Complaint: Ex-police officer hid women's bound bodies in suitcases stored in home, vehicle | Star Tribune

WEST ALLIS, Wis. — A former police officer suspected in the deaths of two women whose bodies were stuffed into suitcases and discarded on a rural Wisconsin highway met his victims online, in one case possibly through a bondage website, according to police and a criminal complaint.

Steven Zelich, a 52-year-old security officer, was charged Thursday with two counts of hiding a corpse. He was arrested the day before, when detectives wearing hazmat suits removed large, brown bags of evidence and a refrigerator from his apartment in West Allis, a Milwaukee suburb.

It's pretty shocking to people here.

This story has more twists and turns in it than a county road,

Ex-girlfriend of former cop charged with hiding bodies: 'He was always very kind' - TODAY'S TMJ4

WTF???

Jamie Bates has photos of Zelich playing with her pets, and her young daughter. But she always knew he had a dark side.

"He did tell me that he had a girl who he was with for seven years, and he used to keep her caged 90 percent of the time," Bates says. "I thought that was really odd. It was creepy. But nothing was ever like that between me and him."

She thought it was "odd" and "creepy"? Honey, I think it's ****ing sick and probably illegal, too.

She let her daughter around a guy who tells her he kept a woman in a cage 90% of the time for 7 ****ing years?

"two counts of hiding a corpse". Interesting charge. Is this a greater or lesser offense than creating a corpse?

It's insane. I'm waiting for the rest of the story now, like, they met on craigslist, I know it said a different website, a B&D place, but there's gotta be more to this, call me a conspiracy nut now.

Tanks!

Oh , hey, yeah, I thought at first those suitcases were found after they washed up on the Lake Geneva beach or a river up there, you know, Al Capone's old hideout, but this is really freaky now. I usually watch ABC7 in Chicago but have been watching CBS58 in Milwaukee for updates on this.

They have some weird laws here in Wisconsin, probably unlike anywhere else in America.

I think it's figured out now. He confessed to murdering both, but because they're (cops) are gathering evidence to prove those charges of murder or homicide, they (cops) needed to charge him with something to hold him on until all evidence of the murders is completed or collected.

I believe I heard bail was set at $1 million.

Still doesn't make sense. If he confessed, why do they need some other charge to hold him? Murder seems like a reasonable charge.

Oh hell, the perpetrator's attorney claims the deaths could have been accidental.

Let's examine this for a minute, a deviant man ball-gags a girl, wraps a rope around here neck, her eyes begin to roll back in her head, what does he do, ask her how she's feeling? I am at a loss.
