Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that video w

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

No that us simply not true. And it was Bush and his people (note: you don't have Obama in the emails either. Just noting your inconsistency)

You are wrong. The information used backed up or agreed with over 20 years of known history of the Saddam regime. It was actually quite natural to deem it true. The only real fault was source critique.

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

No, it could have been a misunderstanding. It could have been someone went a little rouge and Hillary quickly ended that. What I am saying is jumping to conclusions isn't all that helpful. So far, this has been all noise on your sides part and little actual substance.

I could have come from little green men from Mars as well....but let's stick to plausible explanations, shall we?

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

When a politician, like the loser in charge, are wrong about their facts I can accept that. You will ever hardly hear me complain about his failure to cut our health care cost by $2,500 per family because that was merely a promise he couldn't keep. Its not a big deal to me. When the dictator lies to us and the United Nations some 14 days later about the events of a militant and violent action against American interest when he KNEW that wasn't the fact (14 days later) then he should be impeached for - if nothing else - perjury.

The whole thing baffles me.
If the WH thought that a video was the cause and they were wrong.....so what?
Four Americans were killed in a war zone.
Security in Benghazi wasn't sufficient to fend off this attack.
Our security has been improved since the attack, hopefully.
Doubtful that the Prez's margin of victory was affected at all.

No, go, it wasn't. Bush took it beyond what was known, using doubted intel.

Absolutely incorrect.

You had a Dictator who had used Chemical weapons not only on his enemies, but on his own people. You had a Dictator claiming for ten years that he had chemical weapons and the ability to make them....then you had an insider (the questionable source) claim that he had them.

Try again, Boo, your attempt to derail this subject is failing miserably.

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

this just reaffirms what a lot people already knew about the situation in that the administration pushed a set of points about the attack that they knew to be false.

andrew mccarthy hits the nail on the head about the issue as best that can be done.

the administration's response was to protect their campaign for reelection by lying.

No. We had inspectors in there for years. We had already had accounted for much of it. We knew his capacity had been hindered. After Clinton bombed the aspirin factory, we declared that threat over (check comments by his defense sec.). We suspected he had some left over wmds, with no real way to house them. Bush took it well beyond that. He said growing and gathering, with no real support for that. He exaggerated everything, ignoring the many voices pointing out that error. You may forget the French didn't buy it. So, we demonized the French. The UN wouldn't back it, calling us the greatest threat to peace. Surprising, we demonized the UN. At every turn the correct voices, those who were right, who called them on their deception, those who wanted war made excuses, threw out fallacious statements of everyone agreeing, having now demonized disagreement.

So, no, the willingness of some to believe and ignore voices to the contrary doesn't equal everyone agreed.

Oh, boy. Neither the French nor the Russian's "bought it". Turns out that they were the two countries with sovereign oil fields in Iraq. You're going to have to do better than "Bush exaggerated".

Now, Bush is no longer President, how about we talk about the current President's lies. Well, at least the lies about Benghazi....all the other lies will have to be for other threads.

See what I mean? But they weren't alone. Not only that, they were right.

But, the issue here is that you have less evidence against Obama than I have against Bush. Obama's went in for a few weeks, Bush's to this very day. I'll listen when evidence reaches at least the level of the evidence against Bush. Or when his supporters admit their hypocrisy.

Their opposition had nothing to do with the intel. All they cared about was loosing their oil.

Bull****. Unmitigated Bull****.

Yes it did. Intel doesn't live in a vacuum. Information comes from all over. Nor does the president live sheltered from all information.

And you close your eyes.

I'm not closing anything. You're doing the same thing you claim Bush did...over-valuing information that meets your confirmation bias while ignoring all else. You seem to forget that weapons inspectors were denied access to key places all the way up until the time the troops were at the gate.

You're also ignoring the overwhelming evidence of a WH cover-up now.

i thought this was appropriate. lol...............

No, I hold the possibility that he has done something wrong. I'm merely waiting for evidence to at least reach Bush level. You leap farther than you will even consider with Bush. See the difference? ;)

I know Bush acted on faulty information, and he's guilty of that. What I disagree with is that he lied about it or covered it up, like Obama has absolutely done.

I'm sorry, but he is valid for comparison, just as Clinton was with Bush.

I know. Because you can't connect those obvious dots. You can here, without half the evidence. And that is my point. With Bush, there was nothing new from the Clinton years. They had to go with false testimony from a tortured man that the CIA said likely couldn't know what he claimed. From Chalibi who betrayed us during the first gulf war, to iran (who helped us invade). From his heroes in error (that he put together for us. All doubted by the CIA. And let's not even talk Curveball, who even the New Yorker knew not to trust. Yes, make excuses, but absent the Cheney push and the inappropriate use of intel by Fieth, all working under Bush, this stuff doesn't make it in the intel.

But ignore the evidence. Bush was just too stupid to know what the New Yorker knew. What PBS knew. What many other voices trying to stop him knew. Presidents can't be expected to read or watch shows explaining it.

So yes, I know. You believe Bush was just fooled.

The error was mirror-imaging. We made the mistake of believing that since proving there were no WMD was most important to us it was therefore most important to the Iraqis. It was not. What was most important to the Iraqis was leading the Iranians to believe Iraq did have WMD. The Iranians were fooled, and so was the US. It does not, however, matter that much because the GWB group decided on war in advance of the intel, not because of it. They believed the intel was true, but they also very much wanted it to be true.:peace

I don't believe he was just fooled, I believe he jumped on that which supported his confirmation bias. He reported the information he had, though, and there is no evidence that he fabricated any information sent to the UN (and the US Congress), and the majority of the UN agreed with him (as did the majority of Congress). You and these credible analysts in the New York times are ignoring quite a bit that supported Bush's view. Regardless, Saddam was very invadable for all the other reasons the invasion occurred.

Now, there is no denying that Obama's administration covered up real information and outright lied about what they knew.
