TORONTO (AP) -- Canadian police say pop star Justin Bieber has been charged with dangerous driving and assault after a collision between a minivan and an ATV led to a physical altercation in southwestern Ontario.

Yea, they should have arrested him for assault as soon as he first opened his mouth to sing. The good news for Bieber is that he will be in court instead of in concert..... Wait, that's not good news for Bieber. That's good news for the concertgoing public. BWAHAHAHAHA!!

Bieber is desperately trying to be the male version of partying Lindsey Lohan.

What does it say about ones musical career when their arrests get more publicity than their albums?

Hail the Ontario Provincial Police!

Assault is one charge, but I am told the Conservative government, under a new anti-terrorism initiative, intends to outlaw Bieber all together. It is against the law to take his Canadian citizenship way, as most of us seal clubbers on the frozen tundra would like for both him and Celine de selfish, so the next best thing is put him on the restricted substances list....

We will cheer this great event when it occurs in our own polite way, a lot of pot and beer and a good hockey game with lots of goals, goons and gore.

You know you are a wimp when the Beebs whoops yer azz.

I'm no fan of his music, but no one can deny Bieber has been incredibly successful in his early career, statistically more successful than any other artist at this age. He's also incredibly popular with his fan base and in the entertainment and PR world, that's really all that matters. He comes from a relatively poor, single parent background and accumulated massive wealth and attention at a very young age and that's clearly given him a false sense of his own importance and like many young people in similar circumstances they aren't very good at handling it and those around him don't seem to be able to help.

I'll give him some slack on the assumption that he'll grow out of his rebellious stage as most young men do.

he like many other young musicians falls out of favor once your target demographic grows up. It happened to Brittany Spears just to name one. Many other examples. The only one that I can think of that sorta kinda kept her audience was Maddona, and whether you like her or not, respect has to be afforded.

The modern age of the recording industry?

Na, hell Vince Neil killed people in a Pantera.
Brett Michaels from Posion killed someone with a Ferrari 358.
Sid killed Nancy.
Johnny Cash set a forest fire.
The list goes on.

This is true, but I don't think he's lost his audience yet - he seems to be growing with his demographic.

Ah...John?

That's very liberal thinking. :angel?:

I can't think of one song by him that I know of.. But then again I'm 46, so? My daughter 9 doesn't like him, says he's too girly. :)

Youre just defending him because he's a Canuck, like you. ;)

Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, ACDC, Hank Jr, and many more most popular at their personal worst.

Oh and you read minds too!

I know John, he is one of the last people in here who would blindly defend something for "patriotic" reasons.......then again you are not aware that in Canada "patriotism" is considered unseemly

It was a joke, hence the smiley. Chill out, have a donut.

All publicity is good publicity, eh?

No, I'm defending him because I'm a Canuck - we try not to be overly judgmental. If you can find a comment of mine where I've criticized the private life of an American, or someone of another nationality, you're point may be valid - but I bet you won't find one.

You're right, and it could be that he was told or advised that if he wanted to stay popular as he aged he would have to develop a "bad boy" image to put away the teeny-bopper past. Seems to be what Miley Cyrus is trying to cultivate. Who knows, maybe it's all "any news is good news" PR. It's an odd road for him to take, however, since he seems about 5'4 and 90lbs and will forever have a little boy face.

That's a funny thing with Canadian celebrities. When they're strictly Canadian and virtually unknown in the US, we're always pushing for them to get recognition in America and perplexed if they don't but as soon as they make it big in the US we start to lose our affection for them and criticize that success.

I believe it's a definite Canadian inferiority complex at play, but we are getting better at accepting success on the world stage.

Run of heroin addiction will fix that face.

I bash Bieber not because I am interested in his personal life, but because it is fun. I can't think of any other musican here in Houston who doesn't also get a kick out of bashing Bieber. We do it because his music is pretty much dumbed down and shallow. LOL.

Hey, speaking of musicians in Houston, did anything come of our Mayor Ford's visit last year and his suggestion that your summer music festival could spend some time here in Toronto, kind of a cross border exchange of emerging talents to broaden exposure?
