One Percenter Convicted Of Raping Infant Child Dodges Jail.

What kind of F'd up article is this from Huffcrap?

As best as I can tell, this creep has been labeled a "1 Percenter" because of his name alone. Nowhere does it mention how wealthy he is, other than he is a great grandson of a DuPont, and he's got a trust.

How about just reporting that this scumbag is getting probation, rather than the pathetic reference to wealth, which may or may not be true?

You can't ignore that the wealthy do get preferential treatment in the justice system, and that is an injustice.

Yeah, its disturbing and disgusting.

I knew a girl though my group, and she wrote letters to her dad. She was trying to him to confess to raping her her whole life, and she shared the correspondences with me.

It was disturbing. In one letter she came flat out and described some of rapes and attacked him. He responded by telling her he was glad to hear from her, and told her how happy he was. She was hysterical after reading it. She was never able to press charges with the letters as evidence.

He seemed like a psychopath and couldn't admit what he did, but this guy did admit to raping his daughter and he got away with it. If he wants to hurt her more, he can rub the fact that he is free in her face..

I don't hesitate to think the guy is a psychopath and feels no remorse or shame. I wouldn't put it past him to emotionally abuse and degrade his daughter with the fact he was never punished for raping her.

If this guy gets to see his daughter ever again it would be a shame. She is young enough that she could be placed for adoption without too many problems.

Yes, and that's why this guy got the "one percenter" label in front of his name. Because the so called 1% hardly ever feels the full weight of the justice system. The media reports the crime of the poor as statistics. It reports the way which the so called 1% gets away with certain crimes in much the same way.

I realize it's critical to promote the narrative, but facts will always trip up the promoters. Believing the so called 1% hardly ever feel the full weight of the justice system is laughable. Such rhetoric only feeds the gullible, and the agenda driven.

Lot's of people have been given preferential treatment in the justice system. What's the point of ignoring all of them?

Since he has admitted it I hope that he will be civilly sued and gets soaked.

IMO, prison is NOTHING to do with rehabilitation and everything to do with protecting society.

Just throw the guy in prison for the maximum and make one of the conditions of his parole that he successfully complete a 'sex offender' treatment.

Frankly, I would put the odds of him ever being a decent human being again as very low.

If you are so f@cked up to do what he did, I INCREDIBLY doubt that a treatment program is going to fix the problem.

I wouldn't have a problem with a suspended sentence as long as the couple paid it all back with interest. Better to get the money back than spend more punishing the people. If they didn't then they should meet the same fate as the 99%.

I once had an employee that stole. I offered him the choice of paying it back with interest or taking a ride in the sheriff's squad car. He paid me back and I dismissed him.

Nobody should be able to pay their way out of prison. This isn't Monopoly.

I agree. I'm talking about negotiating resititution in return for not prosecuting the case.

TD, obviously the crime here is the rape. However in more cases than not, money does buy the justice system.

Now the fault here is not the people with money, but the fact in many cases that money will get guilty people off on crimes most will go to jail for. The fault is the corrupt system that allows this.

Well now, that certainly wouldn't be the case with Bernie Madoff now, would it. One-hundred and fifty years in prison.

I said many cases, not all cases.

I think it all depends on the crime too. Seems like white collar financial crimes are punished quite harshly.

One Percenter Convicted Of Raping Infant Child Dodges Jail Because He 'Will Not Fare Well' A more appropriate sentence would be a 45 caliber slug. And the judge needs a smack upside the head.

Wow, I had to read the story before I could understand by a one percenter would be getting off so light, normally outlaw motor cycle gang members will not be treated to a light sentence. Only then did I understand it was about a filthy rich person and then I understood it. Sadly there is a justice system for "them" and for the rest of the American public. Even in campaign finances is "money a way to express yourself" and in this case money was used to express this guy into a ludicrous punishment for his crimes.

No doubt about it, anyone who rapes a child should probably get a life sentence. It's the same with celebrities.

Recently in Australia a man who raped his daughter for 10 years (with his wife sometimes in the same bed) was given probation and he had to attend a course of some kind, so he got off scott free. As far as I am concerned, anyone who rapes/molests a child should be executed.

Disgusting. HOw does that happen?

In my opinion, it happens because of a couple of things; firstly, our society now provides numerous excuses for peoples' behaviour (economics, had a tough life, not really the person's fault, etc. etc.) they really didn't mean it and saying that magic word "I'm sorry" which they think forgives all actions, and, secondly, society should be about rehabilitation rather than punishment.

As far as I am concerned, the primary duty should be punishment not rehabilitation or forgiveness. People make choices in life and everyone is responsible for their actions. People talk about revenge being a bad thing but I don't think it is. After all, Justice is Revenge dressed in a nice suit.

Criminals usually get bed and breakfast and the victim gets life, either physically, emotionally or mentally or a combination of the three.

Naturally I am disgusted when anyone abuses a child, but why does the poster find it necessary to identify the abuser as a "one percenter" Makes me think he has a futher agenda than the subject he identifies.

I think whenever someone harms a child or an old person, or someone else who is basically defenseless, they should get life in prison.
