Obama: No interest in border 'photo op'

Texas Governor Perry was hoping for a serious discussion with our childlike president on the illegal alien problem at the border and according to the article, manchild laughed during the entire meeting instead of having a serious discussion.

Oh I see, that sucks. Reminds me of the time Bush, with a mouthful of bread hollered, "yo Blair, come her". And a prominent London paper the following day ran the headline, "yo Bush, he's our prime minister, respect him".

In general, the press shows up wherever the president may be, with photographers in tow.

That isn't true with Obama. His photo ops are all carefully orchestrated with hand picked photographers. He doesn't let the press run the photo ops.

Whether its true or not, Obama maintains that his physical presence on the border would not improve the situation. Also, the press pages are full of photos of Obama meeting with legislators and businessmen as well. But, like the left did to Bush all the time, you've picked a photo of Obama shooting pool to "prove" that he's disinterested in the border problem. And finally, NO president has taken the border problem serious, and as long as policy is driven by big money, none will.

If other presidents had passed executive orders granting blanket amnesty to illegal children that led to a flood of illegal children across the border then I would expect him to be taking it more seriously. This crisis is of the president's own making.

How can the president control the gang violence in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala that is pushing refugees toward us?

What's up Rick Perry's but??

His state's borders are overrun by tens of thousands of illegal aliens who have to be packed into pens for lack of ability to deport them which is leading to outbreaks of disease. He should be laughing?

So that is the new excuse? That region has been the tops of the violent crime stats for years. This flood of illegals is primarily children who are coming here to get amnesty under Obama's "Dream" executive order, not gang violence.

Bull****. Plain and simple. Ike did. So did Kennedy and Johnson and even Nixon.

Sorry. I was raised in San Diego and lived there during all those administrations, the border has always been porous, with only band-aid border patrol coverage.

You haven't a clue what was said that prompted the others to laugh.

J!? You haven't seen me defend Obama's border policies. What you've seen is me pointing out that no president, congress or party has taken border security where it needs to be, some better, some worse. Border security is counter productive to big business, and both parties pander to big business. Much as you want to make decades of border woes, amnesty, lax penalties on employers who hire the illegals, etc., all Obama's fault.

I am making the effects of Obama's executive orders Obama's fault. The reason the border is at a crisis point is because the numbers have dramatically increased and the population flooding across the border are primarily unattended minors who can't be left to their own devices even if we wanted to.

Yes, the border has always been porous, all the more reason why you don't issue an executive order that entices children to cross the border illegally.

This is a crisis Obama has created.

There's plenty of Obama photographs taken by the press that he isn't orchestrating, as example, the one above that you all seem to be poking fun of, wouldn't have been a "photo-op". Anytime a president declares amnesty to illegal immigrants, its injurious to America. Obama isn't the first, that's not a defense of what Obama has done and is doing. I'm pissed about it too. The difference, I've been pissed about the numbers of illegals that have been allowed to come here and in at least one case, given amnesty, for decades now, not just when it's a democratic president that fails to secure our borders.

So I point out that there is nothing funny about the current border crisis and your defense is it might have been a really good joke?

The point sails over your head.

Obama is responsible only for his actions, and they are harming us as a nation. But decades of loose border policy has done untold harm to us. Lets hold ALL administrations responsible for the crisis arising out of unsecured borders, and not forget about this decades old problem as soon as a republican becomes president again. IOW, you keep on bitching when the next republican president fails to secure the border, too!

Anything funny, unrelated to the current border problem may have been said, you don't know. Obama was in Texas to meet with the governor of Texas during a border problem of near unprecedented magnitude.

The true believers are going to obfuscate and deflect every valid point you make. They are ecstatic about the destruction of the culture because they think it validates them personally. The majority of their posts are obviously just mindless nonsense and not to be taken seriously by Americans.

Well, no, he was in Texas for some fund raisers and only decided to meet with Perry after he was ridiculed for doing nothing.

Ironically, the initial plan by the Obama team was to only meet Perry on the tarmac when AF1 landed to get a photo op. It was at that point that Perry rejected the offer and stated publicly that he would rather meet Obama for serious talks about the border:

“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,”

That meeting that you are seeing pictures of were not in Obama's plans when he landed in Texas. It was only scheduled 2 days ago.

Obama's original plans were to go to some fund raisers and avoid the border. His travel itinerary that was released to the press had plans for less than 1 meeting with Perry on the border crisis.

From your link!

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Perry has accepted an invitation to a group meeting in Dallas that will include local officials and faith leaders.

"We thought it made sense here to extend an invitation to Gov. Perry, to allow him to participate in that meeting with other Texans who are seeking to address this situation in a constructive manner," Earnest said. "We're looking forward to Gov. Perry participating in that meeting."

Seems reasonable enough to me. The WH says the Texas trip had a triple purpose, including fundraising. Jesus Christ, unfortunately ALL presidents do fundraising, some presidents cut brush when we think they should be officiating, some play golf, some go fishing while others shoot pool.

Easy now, no American welcomes cultural destruction. Drawing attention to the FACT that our border has been left unsecured for decades, and that blaming one party for the fact that it isn't does not equate to a death wish on our culture.

A couple of things stood out as pure Obama yesterday in his statement in Dallas.

- He said Congress needs to learn to co-operate again like the old days by passing his legislation that he sent them. He didn't say work with him to make a mutually acceptable piece of legislation ... just passing what he sends them is being co-operative[/LIST].

- When he said what the 3 billion would be used for he said half would be used for increased border control and immigrant processing (I think it was) and the other half would be used for something or other. So what he did was lump border control funding with immigrant processing funding as half, while border control would actually only be around 5% to 10%.
Pure Obama wordplay.
How about Bohner's house passing anything? ...ANYTHING!

Pass anything to what... have Harry never let it see the light of day in the Senate? Pot meet kettle.

If the border wasn't secure, they'd be in the states on their own, not in captivity awaiting deportation trials. So when you see a prison full of prisoners, do you then suggest that full jails mean that the police aren't doing their jobs? You guys have truly gone off the deep end.

The border patrol often waits miles inside the US and does not stop these folks from crossing into the US. Once they are allowed into the US then we enjoy providing them with food, shelter and medical care and "hearings" to determine which can stay. Unless, of course, they are simply turned loose and "expected" to show up for a hearing later.

And how long has that been SOP.

President does photo op: Bad.
President doesn't do photo op: Bad.
