Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW[W:28]

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

God bless this man. God bless him. Its a shame that people view this man as a traitor and not as a hero in our country.

If anyone is a traitor it is the NSA agents spying on Americans and those that continue to allow them to spy on Americans. Not the guy who told us that the government has wadded up the 4th amendment and shoved it up their ass.

I do not blame him for fleeing the country and going to a country that will not extradite him and have the ability to stand up to the US should the US try to coerce or intimidate them into turning over Snowden. So John Kerry and other scum calling Snowden a traitor can go **** themselves.

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

To the lefties who think Snowden was in the right, why dont you extend this line of thought to the IRS scandal, where Americans were targeted based on political ideology? Im not exactly seeing you in the trenches.

I am not a left winger. If anyone has betrayed the US it is the NSA agents spying on Americans and the rat degenerate pieces of **** scum in office who continue to allow the NSA to spy on Americans. Last I checked the constitution is the supreme law of the land and all those elected official made an oath to uphold and defend the constitution.

One interview that reveals nothing and a socialist responds with the above. Ever think of waiting for the whole story from more than one source? For starters is was shown this morning that 39% of the people polled were not sure how they felt about Snowden long BEFORE this aired. To me he should have spilled his info to the press and remained here to fight for what he believes in? Let's not forget he went to Cuba. Last, I don't hold with what John Kerry or any politician says again until all the marbles are on the table. What must stand out above all is the FACT that the AMOUNT of info is unknown as Snowden said last night the inventory is a joke they don't even know what they have and anyone can have access to it. I for one did not know Snowden was only a high school graduate.......... pretty slick to work the jobs he was given with only a HS diploma!!!!!

He's absolutely a hero and patriot. The fascist corporate government of ours has been exploiting 9/11 to justify huge power grabs, it's time to get this under control.

Please to tell me how you are less free today than before 9/11. Other than horrible inconveniences at the airport, my life goes on as before. Yours?

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

And how do you know he gave that to China and Russia? Did Brian Williams tell you, or maybe Dianne Feinstein?

More importantly, he gave it to the world, and in a responsible manner.

Russia isn't sheltering Snowden purely for purposes of goodwill. Russia places great emphasis on reciprocity. It is sheltering him for mutual benefit: giving him shelter (his need) in exchange for critical information (its need). To believe that Russia would allow Snowden to reside there in the face of strong U.S. pressure and that the FSB would keep its hands off the contents of Snowden's laptops/flash drives doesn't make much sense. Russia would want something in return for its efforts and it almost certainly has it, and probably voluntarily in exchange for his being permitted to leave the airport.

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

I hate what the NSA was and still is doing to US Citizens.

Snowden is still a traitor - for doing what he did the way he did it. He damn sure ain't no hero for giving China and then Russia everything that he had.

Interesting that all three branches of government made changes due to his outing the info. (his words)

He said he tried to do it the right way. (guessing as a whistle blower) but was rebuffed.

I personally didn't need Snowden to tell me that our government does many unseemly and unconstitutional things. I known that pretty much since I was a teen.

I also doubt Russia or China was surprised by the info although, if he's labeled a traitor, that act would qualify.

Massive spying, TSA, HLS, Patriot Act, lists for everything, free speech zones, infinity war, etc. The government does what it wants, it does not listen to the People nor is it constrained by the Constitution. It has morphed into a fascist regime and is clearly aimed at the rights and liberties of the people. Speech will become more stifled, the press more cotrolled, privacy and property will go away as concepts and will be replaced by the ever watchful eye of a Big Brother.

It seems pretty obvious. Oh sure, I mean if you keep your head down and your mouth shut, it can functionally appear as if nothing has changed dramatically, but it has. The very foundation of liberty is being erroded, and if we don't look up, don't open our mouths soon...it's going to degrade into an unsalvageable system.

I would like to see a link documenting that. There is no suggestion that Snowden gave either of those Nations anything, and he is only in Russia because of USA State Dept. revocation of Visa while he was in transit at the Moscow Airport. And while you are at it, show one piece of military info that he has revealed and even one individual damaged by his revelations. These are simple requests to a simple mind. If what you say is true, you will have no problem producing the requisite links.

Don, you are a consistent mouthpiece for the USA Gov't line of propaganda. Your hypotheticals require links or they are simply bureaucratic bullcrap. End of story.

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

I have followed this storyline since 2005 when Risen of the New York Times told us all about it.

There is no doubt that Edward Snowden's leaks have resulted in a huge "Loss" for the U.S., but it will not be expressed with "Lives Lost", but rather huge financial losses for all U.S. tech manufacturing companies.

The U.S. has based its future on the "Information Age" rather than industrial manufacturing and it is now all lost.

The U.S. does not talk much about what it is costing them financially because it brings to mind the economic espionage aspects of the surveillance, so they dwell upon "Lives Lost" rather than the collapse of the technology sector within North America. Nobody investing in commercial software or high-end computer hardware wants to purchase U.S. made products.

The real reason for the "Domestic Surveillance" is to get all the toys in place for the implementation of a Police State as the North American economy continues to crumble.

Snowden = Hero.

Actually, he said he had a plane ticket to Cuba, but was trapped in Russia when the US revoked his passport.

Also, he said he doesn't even have a high school diploma, which makes the jobs he was able to obtain even more impressive. Is he a con-artist like that guy on the Catch Me If You Can movie with Leo Dicaprio and Tom Hanks?

Edit: Apparently he missed a lot of high school because of illness, so instead of continuing high school, completed a GED and then graduated college. Kind of mis-leading when he says he doesn't even have a high school diploma, but true.

That would be the answer to, "What freedoms to you think we've lost?"

What's the answer to my question: "How are you less free after 9/11?"

And how have you or anyone you know been put in any danger whatsoever by any of Snowden's revelations?

Of course. National security violations endanger us all.

Do you propose releasing all classified documents?

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

QUESTION TO ALL: Had 911 not happened.......with today's technology and world paranoia would spying on US citizens be less than it is at present? To me this and all governments are very willing to spy on their own people without regard to law. It is the technological world we live in. If they care capable of doing it they will do it.

I asked the question to Maggie to show that her logic cuts both ways, but seeing as you're here now, please, by all means, show me the evidence that anyone whatsoever has been harmed, and I'd like names. Otherwise you're just making unsubstantiated wild guesses to fit your bias.

Specifics are not necessary. When national security is violated, it harms all Americans. If that were not so, you could advocate the release of all classified documents.

Re: Edward Snowden NBC NEWS FULL INTERVIEW

Nobody in particular. He has revealed the truth. Massive surveillance is obviously unconstitutional.

I am still on a wait and see mode with Snowden. We can reasonably expect his interview would be self serving and more than once in the interview I sensed that was the case to the point of him not being entirely truthful in his response. (I have a hobby of watching body language, voice inflections, eye responses, etc. and while not an expert, sometimes will get it right.)

But for me, the most compelling part of the interview was his explanation of how intrusive 'data mining' has become and is almost certainly utilized by people with power to control and/or hurt us. Who among us hasn't noticed that even as we are typing an innocuous post about "Joe the Plumber" a plumbing ad coincidentally appears. . . .or if we are discussing the automobile industry, the ad will be of a new car? Or such as that?

If commerce and industry or their advertising gurus have the ability and know how to track us to that extent, how can we know that our government is not using the same technology? And who is to say that there aren't tracking chips in our smart phones or in our automobiles or surveillance cameras wherever we go.

What I heard from Snowden last night is that Orwell's "1984" scenario of 'big brother' is much closer than any of us might be comfortable with if we knew how we are being monitored and tracked.

And how have you or anyone you know been put in any danger whatsoever by any of Snowden's revelations?

I haven't been. Neither would I be put in danger if he had revealed the names of in-country spies. But top secret is top secret.

Ok, then I accuse you of violating our national security. I don't need evidence, it's national security.

I'm betting more often than not you get it right. We come by those instincts naturally, so being aware of and honing them is a very powerful tool. Body language has always intrigued me. Some of us are better at reading it than others. I like to think I'm pretty good at it myself. Sometimes it's so obvious...one's body language is so far removed from the words coming from one's mouth.
