White House apologizes to lawmakers over secret POW Swap.....

That is the one that counts Pero.....on what comes back to haunt us.

From what I read MMC, it is mixed feelings on a lot of this. I think one has to give it a few more days and let this thing settle down.

Take it for what it is worth. Fox pays the firm of Anderson Robbins Research (D) / Shaw & Company Research (R) to conduct their polls. It is actually two different companies that combine their results, Anderson Robbins Research being a Democratic polling firm and Shaw and Company being a Republican one.

Now your just being factual... how can one erroneously slander Fox news when you state facts that both (D) and (R) polling companies are involved. ;)

And when they do... the American public will prefer we bring an American home instead of feeding, clothing and bathing 5 goat herders that we could just as easily drone out of existence.

If you go into the polls themselves you will find out all the major news networks pay someone to conduct their polls, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS etc. They do not conduct them on their own. It isn't one of these call in and vote or internet vote, the polling firms are well known for those who follow the polls. Gallup, Rasmussem and a couple of others are the only ones who conduct their own polls.

Sorry if you don't like anti-American scum being exposed as the anti-American scum.

No, I'm fine with it, also okay with your reveal. The question at hand is not the simplistic take you spun it as.

Hey guys, I'll make you the same bet I've made everyone else when it comes to Obama and every so-called "scandal" that Republicans come up with like: F&F, Benghazi, ObamaCare website and the IRS thing - if you got something to impeach on? Bring it. Let's see if the Senate convicts given the precedent established by GWB.

It's even worse. If any of these five are linked in any way after they were released, to the deaths of Americans it's clearly on Obama's head. Even if one of these five trains ten others on how to kill people, it's still on Obama's head. In any realm of the imagination I cannot see how or why they would let THESE five go. And did the administration not know that there were concerns about Bergdahl and the investigation that took place? I mean a CO losing someone off their base in Afghanistan ... there's going to be a report, and investigation, testimony.... there's a paper trail here and we just don't know the whole story of what happened yet - but eventually it will come out.

BO thinks he covered his bases......he whiffed.

The prisoner swap has stoked anger in Afghanistan, where many view the deal as a further sign of a U.S. desire to disengage from Afghanistan as quickly as possible. Washington has mapped out a plan to fully withdraw all of its troops by the end of 2016.

"No government cant transfer citizens of a country to a third country as prisoners," the Afghan Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement issued late on Sunday.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who was excluded from the deal to avoid leaks according to the U.S. government, has not commented on the prisoner swap, although the foreign ministry statement was emailed from his media office.

Senior officials at the Afghan intelligence agency say they believe the men will return to the battlefield and bolster the insurgency just as most foreign combat troops prepare to exit by the end of this year.

All five prisoners were classed as "high-risk" and "likely to pose a threat" by the Pentagon and held senior positions in the Taliban regime before it was topped by a U.S. led coalition in 2001.

At least two of them are suspected of committing war-crimes, including the murder of thousands of Afghan Shi'ites, according to leaked U.S. military cables.

"That's been documented. So it's disturbing to me that the Taliban are the ones that named the people to be released." he said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”.....snip~

First off......the Taliban are not the ruling Governmental Authority in Afghanistan. They just had elections a couple months ago to say so. Bo just put together this deal from last month. As the deal was dead in Feb of this year.

Which BO knew the Haqqani Network had Bergdahl.

And when they do... the American public will prefer we bring an American home instead of feeding, clothing and bathing 5 goat herders that we could just as easily drone out of existence.

More absurd reduction, your argument grows weaker with every attempt. We traded five terrorists for a deserter, not exactly going to be celebrations in the streets.

BO has decided to appease Congress and now will come and grovel before them and the American people. As should be!!!!!

The White House apologized for keeping lawmakers in the dark regarding the exchange of an American soldier for five Taliban fighters, senators said Tuesday, as controversy grew over the issue. Administration officials plan a classified briefing for the full 100-member chamber Wednesday, with lawmakers from both parties fuming over the trade, which saw captured soldier Bowe Bergdahl released Saturday to US special forces in Afghanistan.

Feinstein reflected mounting bipartisan concern as lawmakers questioned the merits of releasing from Guantanamo five hardened Taliban fighters and officials in exchange for Bergdahl.

Seeking to mop up the political fallout, a senior White House official called Senator Saxby Chambliss, the Intelligence Committee's top Republican, late Monday "apologizing for not giving us advance warning," Chambliss said. Senate Democrat Carl Levin said Obama put Congress "on notice" last December in a signing statement saying he has constitutional authority to move quickly on detainees. And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he was told of the swap Friday and that he supported the exchange. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin called the affair "very disturbing."

But few others openly backed the president. House Speaker John Boehner said the only reason Obama did not give the necessary notice "is because the administration knew it faced serious and sober bipartisan concern and opposition."

The swap will be debated in an open House hearing next week, with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel invited to testify.....snip~

What say ye?

It's always easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission...

Hey guys, I'll make you the same bet I've made everyone else when it comes to Obama and every so-called "scandal" that Republicans come up with like: F&F, Benghazi, ObamaCare website and the IRS thing - if you got something to impeach on? Not every scandal rises to the level of impeachment. Bad judgement or just plain idiocy isn't the standard. You have nothing to bet with in the first place.

What did Bush do ?

And demanding answers doesn't disqualify the existence of a scandal.

This scandal has pissed off Democrats too and it should.

Impeachment or not, this is exposing Obama as the lying incompetent that Conservatives have always contended he was.

I don't know who you are listening to Pero.....many are turning on BO over this.....even in Poland, and including the MS Media. BO stated again about Bergdahls Health trying to cover for Susan Rice who has been eating some good face time again.....for the second time round.

Problem here is.....other Countries have the Taliban listed down as terrorists. You don't think BO can get around that fact and Other Countries Intel Services. Do you?

And we further suspect that the five terrorists that were released will of course remain where they are, and not travel anywhere. Their cohorts are just going to have to wait a year to see them. Got it! No problem!

To Republicans & Conservatives: Good luck convincing the American public that bringing an American home was a bad decision.

The Vets who served honorably with Bergdahl who have come forth with their testimonies of what really happened has left this administration running for cover. As long as investigative reporters continue to do their job it will continue to be a problem for this administration. As people find out that 5 American killers of innocent civilians were swapped for an American deserter this administration tried to depict as a man who served honorably, more and more people will become outraged. This goes beyond partisan ideology. This goes to the lack of National Security currently on display in this administration. This goes to the willingness of this administration to break the law for political gain. They thought by releasing Bergdahl it would bring fanfare. Instead, it was met with Vets who know what really happened coming forth at the risk of violating a gag order to tell the American people the truth. This administration while trying to use Bergdahl's health as an excuse to break laws in order to recover Bergdahl was blown out of the water when the Taliban produced to NBC full coverage of the exchange and Bergdahl and very much looked to be in very good health. So sit and spin if you like, the majority can smell the rat.

Heya CB. :2wave: Does BO need to be impeached to be Censured or to be Called before Congress and Chastized?

What did Bush do ?

Well, let's start with the whole "signing statements" debacle:

Presidential Signing Statements Research Guide — Georgetown Law

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia disagreed with his fellow justices' disregard of a signing statement related to the Detainee Treatment Act, Pub. L. No. 109-148, §§ 1005-1006, 119 Stat. 2736 (2005). Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, 548 U.S. 557 (2006) (Scalia dissenting). In March 2009, President Obama issued a memo to the heads of executive departments and agencies in which he opined "In appropriately limited circumstances, [presidential signing statements] represent an exercise of the President's constitutional obligation to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and they promote a healthy dialogue between the executive branch and the Congress."

When Democrats tried to create laws against their use? Not a single Republican cared enough to support the bill. If the problem is that Obama "broke the law" by using signing statements to circumvent the law, Republicans are going to have to try and explain away why they were in favor of this BEFORE Obama became president. They've already been in support of this:

Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 said:
"The executive branch shall construe Title X in Division A of the Act, relating to detainees, in a manner consistent with the constitutional authority of the President to supervise the unitary executive branch and as Commander in Chief and consistent with the constitutional limitations on the judicial power, which will assist in achieving the shared objective of the Congress and the President, evidenced in Title X, of protecting the American people from further terrorist attacks."

It's simple and Bush set the standard, the president can do what he feels is necessary within his constitutional power when interpreting the law. None of this was even questionable by Republicans before 2008. Now they're against it? Tough ****. Obama brought an American home and sent a few goat herders to be disappeared in Qatar. Win-win.

I don't MMC, I think it was a stupid thing to do especially in not notifying the present Afghan government. After all it is them that will probably have to fight these five and more just to survive. The possibility exists that other countries will stop aiding in our hunt for terrorists which could include providing intel data. But I have been more focused on the home front than overseas.

That's Correct V.....all Regular Army in Association with him had to sign Non Disclosure Agreements. Which was after his File Was Classified. Which that came after July 14 2010. Which was also after Bergdahl was promoted twice while in Captivity.

Heya CB. :2wave: Does BO need to be impeached to be Censured or to be Called before Congress and Chastized?

Yeah, pretty much they'd have to subpoena him and even then he might choose to not appear and SCOTUS would likely back him if it were for anything but impeachment. I'm not sure congress has the grant to censure the POTUS in the first place. Heck, congress critters chastise presidents all the time. Doesn't mean anything.

You don't think he knows about Politics do ya? Nor anything Military or Intel Like, do ya.....Cmon! :lamo

He's was talking about polls. Now I know polls and I tried to explain it to him. It is more a case of him not wanting to hear what the polling numbers were. When I have a conversation with someone I want it to be fairly serious with a bit of common sense, not just to throw accusations around. Getting into a brouhaha over polling firms isn't worth it.

And when they do... the American public will prefer we bring an American home instead of feeding, clothing and bathing 5 goat herders that we could just as easily drone out of existence.

And, there you have it. The published leftist talking points:
I've seen the same thing on at least three other forums.

Him being promoted twice is what I can't figure out. that is something else that seems rather stupid especially when the military knew he walked away from his post.
