NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....[W:46]

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

Been there for how long and we still need to train them for future security? And the other half up against how many Taliban, who will step up recruitment.?

Isn't it like 14 years.....well. Ya have to understand, they area bit slow on the take. :2razz:

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

Well.....now they have guided focus. Although most Military and ex Military do keep an eye on things.

Myself, I was surprised CBS was reporting it at all.

Exactly. Where was the media the last 5 years when soldiers have continued to fight and die while the govt talks about wages for burger flippers and gay marriage? Theyll forget about them again soon. Its election time after all. Time to focus on polls and sex lives of politicians and which aristocrats will get to keep their cushy jobs.

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

That's life, the Taliban got what they wanted. No need for further negotiations at this point in time. Not until they get another bargaining chip.

Pero, I will never understand the thinking of civilians who put their lives in danger by tromping around in places like the ME. The couple with the child who have requested BHO's help in freeing them from the Taliban is the latest example. It's dangerous for our military over there - let alone ordinary people! Since the Taliban has refused to negotiate with us at all, why push the envelope by testing them?

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

Well, now with all the Attacks by terrorisst jumping off. I think the Media is finally getting it. AQ in Iraq just took over Iraq's 2nd largest City and Northern Capitol. They have control of all government sources and facilities. Washington Post with the reporting. Again they use the term Insurgents.

Oh and now all the Prisons......I have it up In on the War on Terror in Military.

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

Well if you go and check out Stratfor.....You will see they seem to think its a Joint Venture with these Attacks. That All was coordinated. At the same time with both Afghanistan and Pakistan. I guess thats SOP for those who have Aircraft in the Sky. Course most in the military already know the basics. Just sayin.

Could be a joint effort, the only fly in that ointment would be the Pakis have little, if any, concern about the Taliban in Afghanistan as they have harbored and turned a blind eye to both the Tallys and the al-Queeras- until they attack the Paki power structure.

There is a huge difference between knowing the basics and performing them flawlessly in the dark under fire. These days calls for supports are digital with a format displayed and numbers punched in through a keyboard with the 'operators', gone are the days of vocal calls for support. It is sadly easy enough to forget where you are in the sequence and punch in the incorrect data at the prompt.

Will be interesting to learn more, but in the end 5 guys died in a friendly fire incident.

Oh yeah, is that why the MS is the one out on the J.O.B. for a change? I still have a couple of questions of them saying NATO when they Knew it was a region we were working out of. But then as J5 pointed out it's the MS Media reporting now.

Now why would you say they wouldn't be concerned about those Taliban on the Border who work with the Haqqani network. Which has been documented over and over again?

Do you think with them trying to Snatch an Airport in Pakistan and the Pakistans saying they took out 9 hideouts all along the Southern Border.....Means they just stayed on the borderline?

Karachi airport briefly suspended all flights in and out of the sprawling city of 18 million were suspended, an official said, but most flights were restored by 0930 GMT. Sri Lankan Airlines cancelled a Karachi-bound flight with 207 passengers onboard after the latest attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistani fighter jets bombed Taliban positions on the Afghan border.

"Nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed by early morning military air strikes near the Pakistan-Afghan border," the army's press wing said, adding that 25 militants were killed....snip~

Do you think with AQ in Iraq today taking over the Northern Capital of Iraq and now has access and control of Mosul International Airport, and that the MS Media reporting all this now. Will means something to BO and his Administration with their Foreign Policy.

So the Taliban in Pakistan has gone after an Airport and now this. It does bring up some very interesting points, doesn't it?

Your shorthand is a bit difficult to follow, it is like you type half of what you are trying to say... or you have a very short attention span compared to when we had our first talks...

Not sure why you comment on the MS (mainstream media????), as for NATO the USofA troops are there as part of a NATO contingent- not sure why this puzzles you. (if it helps ABC referred to the dead soldiers as US Troops, later Special operations soldiers.

Re-read what I said about the Pakis and Taliban on the border... Pakistan has harbored al-Queera and Tally wackers for decades, Osama hid in Pakistan, Bergdahl was hidden in Pakistan. The Terrorists still have training camps in the Northern Territories- what I said is the Pakis have so little concern about joint missions as controlling the factions that directly attack the Pakistan Government (like the airport attack)

Sure the Spec Op guys could have been attempting to work with the Paki forces- and the Pakis did just use airstrikes - are you hinting the Pakis hit US forces and it wasn't a B-1 bomber? You dance a lot and ask a lot of vague questions....

Mosul is incredible topic drift, again not sure what you are trying to claim... you ask a series of questions but seem distracted by something that prevents you from making any sort of point or much sense.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

Civilians, heck if I know. You asking the wrong man again, 20 years of active duty, 26 more working for the army as a DA civilian and I am supposed to know what civilians think. That’s my disclaimer. Personally I think any civilian that would go visit or take a vacation in Afghanistan is an idiot with no common sense. The same for going to North Korea and Iran, a few countries in Africa etc.

I don’t know about the Obama State Department, but there used to be a list of countries on back of the front pages that said something like, “This passport is not valid for travel to: List of countries and after the last country it said, The U.S. government will be unable to help anyone traveling to the above listed countries.” I had to turn in my passport when I retired 2 years ago, so I don’t know the exact saying.

I think any civilian who travels to those places are just plain crazy and since they did so against the advice of the U.S. government, I would say tough ****ski.

Nah its been so long, your forgot where your had your first misunderstanding and corrections.

Over the MS media......that must be you. Since you knew they really weren't up on reporting the war before. That was common knowleged amongst the general public so I doubt you really missed it.

No I am not even hinting anything you are talking about.....as like most of the time you can't keep up with any material presented.

As to Mosul.....Talk with that MS media you know about, that has reported on who just took Mosul. You might then know what you are talking about for a change. Just sayin!

Ahhhh CON babble, NOW I get it!!!!! :2wave:

You are streaming typical CON crap without any real point, just random CON trite expressions and little attempt to do more than Navy Pride this... 'Common knowleged' (sic) instead of facts...

You present no material but a stream of semi-conscious babble...

MS media is reporting a FACTION of al-Queera is behind the new attacks, Sunni backed terrorists. They call themselves a splinter group with 'of the Levant' or some such.

But still just rambling bits with no coherent thread to follow... :2wave:

Oh there is no need for you to babble yet you keep streaming away. I do read the news, which is why your shorthand, broken train of thought, CON jingoism is nonsensical. I thought you had some thought behind your first statements but as usual just a jerky, rambling series of questions, no-sense, and babble...

My bad... please continue.... I have cattle to feed.... :2wave:

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

So here we have a story.....that they knew it was 5 American Troopers Killed. Yet they Report it as NATO Forces. What say ye?
I say that you have unreasonable expectations for how fast civilians will hear about events in a war zone. Especially when the story hits the US in the middle of the night.

Well working for a new agency and seeing it up all night and listening to people say why aren't we saying its our guys. Since its in the region where we are located. Was the question that kept being asked.

That would be the Chicago Tribune Newspaper.

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

This is why we need a dedicated close air support aircraft; an aircraft that designed to fly close air support. Bombers are area suppression weapons. They're in no way intended for attacking point targets.

...and a more comprehensive version of the story was out by 11AM EST (if not earlier).

I really do not see any great disservice by taking a few more hours to get the story out. Nor am I in a position to second-guess your editors. Why don't you go ask them, and report back to us?

Well, considering I got in at 530am and they were saying it before I left work, and I had this up before what they sent over the Wire then. Kind of validates that out. Hence my updates.

Leaving no real reason to get back with who you think us might be.

Re: NATO says 5 service members killed in Afghanistan.....

The sad thing about this is friendly fire incidents happen in war. None of us like it and all precautions possible is taken to prevent it, but it still happens. Human error, mechanical error, computer error in today’s technology age. Who knows? One will have to wait for the full report. The U.S. is part of NATO, it could have been U.S. troops on the ground and a NATO plane, it could have been a joint operation. One just must wait. The fog of war is always there, always present. In my time one knew what was happening around 3 feet in front of you, 3 feet in back and 3 feet to either side. You never had the big picture. Headquarters relies on reports from the field, sometimes there are plenty of mix reports, reports contradicting each other. Until the fog clears, no one can know anything for certain. Then there are times when the fog never clears and one never knows exactly what happened or the reasons why and how come.

I think the young among us have gotten too use of immediate and instant communications that supposedly solves everything. Even in today’s day and age, that is not the case on the battlefield, the fog still exists. Time for my walk, I’ll check back later.

Thank you for not politicizing this tragedy. And good post too.
