.....not to mention, yesterday the AP came out with an Exclusive of some more Westerners still in Afghanistan. AN American woman nonetheless and she and her family Immediately released the videos they have from their daughter and said due to Bergdahl. They thought it was time.

That link you gave to al Queda now asking it's members to kidnap Americans so they can get the ransom was very telling.

I think even a 12 year old could have seen that coming.

That is why you never negotiate with terrorists...even indirectly.


What Obama did so arrogantly (even potentially with good intentions) has probably made every American who lives/trails abroad just that much less safe from kidnapping.

This was a bonehead move that is typical of liberal ideas...well intentioned but often staggeringly naive.

Heya DA.....yeah and the Z man has had his ears all up in the mix with the Taliban and the US. So he knew all of this was taking place. From January of this year. Hence his release in at the End of April.

Moreover both sides of the aisle......know going back with Bush. When they released those out Gitmo and what happened. The one Schmoe.....was a nobody. Now.....he is the Leader of AQIL.

We also know two others left and became leaders of Ansar al Sharia groups.

Now......he has released THEE MAN. Mr Intelligence for AQ and the Taliban. This guy wont go back out on the battlefield. He will be deciding it and who the players are.
He will sit and Right in plain sight.....and then he will send the Word.


Worse is him now knowing the Taliban still wont negotiate.....and the One Taliban Leader BO had. Now has come up M.I.A. in the U.A.E. Go figure!!!!!

They'll keep digging on the released soldier enough that the poor guy might need to leave his hometown and change his identity, that's how bad it might get for him. His parents might also need to relocate too, so much for supporting American troops huh?

What an interesting path your "stance" in this thread has taken. It started out with your announcement that the administration should never have apologized. Then morphed to the bromide about good luck convincing the American people that bringing home an American citizen home was a bad decision, which at this point shows just how out of touch with the same you are. While most Americans might have agreed with that sentiment, the details of the "swap" are now before the public, and it does not look like the public is taking the shine to the matter you would prefer. Of course you used the always genius, I'm not paying attention to that poll, I've got a feeble little internet cliche excuse. That I'll use every time anyone shows me info that argues against my rather naive and hopeful belief the American people won't be convinced this was a bad deal. Even though that appears to be the case. Time to work George Bush into the thread. And goat herders. And impeachment that nobody is calling for, which I'll admit but then ignore so I can post a brainless screed about impeachment and republicans.

All that blabbering and you have the same opinion that nothing happened to be apologized for in the first place, that you did when you arrived. Imagine that? You'll keep making appeals and allusions to what you "think" the public "thinks" about this situation, offer child like answers for why you don't accept the polls that show otherwise, and keep tailoring your bromides towards the call for impeachment you inadvertently admitted nobody is making. :monkey

When folks find out you're pretending to be a hero and are in fact a deserter you're surprised when they don't take the news well? You'd have to support the troops in the first place to understand.

Yes it does. These 5 being released was the "rip the bandaid off quickly" to get over the pain. The rest will be easy by comparison ... this isn't about Bergdahl, or any other American being held, it's not about law, it's not about doing the right thing, it's about Obama's legacy. Period.

Berghdahl has not been convicted of treason as someone stated earlier. He is a deserter. He should be tried by a military tribunal for desertion and thrown in the brig. I don't think it was reasonable to make any attempt to 'rescue' him. He took his chances when he deserted, pretty much like any other lone American would do in the middle east. THEN to top it off, he converted to islam. This is well documented. Whether he is a radical muslim remains to be seen, but he was in the hands of radicals, and he converted under the tutelage of radicals. If there is a pot going around I'll make my bet on him being a radical.

So, if Obama's intent was to release as many radicals as he could in one fell swoop, he managed to let go of 6 this go around. He, himself, signed into law the requirement that he consult with Congress about it and he broke that law. Yes, that is an impeachable offense. But then so was his sleeping through Benghaze.

Those criticizing Obama for specifically for the fact of freeing this individual, who demanded previously he be freed would be hypocrites.

Those critizing Obama for potentially breaking the law in an effort to free this invididual, and who demanded previously he be freed, are not hypocrites. Those are not the same thing.

Those criticizing Obama for potentially giving away far too much in return for him, and who demanded previously he be freed, are not hypocrites. Those are not the same thing.

Those latter two instances are not complaining that he was freed...it's complaining about actions taken to get to that end point. Basically, to claim that all these folks are hypocrites one would basically need to suggest everyone speaks, thinks, and acts from the notion that the ends always justify the means.
