Google Patents Tiny Cameras Embedded In Contact Lenses | TechCrunch

Google has patented a smart contact lens that could see its Glass wearable computer fit inside a smart lens.
The firm has already developed a contact lens for diabetics analyses their tears, warning them if their glucose levels are low.
Now it has revealed plans for a lens with a camera built in - opening the possibility of its Glass system being shrunk down significantly, offering features such as 'superzoom' to wearers and even helping the blind see.

you know this is stuff right out of the movies.

heck this is stuff right out of today's TV. now the question is can you websurf etc on it while it is in your eye and how would you operate the OS?
i could almost see going for this. even though i absolutely hate contact lenses.

i wouldn't mind testing it to see what it can do.

Hmm, interesting. I have some privacy concerns regarding something like this, but on the other hand it could completely revolutionize optology as we know it. As the article said, there's a possibility of it being able to help blind people see!

Guess I'm of two minds on this.

At some point, we're going to have to sit down as a society and SERIOUSLY address the issue of Privacy and Technology...

Re: Glass without the glasses: Google patents smart contact lens system with a CAMERA

Given that half the people I know have to hold something at arms length to read it... I'm not sure how you are supposed to see text on a contact lens or on glasses.

Only when people stop being ridiculously giddy and ignorant about the ramifications of new technology.

V'Ger comes to mind.....
