Michael Jordan: I was against all white people

Why is this not big news in light of the recent Donald Sterling scandal? Paula Deen lost her career simply for saying that she used the 'N' word a long time ago. Why no backlash on Michael Jordan?

Michael Jordan's upbringing detailed in new book - ESPN

Why don't you read what he said? He simply admitted he hated white people when he was a teen.

Hardly criminal. He grew up.

I'm all for calling out black people for their racism. I called out Barkely's comments about the NBA. But Jordan was a kid.

Right, I read what he said. Paula Deen admitted that she used the N word over 3 decades ago, and she grew up, and it was all over the news and she lost her career. Why does Jordan get a pass?

I'm not saying Jordan should be hated and lose his current career over this, but I also don't think others should have their name smeared and lose their careers either over similar past actions or feelings.

1.)Said he hated white people as a kid
2.)Paula Deen has multiple racial incidents all when she was an adult.

IMO Paula Dean got canned for using fat in her recipes by the food nazis.

Ummmm in addition to her childhood she admitting using it as an adult and and in more recent years.

There is a difference here. Rather large actually.

Her hypocrisy on diabetes was a rather significant factor.

She used the N word. Snoop Doggy Dogg uses the N word every other word and that trash is looked up to as some sort of hero.

Who cares? Those of you who haven't used the N word cast the first stone. If you say you never have...you are a liar.

I'm sick of all this whiny race-baiting crap. You all need to grow up and realize Utopia is unreachable. Man is fallible and sinful.

Let me preface my comment by saying that when I was growing up Michael Jordan was my idol. He's the one that got me interested in basketball. Now, I'm not angry or upset by his admission given the context of U.S. History and the treatment of blacks, particularly 30+ years ago. No, what is bothersome is the lack of noise coming from the Always Outraged Liberal PC Mob©. If it was Larry Bird who said that the AOLPCM© would be sharpening pitchforks and lighting their torches demanding action. There's *zero* consistency from the U.S. left-wing when it comes to race. That is evidenced by comments made by Snoop Dogg, Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson. If the racism comes from their team, there's a pass, but if it isn't a team member then there is ****ing hell to be paid in full.

To be fair, I have no idea where Michael Jordan stands politically, but you are correct.

I guess this means we will have to ask him to give up the Clippers than.

Look, you are preaching to the choir here. But Jordan was a kid. If he was saying that as an adult, it would be different.

No, the Charlotte Bobcats. Michael Jordan owns the Charlotte Bobcats.

I was trying to be clever and apparently failed miserably.

Sorry, I know you were hoping for people to say that their is a double standard for African-Americans, but that is not the situation in this case. Jordan was talking about a time in the past when he suffered a lot of harassment from whites. People who repudiate the mistakes of their past are rarely criticized, because they have already learned their lesson.

I'm pretty liberal and I speak out about it consistently.

If Larry Bird said that he hated all black people when he was a teenager, do you think it would be big news?

What's up with all the conservatives who claim to be liberal in their profiles?

There's a lot of white people who grow up around black people who suffer harassment from them. If they were famous and said that they hated all black people as a teenager, their name would be smeared and their career destroyed. We all know that.

If your point is that there is a double standard...that ship has sailed. Not exactly news is it?
