously, read my actual posts please. I'm not talking about not knowing anything and I'm still not talking about the existence of the Stingray and similar devices.

The article opened with claims about mysterious fake phone towers around America causing suspicious activity on people's phones. Those claims don't conclude exactly what technology is being used in them or who is behind it (though obviously government authorities are suspected). The article goes on to talk about more specific uses of more specific technology but that's somewhat separate from the initial claims.

My only point is that nobody should automatically assume all of the scary claims about the extent of these fake towers are entirely and unconditionally true when they all seem to originate from a company with a vested interest in stirring up fears about this kind of thing (legitimate or not). It's not a denial, just a note of caution. Just because someone doesn't work for the government doesn't mean they can't be lying to you.

I agree - but sometimes an issue pushes people too far. I don't think this issue is the one that does it by the way, but, we can only hope sometime soon an issue will come along that outrages everyone.

They say that you should never talk about religion or politics in polite company. Perhaps it's time to change that. Americans have become largely disengaged from the political process, and many of those who remain engaged are so fiercely partisan they perpetuate the cycle of disengagement by driving other more moderate voters away from the discussion. Think about it.. how many discussions have you seen on here that have degenerated to name calling and stereotyping? Maybe it's time to re-engage in a nonpartisan and well-resoned manner, both online and in person with your friends and acquaintances.

Maybe it's time to get people to realize that too many on both sides of the aisle are bought and paid for by campaign donors, because even the weel-meaning that are surrounded by crooks are forced to spend their time fundraising instead of governing.

9/11 outraged everyone, and what was the response?? The response was to empower government and move us toward an authoritarian police state - and the peasants rejoiced!!

The problem is 'everyone'... the population has been so severely dumbed down, that they don't have the intellectual and pyschological makeup to understand liberty, reject authoritarian stratagems and schemes, and make a firm stand in holding the line against government creep and encroachments upon liberty.

The progressives have infiltrated government and our institutions, and have imposed a dumbed down curriculum that is designed to produce ignorant, controllable citizens. This procress has been going on for decades; and now here we are, morally and fiscally bankrupt, and nearing the end of the government even having to pretend to pay homage to the Constitution or the rights and liberties of the citizens.

It's sad, but freedom in Amerika is all-but dead.

Unfortunately, the outrage only seems to extend to the other guys' representatives and senators, etc. The people seem to have a blind spot when it comes to their own or they don't see a good alternative to re-electing their own.

And there is that thing I call the frog syndrome: a frog placed in hot water will immediately jump out. But if you place it in cold water and gradually heat it, the frog will accept the gradual changes until it is boiled to death.

The Teddy Roosevelt administration set the forces in motion and it began to become evident in the FDR administration. Beginning with the minimum wage set first set in 1938, we have allowed the government to bit by bit, inch by inch, take control of our lives. It started with a mandate of how much we were required to pay people who work for us and then that we MUST save for our old age by contributing to social security. And then over the years it has extended into other mandates of workplace conditions, accommodations, who we were required to hire, at one point how fast we could drive our cars, and ultimately what kind of toilet or light bulb we would be allowed to have, and more recently the kind of health insurance we were required to buy. And every one of those things should have been left to the states to do.

By starting off small and seemingly inconsequential, the people were gradually lulled into complacency as the federal government took more and more power and chipped away at our liberties, and we're now all now pretty well boiled and at the mercy of the federal government in every aspect of our lives including our privacy that was once considered sacrosanct. And in the process they effectively took away our will to care enough to be outraged.
 
What's even more insightful is for the past week, the media and many people have been so concerned over Ray Rice and the NFL in America. So much outrage about the NFL and the players getting away with assault without much of a penalty. The focus has therefore turned to how everyone should be concerned over domestic abuse - and rightly so - domestic abuse, domestic assault and other variants do impact millions of people in the U.S. yearly.

YET...

These fake cell phone towers effect essentially every single person in America and there is little to no outrage at all.

This is how tyranny arrives. Tyrants in robes give other tyrants cover for doing things to us that should cause a rebellion.

It is time to stop our worst enemy, our own government. Article V is the way. Demand that your state legislatures petition the Congress for a Convention of States to propose amendments.

Or select the designer chains that best fit your personality.

Frankly I have not had any expectation of privacy on an electronic device for about a decade now...

The thing is, there's no way to stop it.

Oh, you can say we need laws that prevent it. But I no longer believe that the government follows it's own rules...unless it wants to.

What might fix it would be information security strong enough to prevent anyone who wasn't you from viewing your information. So far as I know, however, that does not exist and has no real chance of existing any time soon.

So the only other option, IMO, is to basically ignore the mfers and do your normal **** anyway, screw em if they can't handle it.
