4 Alabama counties have more active, registered voters than adult population

The OP actually had two links....one that explained why the stats exist....but like most on the right it was too difficult to deal with the facts.

You mean like your facts, its the Republican's fault there are more registered democrat voters than adults in some Alabama counties.

Still haven't read the article from the OP.....

I don't think you read the article. If so you need to go back and read it with greater comprehension.

Two of these explanations are opinion, one is hearsay. No facts were presented in these explanations; no proof.

He says he heard of instances where residents were suspicious of census takers and wouldn’t answer their questions.

Don Milligan, president of the Alabama Association of the Boards of Registrars, also believes that census under-counting is a factor in some counties that have registration rates close to or exceeding 100 percent.

Milligan said another possible factor is that people are not required to show any identification when they register to vote.

The only fact is this, he then gave an example:

Chaney also said some voters are listed more than once on the rolls because of the voter registration mandates for some public agencies. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 requires all public assistance offices to offer people a chance to register to vote.

For example, some people who are already registered to vote might register again when they go to apply for food stamps or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

So why would an adult register more than once to vote?

To dumb to know you can only register once?

An illegal act by those who register voters?

Incompetence?

All of the above?

You pick...

Of course it is! Republicans always strive to ensure that every Dem old enough to vote is registered to do so - it's a matter of concern that the Dems are so busy running the country that they just don't have the time to do it themselves that they even bother at all!

Sorry I hurt your feelings, sir!

How was it partisan I didn't mention a single political party or persuasion?

Seriously I don't understand the OP's logic here, his source is full of people sayings its probably due to errors in the census and while "over-registration" for lack of a better term may be suggestive of voter fraud, its not proof in and of itself just as lack of "over-registration" is not proof in and of itself that there's no fraud either.

In other words it suggests something may be wrong but its far from conclusive.

How does that not make sense?

Also all these counties have a significantly large black population, so its not really surprising they went for Obama. In fact Hale and Greene county are in the same Congressional district in Alabama and its the only congressional district to have either a female, black, or democrat representative.

Greene County, Alabama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hale County, Alabama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lowndes County, Alabama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Macon County, Alabama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And all these counties lie in the historic "black belt" which describes a string of counties across the South which were home to the majority of plantations and thus slaves during the 1860s and these same areas still have a fairly large black population typically greatly outnumbering whites.

This is a demographic trend that's existed for over a hundred years, I fail to see how "voter fraud" is the answer here.

I've driven through some of these counties and they are in the middle of nowhere. Two lane highways driving through small rural towns through back roads Alabama. I would love to own property in some of these counties; about half way between the gulf coast and Tuscaloosa. Actually Hale Co. and Greene Co. are close to Tuscaloosa. Its God country.

What does the number of registered voters have to do with voter turnout? Especially the number registered in March for a November election? Do you have data where the number of votes cast exceeded the number of voters registered? You do understand that counties purge their voter registration files in advance of a general election, don't you?
You have over 100@ of eligible adults in the county voting. Even if you factor in the alleged anomaly of people refusing to participate in the census...the fact remains that in those 4 counties (counties which OBTW just HAPPEN to have gone for Obama by RIDICULOUSLY large margins in a state where Romney carried the OVERALL number by 22%) those numbers stink. There is an absolute gross misrepresentation of the state as a whole. If you cant see that it is only because you REFUSE to see it.

Did you see my post where I posted the demographics of these counties? You'd expect a county with between 70-85% black population to heavily favor Obama, that was a national trend in the last two Presidental elections.

Ya its nice if you don't mind the humidity, but still did any of that info make you reconsider the notion that the results of the election in those counties was due to voter fraud?

That's false. The article does a good job of obscuring this, but there are far fewer voting than are registered in those counties, and the number voting is less than the population.

I'll list the county, number active registered, number voting, population per census, people actually voting/population in %. The last one is key:

Lowndes, 9585, 7519, 8540 (88%)
Greene, 7,224, 5,328, 6859 (78%)
Macon, 17,071, 10,385, 16,934 (61.3%)
Wilcox, 8,573, 6,547, 8,567 (76.4%)

So, in each county, fewer voted than are listed as the adult population.

Besides, voter fraud leaves a trail. There is a list of everyone who voted. If Alabama thinks there are a large number of the blahs voting twice, they should assign someone to investigate, and find at least ONE case of actual voter fraud. These stories pop up every cycle, and despite the huge advantages to the "photo ID" proponents, we never move from "hey, this is odd..." to cases of demonstrated voter fraud. And the reason is that in person voter fraud is trivial, but bad paperwork and lists that aren't properly updated as common as dirt.

Somebody's got some splainin' to do.

It my county the Director of the Board of Elections will not purge dead voters from the record unless she is presented with a copy of the death certificate.

When a family members dies there is a lot of issues to deal with. I would imagine that having your deceased love one from the voting records isn't even on the list of priorities of things to take care of.

Considering the average percentage of voter turnout in America was 58.2%...if you dont think those numbers in those counties stink to high heaven, you must be a...democrat.

It's easy when you don't believe in voter fraud.

Them Duck Dynasty types tolds those boys how they better vote. :2razz:

Why would you risk the fallout of massive voter fraud on a scale of thousands of votes when that's nowhere near enough what you'd need to win the state?

Yes...and I know that allegedly, Obama pulled 97% of the black vote nationwide in the last election. ALL of the statistics in the black communities are absolute anomalies. WAY beyond statistical norms. It would be no different if there are reported statistics showing greater than normal responses for a white community. The examples cited in those 4 counties are ridiculously above norms.

Chutzpah? No concern about being caught? Why would a poll worker admit to committing fraud by filling out other peoples ballots? Maybe because she got a slap on the wrist and a heroes welcome? Or...I dont know...because they can count on like minded people rushing to their aid insisting there is nothing to see here...move it along.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Obama stole the election through massive voter fraud.

And if it could be proven what could we do about it ?

Makes wonder if we're going to be surprised in 2014 when by some "miracle ' the Dems keep the Senate and take back the House

Well, that's interesting. There is NO evidence of systemic voter fraud by democratic officials anywhere, but despite this utter lack of any evidence, a right winger wouldn't be surprised that voter fraud that is nowhere in the evidence is why Romney lost.

So, it's a 'miracle' (and we know you mean 'fraud') if your team loses? Was it a 'miracle' in 2010 when the GOP took the House? Or because your team won, just the voters righteously expressing their will?

There are regularly documented cases of voter fraud across the country. Every time this subject comes up the dance is the same. "There is no voter fraud." Yes there is. "Prove it." OK....here ya go. "Oh wow...big whooooop. Its not THAT much voter fraud."

Always the same.

You have any links that demonstrate any fraud in these counties? Surely, if more people voted than there are adults, this is something a Barney Fife type investigator to prove, without or without his single bullet.

And no one says, and I didn't say, there is NO voter fraud. Of course there is, we have a population of 320 million, maybe 125 million cast votes in POTUS years, so there are plenty of examples of "voter fraud" each year. Most of it is through absentee ballots.

But there is none demonstrated with this article. The person I responded to said that more than 100% of adults had VOTED. This was FALSE.

Chutzpah? No concern about being caught? Why would a poll worker admit to committing fraud by filling out other peoples ballots? Maybe because she got a slap on the wrist and a heroes welcome? Or, the other option is the poll workers didn't commit massive fraud by filling out other people's ballots.

And if you can point to an example of a democratic official committing election/voter fraud and getting a "hero's welcome" let's see it. No one I've ever seen defends people committing fraud, and especially election officials. What you're doing is just slurring democrats based on nothing.

It just dawned on me. I bet my Dad is still a registered voter, I never thought of sending in his death certificate. Does that mean he is involved in voter fraud?
