Lockheed to deliver first of 36 F-16s to Iraq this week

The F-22 lacks ground attack capabilities so not really.

I see, well in that case they could use them defending there new territory from US/Israeli/Syrian air attacks I suppose. Or perhaps they will shoot down commercial airliners invading their newly claimed air space. Somehow I frown on arming IS beyond what we already have, I'm certain more innocents will be harmed.

Yeah?.....but more innocent people will be hurt.

So... what?? They are cleaning the gene pool, just as God intends. Why we be against that? We should be helpful and help them and provide quality weapons systems at confiscatory prices.

You disagree that ISIS (IS now) would cause more damage if they have Raptors??

That's the point of selling them Raptors. And then selling the Anti ISIS forces Raptors. Drain em both dry of their piggy banks, cookie jars, bank accounts and sofa change. Take it all.

Why so glum chum? They are only just cleaning out their gene pool. They should be much more thorough cleaning it out in my opinion.

Oh ok, we'll you go ahead and promote that, I'm not comfortable with it.

I think that people are going to kill other people, and all we're discussing is capacity. So long as it's not really a threat to ourselves, granting one group a greater capacity to murder is ultimately beneficial. For all. Increase their capacity to such an extent, for both sides (for a price), that the idea of engaging in it loses viability.

And no, an F16 isn't going to increase their ability to deal more damage than what they already have, really.

What's more dangerous, a guy making passes in a jet that requires fuel, munitions, training, a runway, and an infrastructure of satellites and radar to be TRULY effective...

Or a group of committed zealots with high explosives?

I'll take my chances with that "blind" F16, thanks.

Uhm, look up the US Air Forces CBU-97 Bomb.

Free fall Cluster bomb that dispenses 40 spinning hockey puck like " skeets " .

Each " Skeet " uses infrared targeting and can on its own scan up to a 1500 foot area.

Once targets are acquired the skeet attaches itself to the target ( Tanks Armor personnel vehicles, jeeps, buildings, etc ) and then detonates sending superheated molten Copper into and THROUGH ANY ARMOR thats been developed by Man.

Once through the armor the superheated copper burns through munitions and well......BOOM !

There is no hiding from that weapon, no safe place no where to run.

Technology is amazing.

Oh, I'm not saying we're supplying this to anyone, but its a dumb bomb until the little spinning hockey pucks of death are unleashed.

And then its certain death for anyone on the ground.

Ok, so you favor arming IS with F-16 too!

Of course. Having them spend their 2+ billion on F16s makes the US much safer than having them buying up explosives, chemical weapons, or even nukes. Help them spend their war chest on something that LOOKS impressive but ultimately won't help them much.

And the day we sell anyone in the Mid East that, or anything else similar, or crates of grenades/RPGs/ etc...

Will be national face palm day.

Ok, maybe Washington will agree with you. Four decades of supporting militant Islamic groups hasn't had that effect yet, but maybe we just need to be patient.

Yeah, the problem there isn't that we were selling them jets (we weren't), it's that we were selling them stuff much more useful for guerrilla warfare...like explosives, training, RPGs, etc.

Wonder how long it will be before sense those aircraft flying against the U.S.

Those that don't know their history are doomed to repeat it. The U.S. Hasn't learned not to arm people we might be in conflict with tomorrow.
If that happens, a command override code will disable them.

I don't think anyone should be selling those crazy-ass crackpots anything more advanced than an F-104 or F-4.
The F-4 may be old, but it's still a good aircraft.

I recall hearing stories when I was stationed at K-2 Airbase about training dogfights between Phantoms and Falcons. No clear winner overall. One is faster, the other more maneuverable.

You're in luck. The F-22 isn't for sale.

The F-35 is for sale, but it can't ****ing fly. Well worth the trillion or so we're spending on the program, eh?

Like their infantry we can expect the pilots to bail out and surrender at the first sight of pigeons. Our business in Iraq reminds me of a man sinking in quicksand.

Good news.

Our business in the ME, generally.
