McDonnells convicted of corruption

Presentation was made that Gingrich is NOW not of Fox - notice I did not say he never was on Fox.
Note my next post...

(My emphasis for morons who cannot read or comprehend properly)

See how that works? But I do agree... your self ownage is quite amusing. Care to continue it? :popcorn2:

good to see that you now acknowledge your error, and recognize that gingrich had been on faux news, and was captioned as a faux news contributor
despite the embarrassment of being found wrong in your assertion, i am confident you will continue to try to defend your error as one of semantics
hopefully, the mcdonnells will not similarly refuse to admit their failures. but then they do not have the excuse of semantics as their own alibi

I acknowledged that you misinterpreted my statement due to lack of reading comprehension.

This thread is turning extremely partisan. Corruption is a bi partisan endeavor. Democrats, republicans, and independents have their corrupt politicians. No one is immune from corruption.

It is a partisan matter regrettably.

When Democratic politicians are convicted of a crime the party and voters disown him.

When GOP politicians are convicted of a crime, the party runs him for president and he gets a show on Fox. Witness Gingrich.

let's just direct them to the final paragraph of post #12, with this photo:

and let the readers decide for themselves who committed the FUBAR

Better yet, let's let readers read ALL of my posts and then laugh at your insipid accusations. :lamo

Keep digging. I'm loving it!

get a new thesaurus

"insipid" is NOT a synonym for "factual"

but then after reading post #12 it will be obvious to the reader that you would not know anything about facts

I don't need a thesaurus to know "insipid" like your posts in this thread is accurate. Not willing to let the readers decide for themselves and need to dig your hole deeper? By all means please continue....

all they need to do is look at post #12

I can't believe Ockham is still pretending Gingrich didn't work for Fox News, despite his ethics violations. Fox is the Elysian Fields of conservatives convicted of crimes or caught in an intern's bed.

I honestly think McDonnell will wind up as a Fox analyst.

I've never said such a thing.

I honestly think McDonnell will wind up as a Fox analyst.
That's nice...

If they believed they were innocent, they should not have taken the pre-trial deal, no matter how generous. I don't have a problem with the defense strategy from the standpoint of a defense lawyer, but McConnell selling out his wife to save his own skin is unconscionable for someone the purports to put family first.... obviously, he isn't about family values (even if it is true, as it means he neglected his wife, which is not a family value). He was pretty much admitting he was a liar no matter what he did here.

Or he was putting on a front because he was a role model. "Hypocrisy is the lubricant of civilization." --Crane Brinton

First, I'm not comparing Spitzer to McDonnell with regards to their convictions - your accusation of false equivalence is therefore incorrect. You apparently missed the entire point.

McDonnell knew the limits, he knew what the law stated and he took the money, gifts, etc... anyway. Just another corrupt politician who deserves jail.

Let's see, you responded to:

Yep, McDonnell's felony conviction will probably not bar him from a bright political future in the felony-haunted GOP, which has the likes of Gingrich as its leading spokesmen (and presidential contenders). It seems to be a habit among conservative republicans to gravitate toward felons.

With this:

You mean like this guy from CNN and now HuffPo?

:lamo

Faceofbachman spoke of the GOP gravitating toward felons, to which you responded with a "like this guy", who I pointed out was not a felon... so the "like this guy" was not appropriate, so I responded with:

False equivalence. The poster to whom you responded referred to a felon. Spitizer may have been caught red-handed with his .... in his hands, but is not a felon. We have moral infidelity compared to criminal infidelity. They are different things.

You have may have THOUGHT you said one thing, but forgive me for reading this as your attempt at equivalence. I am not responsible for reading things you did not write; you are responsible for direct interpretations of what you did write.

Comprehension problem - thank you for demonstrating it yet again. Faceofbachman spoke of FOX NEWS gravitating towards felons, not the GOP. How some of you get through the day is beyond me.

Unfortunately I cannot assist you in comprehending what I said though in this thread. That you're sticking up for another far left view - totally expected. That my view has gone over all of your heads also expected.

Please don't bait with video's and pictures.

Don't mean to derail the Gingrich thread but Bob McDonnell can take comfort in knowing that he will still be able to be rewarded for doing favors in prison.

I despise politicians who've been given the people's trust through election who turn around and abuse that trust for personal gain. It happens far to often, in my view, and serious penalties should be meted out to these two. Nothing short of double digit jail terms would be sufficient to both serve justice and to serve as a lesson to any others who may be thinking along the same lines.

And to think, at one time, Bob McDonnell was considered a leading contender for the Republican Presidential and/or Vice-Presidential nomination. Such betrayal is disgusting.

Taking some slush money is one thing but I still can't comprehend he got giddy over seeing a Rolex watch. What the hell. And then for his wife to get giddy all over a shopping spree.

They both knew it wasn't proper to be taking these kind of expensive gifts knowing damn well there were big strings attached.

These two got caught because they both have the IQ of a butter dish. How many other politicians knew how to accept gifts discreetly and have enjoyed the "perks".

Well, I see this thread took the predictable turn into "WHARRRGARBL DEMOCRATZ R MOAR KURUPT."

McDonnell either has a terrible lawyer or is a terrible client. He received an offer to plead guilty to one count (with minimal jail time), and it would have spared his wife completely. Instead, all sorts of dirty laundry gets aired, he gets nailed for a whole bunch of charges, AND he tried to throw his wife under the bus.

I asked a litigator friend of mine how such an apparently intelligent man with good lawyers could make such a boneheaded call as to turn down that plea deal. His response: "Ego."

It seems like there is an awful lot of that going around lately!

Good Sunday morning to you, Jack, and Happy Birthday! :2wave:

We need special prisons for elected officials who do this kind of stuff. Someplace where they are held in a VERY public facility so that everyone can see just what happens when you violate the trust of The People as an elected official.
W ealready have special places for people like that. We call it 'Congress'.
