This is the face of today's fast food workers -- 70% of whom are over the age of 20, nearly 40% have children and a third of them have spent some time in college, according to U.S. census data.

But that doesn't mean the value of a fast food worker is higher. It's a low skilled job that anyone can do, and plenty of people are willing to do. If it was a special skill that only a select group could do, or something that not many people are willing to do, it would pay much higher wages.
