BO has decided to appease Congress and now will come and grovel before them and the American people. As should be!!!!!

The White House apologized for keeping lawmakers in the dark regarding the exchange of an American soldier for five Taliban fighters, senators said Tuesday, as controversy grew over the issue. Administration officials plan a classified briefing for the full 100-member chamber Wednesday, with lawmakers from both parties fuming over the trade, which saw captured soldier Bowe Bergdahl released Saturday to US special forces in Afghanistan.

Feinstein reflected mounting bipartisan concern as lawmakers questioned the merits of releasing from Guantanamo five hardened Taliban fighters and officials in exchange for Bergdahl.

Seeking to mop up the political fallout, a senior White House official called Senator Saxby Chambliss, the Intelligence Committee's top Republican, late Monday "apologizing for not giving us advance warning," Chambliss said. Senate Democrat Carl Levin said Obama put Congress "on notice" last December in a signing statement saying he has constitutional authority to move quickly on detainees. And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was told of the swap Friday and that he supported the exchange. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin called the affair "very disturbing."

But few others openly backed the president. House Speaker John Boehner said the only reason Obama did not give the necessary notice "is because the administration knew it faced serious and sober bipartisan concern and opposition."

The swap will be debated in an open House hearing next week, with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel invited to testify.....snip~

Sorry's ass. Are they going to reverse it?

Better yet, just waste everyone involved in the trade.

Heya WCH. :2wave: Yeah classified briefing. I don't know why it needs to be classified now?

He needs to come and grovel before the American people.....Especially American Citizens overseas and Our Troops.

There will never be a Presidental apology unless he is removed from office. Anyone going to hold their breath waiting for that?

They should never have apologized. Congress and its inconsistencies can go **** themselves.

Al Qaeda chief urges Westerner kidnappings.....

Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri has called on Muslims to kidnap Westerners, particularly Americans, who could then be exchanged for jailed jihadists including a blind Egyptian cleric convicted in 1995 of conspiring to attack the United Nations and other New York landmarks.

In a wide ranging audio interview, the al Qaeda leader expressed solidarity with the Muslim Brotherhood which is facing a violent crackdown by the army-backed government in Egypt and urged unity among rebels in their fight against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"I ask Allah the Glorious to help us set free Dr. Omar Abdel-Rahman and the rest of the captive Muslims, and I ask Allah to help us capture from among the Americans and the Westerners to enable us to exchange them for our captives," said Zawahiri, according to the SITE website monitoring service.....snip~

Well at least the Open House hearing will be next weak with Hagel.....but it is not surprising that BO wants to keep his meeting classified.

Don't you think he is doing this.....due to all saying they were calling for Hearings and now Feinstein setting him out.

Good evening MMC.

This actually follows that old work principle I used to practice when I was employed - "it is easier to seek forgiveness than to seek approval". Apologies, sincere and mostly otherwise, are a small price to pay for getting what you want. Unless there are consequences, this will mean nothing.

Evening CJ. :2wave: There should be consequences. BO has increased the Risk of all our people lives overseas. Oh and they have been playing for this release and waiting to bring out once things were finalized with the Taliban. As I posted this back in Feb in Breaking Blogs. ;)

Report: US Wants to Swap Taliban for Bergdahl

The Obama administration has decided to revive talks with the Afghan Taliban in an effort to free the only known American soldier in captivity in exchange for the release of Taliban prisoners held at the U.S. detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, The Washington Post reported late Monday.

The Post reported that senior officials from the White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and other agencies decided within the past month to allow the release of all five prisoners at the same time, though the exchange offer has not been formally made.

The report comes a month after U.S. officials confirmed they'd received a video showing Bergdahl, 27, in poorer health than previous footage taken in the years since he went missing in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009. Bergdahl was based on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska when he was captured.

The effort to revive talks comes amid U.S. frustration over Afghan President Hamid Karzai's refusal to sign a long-term security agreement with the U.S. that he agreed to last year. The pact would provide the legal basis for any U.S. forces to remain in Afghanistan as trainers and advisers after the international combat mission ends in December.....snip~

There should be consequences, but there won't be - not even Nixon would be impeached today.

At least, your drooling blind support of the high lord Obama can be counted on.

When I first read about this exchange I was very concerned... I'm waiting for the bigger picture and naturally the rights first reaction is to jump all over this **** while crapping their pants.

This whole thing doesn't sit right with me at all, but I wanna see how this plays out.
