AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W:54]

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

What if a bunch of activists decide to go around and protest any business displaying the "If you are Buying, We are Selling" labels. You ok with that? Oh - the AFA is already doing that. How strange, and they are such a good group of Christians too.

Hey, as so many on this thread have indicated, it is their right to protest. I agree. Let them demonstrate all they want, and they can be judged accordingly.

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

Because businesses going under for making the wrong choices is fascism

Wow. If that's what you think, all the power to ya! :peace

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

I think it's kind of a good idea when discussing an issue to accurately present the facts.

From what I've seen, the stickers don't have "We do serve gays" printed on them.

No the stickers say "We don't discriminate. If you're buying we're selling." Along with the LGBT rainbow. They are being distributed by a local LGBT group Equality Mississippi, in response to the new law that allows businesses to discriminate based on their "religious beliefs".

I would 100% support the right of Free Speech. How about you do you support Free Speech?

Why wouldn't I?

I just have a problem with the requirement one has to join a club to be allowed to do business.

I recognize you can't see that connection.

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

The key is owners and CUSTOMERS.

I don't know what you picture the real world to be, but in the real world that got us to this point in time, it wasn't a requirement to post a sign to prove you don't discriminate against other people.

What if a bunch of activists decide to go around and protest any business not displaying the appropriate "support" labels. You ok with that?

I've never suggested anyone should be kept from protesting.

Thanks for you opinion.

Seems to me that you are the one who is concerned with boycotts, and protests. If customers want to boycott, they will boycott. Several different groups do this already for many reasons.

Thank you. I am aware of this. Perhaps you should have directed this to the other poster who claimed the stickers had "We do serve gays" on them.

Please cite for us any "requirement" that a business must display such a sticker "to be allowed to do business".

No one is REQUIRED to do anything. Businesses can CHOOSE to put up a sticker. Businesses are still up and running without a sticker. No business has been denied a business license for not having a sticker. The vast majority of MS businesses do not have a sticker. How is that a REQUIREMENT?

The sticker campaign is about the "turn away the gays" law that was just passed. Of course it has absolutely nothing to do with gays.

I'm not concerned with protests. I'm concerned with judgments based on whether one displays the proper affiliation. There is a lot of history related to such things that people seem to ignore.

Do I think 500 sticker from an LGBT group is a hill to die on? No, I don't.

But my comments have been only to focus on the idea that one must display a badge in order to be judged.

My gosh, it there any hope for the world?

I'm afraid I'll just leave you to what it is you think you read and comprehend.

Thanks for the exchange of words.

Again, people, and businesses are judged on numerous things. This is just one more.
And no one is saying that anyone MUST do anything.

I LIVE in MS, and have been involved in the "religious freedom" law since it first was proposed. I am also a member of Equality MS, and have been involved in the sticker campaign. So I do believe that I know why the campaign was started, and about the law as passed. While you are going on and on about "requirements" and "membership". I am explaining why the campaign was started in the first place.

Here's one from the other side; a shop in Kentucky put up a row of stickers on their window, one of them is the negative sign over a rainbow flag

So the New testament, or one verse anyway, guns and beards are OK but cursing and gays aren't welcome

How are store managers to know whether their customers are gay or not?

How are store managers to know whether their customers are gay or not?

Two women or two men walking in holding hands is a good indication.

The storefront in question is for a Print Shop. If the customers are ordering wedding announcements for Joan and Jane, that would be a good indication.

In Kentucky discrimination based on the sexual orientation of the couple is legal so there is no problem.

Well, yes, of course. But, absent some sexual actions of some sort, there's really no way to know.

Since when is holding hand a sexual action? I hold hands with my 9 year old.

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

Does the AFA have credibility with anyone with a half a brain? They seem to be seriously irony impaired. While complaining that anti-discrimination campaign is bullying they have a a large portion of their website dedicated to their own "bullying" to get signs and media they don't like banned.

"...AFA is pleased to help citizens lead the battle in their community by providing a step-by-step guide entitled Glossy Garbage: What one person can do about offensive grocery store magazine covers"

"...The most common billboards are those placed by the local rock radio stations or adult oreinted business. History has proved to me that attempting to appeal to a business owner's common sense of decency will result in failure. If these business owners had morals, the billboards would no be up in the first place. You must be prepared to dedicate yourself to winning this battle directly to the billboard company. It will require hard work, but it is winnable...."

"When AFA called for a boycott of Home Depot three years ago because of its support of homosexual activist groups, I knew we were taking on a huge task."

They say they serve everybody, essentially. Which I think includes gays and Christians, too.

How evil can they get, serving everybody? Next thing you know there will be restaurants that serve black AND white customers at the same time.

Show them hot man on man action and see if they get aroused?

Well, that's OK. You can do those things or protest if you're a conservative. But don't you dare stop eating at Chick-fil-A, you evil fascist!

Re: AFA: Shops who display ‘We Don’t Discriminate’ stickers are bullying Christians[W

The anti-discrimination campaign reminds me of the beginning of the Not In Our Town movement.

"In 1993, Billings was rocked with a wave of hate crimes. The residents of Billings, the faith community, government leaders, labor, and community organizations pulled together to stand against hate and intolerance and to say: "NOT IN OUR TOWN". It was a movement that inspired a documentary series that has engaged communities around the world. We are here to carry forth and advance that legacy."
