Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that video w

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

To date, the only thing that this investigation has revealed in terms of "wrongdoing" is that the Obama administration clearly lied about the motive for the attack. The obvious reason for that lie is because they were in the midst of a campaign and wanted to protect certain narratives but the reason doesn't really matter. They altered the talking points and this is now established fact.

So then... what should be the penalty for this offense? Is it even criminal?

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

Too much deflection to discuss... let's let's try... I NEVER said the weapons were in the Consulate- you are making crap up. I said the Consulate held the tac center, dso building and militia hq, not just the Ambassador's residence. The ambassador was there to meet a Turkish liaison on the weapons operation, he traveled without a security team because he didn't want one- his fatal mistake. The CIA 'rescue' team missed Ambassador Stevens- it was Libyans who rescued him, took him to a hospital.

Immediately after the mortars hit the roof of the annex, killing two men, and wounding several others- a Predator drone spotted a 'large mass of men' and the evac was on...

I'd love a link backing the need to have the Consulate in Benghazi because that is where Ghadaffi started... please include where it was the State dept who wanted that... that just seems so odd State wanted it but never manned it. It seems like putting a target in the middle of badguy country, not guarding it but the ambassador going in naked on a random visit and a two pronged very effective attack just happens to hit that night.

It was the CIA op that drew the attack and not the Ambassador....

Not where Qadhafi started, where the rebellion against him started. Benghazi is where the ambassador first went ashore. The consulate was there at his insistence. The Turkish meeting had nothing to do with weapons. The ambassador was the target. There was no departure from the annex until relief forces arrived the next day.:peace

Yes, yes. What difference, at this point, does it make? The lies are exposed well after the fact, just like all of the other lies we know of, and probably a host of lies we don't know of. Forced admissions after the fact of accomplished events seems to make little difference as any reverence for the truth is supplanted by a substitute reality.

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

No, it pretty much has gone away.... people just bringing it up because they can not comprehend that the party is actually over. Some people just can't move forward. Progressives can move forward though.

Benghazi is heading for political obscurity along with the other dozen or so embassy attacks that resulted in death. Three years from now when you mention Benghazi at a cocktail party someone certainly will answer with ".... he was a pretty good thirdbaseman, but just could not hit in the clutch.. I'm glad the Mets traded him....."

Well ... looks like they've chosen this approach ... hard to see what else they could do.

The Benghazi story will be part of the Obama legacy. He'll be remembered for one piece of bad legislation and not much else.

That wasn't what I was getting at.

What I am wondering is what exactly is the administration is guilty of? I'll leave it to others to argue the partisan aspects. I just want to know if what they actually did is a crime and if so, what are the consequences.

Nothing legally without a huge stretch, as far as I know. It would be better to check with a legal beagle on that, though. It could be that Obama's new lawyer will come in handy sooner rather than later.

What complete, blithering hogwash. MM is looking at a smoking gun and calling it an incense candle.:peace

I don't know what all the fuss is about... We all know what happened there... Just ask Chrissy:

That's it... End of story.

<sarcasm off>

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

The whole thing baffles me.
If the WH thought that a video was the cause and they were wrong.....so what?
Four Americans were killed in a war zone.
Security in Benghazi wasn't sufficient to fend off this attack.
Our security has been improved since the attack, hopefully.
Doubtful that the Prez's margin of victory was affected at all.

If ever there was an oversimplification coupled with gross insensitivity that's it.

"four Americans were killed in a war zone, so what"? Please drop in on the relatives of the deceased and mention that will you?

It helps to minimize the depth of the scandal to ignore the fact it was not, according to the White House, a "war zone".

It evades the fact the White House once again lied to it's people AND the international community losing more and more credibility. It obscures the fact that a diplomat was involved in CIA activities and that help was denied him and the other three Americans

It obscures all the facts actually.

Use of the word "party" kind of spells out where you're coming from.

It's been "old news" at every NEW revelation.....

The president lied, people died, so what?

The next time a president lies to cover a failed foreign policy more will die, and then it will maybe be the Republicans shouting "old news!"

Great country you want for yourself

Thanks, I needed a good laugh this morning

Don't laugh, its true. Click on the embedded link below:

The Senate report also determined that "there were no efforts by the White House or any other Executive Branch entities to 'cover-up' facts or make alterations for political purposes" -- a reality that Fox has refused to accept.

I wonder if they had access to the just released E-mails ?

Obama isn't Big on providing any corroborating data to incriminate himself.

They also concluded that the State Dept failed to respond to the growing threat from attacks. Failed to provide the needed security.

And you people think Hillary's competent to run the Country ?

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

Hey, mac.
Sorry about the delayed response.
I've been hanging out in the conspiracy forum....I'm a little woozy.
To your point....maybe at the time of the attack, that WAS the best info/guess they had.
The bad info was wrong.

But the bad info was put out after the President supposedly called it a terrorist attack (err, act of terror).

Re: Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that vid

I've been reading them. Explain what's new.

What's new is that it shows White House involvement in formulating (editing) the talking points.

Why would that be new? White staff is always involved, in every administration. This is how it works. I'm sorry, but in reading them I see nothing of any kind of new bombshell.

No, " every administration" did not purposely mislead the American public about the Deaths of 4 Americans right before a election because it was too Politically risky to tell the truth.

We told you people Benghazzi went back to the WH almost immediately aftee it happened and we got " prove it did ".

Well, here's your proof

I don't see anything wrong with that, the White House doesn't want to put a representative on TV that mistakes the known facts. That doesn't matter who the president happens to be, its common sense.

So why did the Obama administration do it ?

Why did they put Susan Rice up to her propaganda spreading 5 appearances ?

It wasn't factual and they knew it wasn't factual

That hasn't been established. What they all do is shape the message. I see people asking questions, looking for the right way put it. For something that only lasted a little while before it was corrected, you will need a lot more than this.

What exactly did Susan Rice say that wasn't factual? (be precise, I want to know the exact words used).

Except that they denied being involved with crafting the talking points.

There wouldn't be anything wrong with it, other than it being a lie, had they not denied doing it.
