Union threatens Retribution for House Dems Opposing Keystone.....

This is great news......the Big Unions are going after the Demos and Obama. Not only for this pipeline.....but as told to the Hill, it includes O-care. Now that is fantastic. Democrats vs Democrats......all during this upcoming election. Cause by Obama and his delays over this matter too.


A top building trades union is launching a midterm-election assault on House Democrats who oppose construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.



A letter distributed Friday by the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) to the districts of 27 House Democrats calls for union members to make sure their representative "feels the power and the fury of LIUNA this November."

"For every action, there is a reaction, and our reaction to this frontal assault on our way of life needs to be loud and clear. If you do not stand with us, we sure as hell will not stand with you," O'Sullivan wrote, noting the jobs Keystone would create for union members.

LIUNA also sent letters to the House Democrats directly, dangling the 2014 election threat in front of each member. The Democrats on LIUNA’s hit list include Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. (N.J.), Anna Eshoo (Calif.), Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.) and Tim Ryan (Ohio).

The push by LIUNA underscores the backlash President Obama might face in November if he punts a decision on the oil-sands pipeline past the election. The decision pins Obama between different factions in the Democratic base.

The State Department is wrapping up its national interest determination of the project. That is expected to end by early May, allowing Kerry to send his recommendation over to the White House.

Last month, the North America's Building Trades Union and LIUNA met with the American Petroleum Institute to press Obama on approval of the pipeline, linking the delay to broader anger at the administration within the labor movement.

"Our anger doesn't just stop with Keystone XL," O'Sullivan told The Hill in March. "We are extremely angry about the Affordable Care Act and the fact that there is 12.8 percent unemployment in construction.".....snip~

Interesting, but I will have to see it. I mean the unions supporting Republican candidates. I doubt the union leadership will be very pro Republican. But time will tell.

Hi Pero - maybe they're looking at primary challenges. But there's really no reason for unions not to support Republicans, particularly unions that are not wasting vast sums of union dues on Democrat politics.

What we're talking is the union heads supporting the Democrats and as you say, expanding a lot of money to the Democrats. We are not talking about how the union members vote. I seen figure in which up to 40% or so union members support the Republicans. But a union head, I think you have to go back to Nixon to find the last time a major union head supported a Republican.

I don't know. It is very possible that it could mean a primary challenge for some of these Democrats. Whether some of the union vote stays home for the general or even votes for the Republican remains to be seen. If so it could be felt at the ballot box in such key states a Michigan which the race is close.

Yeah, I haven't seen any articles on this matter wherein the Unions talk about supporting the Repubs on this? Maybe on the Keystone for those impacted directly. That is some tangent the left ran with while making **** up.

This issue is probably putting the president and quite a lot of Democrats between a rock and a hard place. To appease the environmentalist, greens, etc, they expect the president to disapprove Keystone. A lot of the union types want the good paying jobs and want the president to approve it and approve it now. I think Obama is trying to walk a tightrope here. He is delaying and delaying his decision afraid if he says yes or no, it may effect some of the vote come November. But then there is always the chance it makes both sides mad and a lot of them stay home. It is like I said, we will have to wait and see.

Oh no doubt.....but at least we know who they are targeting and that it isn't just some useless rhetoric.....like the Libs around here try and play it. You have to remember the left here......does all they can to avoid whatever makes Obama and Team O look bad. Deflect, avoid, and cover over as much as they can. Unions are basically driven by economics, so why not? At the point where big government trumps big business, big labor will side wherever their best interests are.

I think come November it will all depend where the Keystone and perhaps the ACA stands as hot issues on their list. Whether a no or non-action on keystone over rides other union issues these folks usually favor. They have to weigh these issues with other issues and then make up their minds. Keystone may be important to them and it may not, as a hot issue, a vote deciding issue. Same with the ACA.

I may be for keystone, but if the Republican candidates are against three, four or more other issues I deem important to me, those other issue will probably over ride keystone. Keep in mind for political pundits every issue is a game changer, but in reality you are probably talking about a point of two percentage wise in any election. But a point or two taken from Landrieu or Pryor and given to Cassidy and Cotton, it may mean the difference between victory or defeat in those two states. The races are that close. Other states a point or two is just chicken feed.

As I say, time will tell.

Perfect timing. Obama has spent the last 5 years saying jobs were his #1 priority-and yet his green jobs, shovel ready jobs, lost jobs from Obamacare, etc have not delivered.

I think its pretty clear that he's full of it at this point. I expect more of this to come-the dems are really a mob of different groups with very different interests, and frankly I think they have less in common amongst themselves than conservatives do.

This is only the beginning, the dems are really going to take a beating this fall.

Well its not just here Pero.....all one need do is look at Illinois and the Pension reform.....its the Demos that have stolen money from their Unions and it is the Demos themselves screwing over the Teachers Unions and City and State Workers. Sure it isn't going change anything politically for Chicago and Illinois.....but it does highlight that Unions will be taking it to the Demos for stealing their money.

I realize that. But it takes something very hot to change one's life long held political views and loyalty to a political party. You're right about Illinois, Durbin is standing at 51% in the latest poll for Illinois senate seat, a 14 point lead. But senator really has nothing to do with inside politics of the state. But Chicago and Illinois is use to corruption. Louisiana use to be that way too.

Are there any other Unions now stepping out with these one and telling the Democrats to knock their BS games off.....look you remember what Chris Matthews just got done doing with sending a message to the Democrats and the Left in this country. You know how it is.....if the Big Unions for Business are going to take a stand.....that will just leave the Federal Government's Union employees as their own Push back.

Most of the lefts pundits even are accepting they will lose the Senate. So why do we all put up with the lefts tactics on avoidance and with anything they have to say out of their mouths. Shouldn't we be jumping them, hammering them, and setting them out for what they are? Until all that really is left.....is their pebble?

It's too early to tell on the senate. Most political pundits/prognosticators have the republicans picking up between 3-8 seats. I have them at 4. Once the primaries are over, everyone will have a better grasp of how November is looking. Will there be any Mourdocks, Aikens, Angles, etc. is the question. The Democrats seem to have a better history at nominating candidate that can win instead of an ideological candidate that can't. This could happen in North Carolina, Georgia, Alaska, the GOP could shoot themselves in the foot in those three states and cost themselves control of the senate. Besides the Republicans have so many states that are up in the air right now whereas the democrats seemed to have a more unite front and settled on a single candidate in most of the races.

I really haven't had much use for public sector unions, but think unions are a good thing in the private sector.

I am looking at the point they made with 80% of whos who. Are going with the Republicans taking the Senate. Not so much the breakdown with the poll at this point of moment. Which now they are also looking at the Demos may even lose more house Seats than was thought.
