Fast-food workers kick off global labor action

You conflating two different eras that are worlds apart. College was way cheaper during the 60's than it is now. If it was hard for some then it's damn near impossible for some now.

It was YOU who brought up the supposed difference in eras, and you are wrong. I can get a degree online now for far less than the average cost of college in the 1960s (in 1960 dollars). Community colleges still exist in every state and most localities. You're full of excuses.

Most if not all fast food restaurants do not accept tips. Worked at Subway for some time during highschool and we were told never to accept tips.

Maybe when high school is over they can continue their education and then get a real job.

No I'm not you just don't know what you are talking about. Please show me a online college, an accredited one, that offers degrees that cheap.

Only if you want it to be...

i started college in the fall of 1982 at the university of tennessee and tuition for a year was less then a thousand dollars not including books/supplies. now it's 5, 6 times that amount per year.

I live in the world of reality. If you have a solution that includes all the real variables, low income jobs, low income families, and increasing tuition that is exceeding a total of 30,000 then by all means share with us.

Thanks, but actually I do see the beauty of your country (amazing history and landscape) and think it's a wonderful place for those who don't mind being subjects. No objection whatsoever, as long as it stays on that side of the pond.
Lol thanks.

You know, sometimes I really do get frustrated with how little freedom we have here. But then I remember FOX news (which I still do watch from time to time admittedly for comedic reasons mostly) and I certainly wouldn't want that kind of freedom over here. MSNBC is terrible but their bigotry isn't as bad as FOX.

 Yea because its about socialism. I just think they should get paid a $15 wage because it keeps up with productivity and inflation, and its also because ifs liveable, and allows more purchasing power.

Reality dictates that if you want purchasing power then get an education that allows you to acquire a job that pays that well.

What kind of essential skills do you think minimum wage workers possess?

So that means that to put it simply, compared to the 1960's, a worker wouldn't get as much bang for their buck today.

Its called student loans. Those who live in reality pay it and have college degrees and advanced degrees.

Its better than living on minimum wage.

Maybe you should check your own source.
Cost's at Walden:
Final cost for 4 years: $56,770
Final cost for 2 years: $29,180

University of Phoenix:
$22,100 for an AD
Cost of Bachelors Degree at University of Phoenix is $56,900. $34,800 for years 3 and 4 plus $22,100 for years 1 and 2, or $56,900

Kaplan University:
$371 per credit hour
Associates Degree = 90 credits = $33,390
$800 Technology Fee

Bachelors Degree = 180 credits = $66,780
$1,600 Technology Fee

The trend follows for each subsequent college listed. Like I said college is more than what you had to pay.

Then do this. open a restuarant pay your people 15 an hour and see how long you are in business.

ol wait they tried that. lookup a restuarant in DC that was called colors. they did the same thing and it was a co-op. guess what it failed and is now closed.

Okedoke.

Heh, I too watch those channels solely for comedy relief. And one of my Grandma's sayings was, "freedom also means you're free to starve unless you get off your butt and go to work".

i think online degrees/courses are a sham. they are too easily manipulated to pass a course.

Have you been enrolled in an online degree program?

Because that's not my experience...

Yes, but their average salaries have increased to where they have more bucks with which to make that bang.

So you would let that get in your way of a good education?

If you think education is expensive then try ignorance.

There's always minimum wage.

No I live in reality. You don't.
