Immigrant Children Raped, Punched, Kicked in Border Patrol Custody: Complaint

What alarms me is people who are full of racial hatred and bigotry.

Fortunately they are a minority of the population and will never control the USA.

"At the heart of racism is the religious assertion that God made a creative mistake when He brought some people into being." ~ Friedrich Otto Hertz

Yay! The race card. Of COURSE it is about racism. It isn't about massive failed federal government, rampant illegal immigration, the connection to trafficking in humans, drugs, guns, etc. It's not the massive drain on an already battered economy not open flaunting of the law.

It's about racism.

We have to start really shoring up our borders to prevent these things from happening to begin with. I have to wonder why a lot of the democrats refuse to acknowledge this problem and, in fact, actually encourage it at times. I have to think it's for votes because there really is no other benefit to illegal immigration to America (even though the smarmy partisans will lie and say that there is).

You don't hear much about it, but they come in from Canada too. There are tunnels underneath the border between us and Canada. There may even be tunnels between us and Mexico. They do manage to get across, and the 'coyotes' the ones who help them get across the border know all the tricks. They make big bucks shuttling others in to this country, yet they, themselves, do not come here.

People have been aimed at our shores for as far back as I can remember. Remember the Cuban boat people? People from Cuba still drown from time to time trying to get here. If they can just get here, then they have rights.

Honestly as many Mexicans as we have working in this country, it is pretty clear that they are needed in the labor force. And really, if they are paying into Social Security, it is just wrong to take the money and not let them have that benefit. It simply makes them a new slave class in t his country. I am for some serious increase in the work visas that are allowed from there. The current number that is allowed keeps a well intended legal immigrant waiting for over 10 years. He is better off to jump the border and let the cards fall where they may. The system has many chinks that need to be filled and our government needs to get a handle on it. In reality, I don't remember a time when immigrants were well received. I mean, the Indians fought us. The Irish were lower than dirt, and where did the term wop, dago come from? Where did Pollock jokes come from? Immigrants are always gong to be seen as sapping our resources. Most, even the illegal ones, are not because they work, spend money here, pay taxes albeit under fake numbers. SS just takes the money even if the SS number is fake or stolen. They pay about a billion a year into our SS, but have no system of being able to draw on it.

This situation is something entirely different. These are underage people some very young. They are not here to work and this is an overt attempt to put a strain on our system and it worked. I expect more.

Too bad the Feds didn't protect the border the way they do employees of the IRS.

We should protect our southern border like mejico protects ITS southern border.

If you say so.

Why can't it be about more than one thing?

Why can't it be about a lot of things, Including racism (Which we still have some of in the USA)?

Because it is absolutely and simply NOT. No one is saying stop legal immigration. He'll we bring in MILLIONS annually...legally. This isn't about Latinos or immigration. Not even a little bit, as much as you might like to make it be.

Their understanding of politics is always about 'racism', 'sexism' or, the catch-all, 'right wing'. To expect anything more than that has a low success rate, but some eventually catch on.

Tunnels between Canada and the US? Do you have a serious link to that? There was the XL Pipeline, which has now canceled by the Canadians government, but that's about it. There is no need for Canadians to escape to the US for a better life.

Canada just doesn't have the problems that our neighbors to the south have. I don't see a huge issue with illegal immigrants coming from Canada since it is NOT a hell hole like Mexico where drug wars rage and the government is paid off and bribed by the drug cartels. Mexico is just a great big mess, and no one seems to be interested in fixing it.

I think the greatest flaw in our immigration policy is that we make it so easy to become an undocumented immigrant, as opposed to a legal immigrant. If we streamline the immigration process and grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, there will be far less motivation to immigrate illegally. And it's a no brainer that these accusations need to be investigated, regardless of citizenship.

Because it is absolutely and simply NOT. No one is saying stop legal immigration. He'll we bring in MILLIONS annually...legally. This isn't about Latinos or immigration. Not even a little bit, as much as you might like to make it be.

The Constitution Party is calling for a moratorium on immigration, actually. I'd bet there were many Republican voters who would favor their party endorsing this policy as well, if it weren't for losing moderate voters.

Indeed. I'd be curious as to why so many Canadians would be interested in moving to a nation where their healthcare is not free and they must genuinely worry about crime.

I saw that on TV a few years back. Since you asked nicely, I'll look for a link.

OK, Grant. Here you go. It originated as a drug smuggling tunnel. However, I have seen in recent years that it was used to smuggle in undocumented immigrants, some from the middle east.

.S.-Canadian drug smuggling tunnel[edit]

In early 2005, a group of Canadian drug-smugglers took up the idea, and constructed a tunnel between a greenhouse in Langley, British Columbia and the basement of a house in Lynden, Washington, which lay across the ditch marking the United States-Canada border (the house on the Langley side was on 0 Avenue ("Zero Avenue"), which runs parallel to the border and is the baseline of Langley's avenue-numbering system). They bought the two properties and began construction work. Authorities were alerted when a neighbor noticed the large-scale construction work being undertaken in the greenhouse. On inspection, it was apparent that tons of construction material was entering, and piles of earth were coming out.

It became known within a short time by both American and Canadian border authorities that a tunnel was being built. Video and audio devices were installed secretly by customs officials both at the termini and in the tunnel itself.

On July 14, the tunnel having been completed, the first packs of marijuana began going through. Officials raided the home soon after and arrested the three men. They then appeared before court in Seattle.[3]

I really don't think it is possible to 'seal' our borders. Too many miles, and too much land mass involved. I believe our only recourse is to make it so bad for those who come here without papers that it will no longer be profitable for them to do so. But, that day is a LONG way away, IMO.

Sure, I'll bet we get some drug running and even a little bit of illegal immigration from the Canadian border, but since Canada is a pretty well-run country without the problems that Mexico has, I don't really see illegal immigration from Canada being nearly the problem as it is from the southern border.

Indeed. I'd be curious as to why so many Canadians would be interested in moving to a nation where their healthcare is not free and they must genuinely worry about crime.

Health care is not free, doctor's and nurses also have to make a living, but I have never heard of any tunnels being built between Canada and the United States. I'd be very surprised if that were true.

Thanks very much for that!

That would have been Surrey, not Langley, and it would have to be one of the dumbest ideas ever. No wonder these fools were caught immediately. Too much sampling of their product perhaps.

There are seldom any problems with the US/Canadian border and any problems there are would work both ways. Boatload Of American Refugees Seek Asylum In Canada | THE LAPINE Let's not take the extraordinary and develop laws and policies based on that. Canadians and Americans have always had excellent relations, comparatively, and let's not lose that.

There have been many complaints pied up over time with these types of accusations. I think an investigation needs to brought forward to this, and that the way we treat immigrants while in custody needs some major reform. If any of these accusations show to be true, then we need major overhaul in how we detain undocumented immigrants.

I don't believe a single bit of it. Not at all. Nor do I find it surprising that those that defend anything this president does, going after those 'evil law enforcement' people.

The only thing our LE should be doing down there is turning these kids around and making them walk back into mexico. Period.

I SAY we treat ALL illegals coming into these shelters as HORRIBLE as possible (minus the rape and stuff thats wrong). Lets put them all out in the dessert with nothing but little aluminum shelters, a couple wells, and a couple of holes in the ground to crap in, and a bucket of slop to eat. They come here thinking we'll take care of them, but if we make the conditions here worse than their own home countries, they WILL go back and they will TELL their FRIENDS not to come here because it is hell.

We would need to have people in DC that have read the Constitution and agree to defend this nation in order for that to happen.

This is what you will see, even though the president has said these kids "can not stay": We will do nothing to stop the flow into the USA, we will house and feed them. There is already 'advertisements' from the government for people to 'chaperone' these kids throughout the country… yes, they are seeking companies/people to watch after them. They will be moved all over the country so it is harder down the road to kick them out.

WOW. So out of touch.

I'll admit I'm out of touch with popular opinion in that my suggestion would not be welcomed with open arms by the general populous, but what exactly is incorrect about my statement. If its extremely easy to become a citizen here, why will people want to immigrate here illegally, minus violent criminals?

1) it should never be easy to immigrate here. If you let people flood in, you screw up the economy. It's a jobs vs population vs government spending to support those without jobs.

2) it is the policies and statements of the current president, that has made everyone down south think we will accept them and not send them back, that is why we are having this massive influx. In other words, they think there will be amnesty, thus they are rushing to get here.

That ignores the facts. Amnesty for undocumented immigrants opens up more money for tax revenue, so despite the increased population to accommodate, the government has more resources to accommodate its people. In addition, deporting illegal immigrants, which is what I believe you would prefer to do based on a previous post you made in this thread, would simply destroy many southwestern economies for documented and undocumented citizens alike. (see link)

L.A. County Economy Would Shrink by More Than $100 Billion If All Illegal Immigrants Were Deported, Says UCLA Report | The Informer | Los Angeles | Los Angeles News and Events | LA Weekly

We seem to have a disagreement on legal immigration; streamlining the immigration process to make it easier to become and granting amnesty will discourage illegal immigration, but it will encourage legal immigration, which you seem to view as a bad thing.

That ignores the facts.

Uh, no. It is a reality. When we do not have enough work for the citizens of the nation, to flood our nation with new people is a BAD idea. There will be no new 'tax revenue' because the people will not be working.

As to the lat times and UCLA … LOL. Left leaning agenda driven crap, nothing more.

granting amnesty will discourage illegal immigration, but it will encourage legal immigration, which you seem to view as a bad thing.

Repeating the same incorrect thing again will not make it true. The reason we are having this explosion of people illegally crossing the border is because they think they will be granted amnesty. Thus the idea of amnesty brings more illegal immigration.

The last part you put there is utter nonsense, nowhere did I say or suggest such a thing. Quick making crap up and stick to what was actually said.

Do you have any evidence to suggest that someone's decision to immigrate here illegally means they will refuse to work?

lol at denying facts you disagree with.

Repeating the same incorrect thing again will not make it true. The reason we are having this explosion of people illegally crossing the border is because they think they will be granted amnesty. Thus the idea of amnesty brings more illegal immigration.

You cut out the part where I said streamline the immigration system. Our system of making it extremely difficult to become a citizen means that people are willing to risk illegal immigration to cross the border. Minus fugitives, who has the incentive to immigrate illegally when legal immigration is easy and simple?

The last part you put there is utter nonsense, nowhere did I say or suggest such a thing. Quick making crap up and stick to what was actually said.

Then explain this:
1) it should never be easy to immigrate here.
