On its face the statement was absolutely absurd because these hearings were after everyone found out that the Executive branch had plenty of warning and information regarding the attacks, including warnings from the Intelligence Agencies of France, Russia, Israel, Germany, etc.

Yes, they never seem to menton the attack on the WTC during the Clinton Administration. As far as they know terrorism began on September 11, 2001.

If you really want to trace it back, Osama got his big start fighting against the Soviets in Afghanistan with weaponry provided by the US long before Bill Clinton entered the picture.

EDIT: Or Condi Rice for that matter. Just wanted to make it clear that I think very highly of her before people accuse me of being a sexist.

You're right, there was an article written back in 2012 from a "newspaper" which used the phrase Uncle Tom. Of course, that paper only has a claimed circulation of 70,000 in city of more than 5,000,000. That's not main stream. And as your second link makes plain, the news was generated by twitter posts in the aftermath of Rice's speech.

I wouldn't hold you to account for racist tweets against Democrats, nor would I associate you with a small town newspaper in the backwaters of West Virginia which happened to print something offensive 2 years ago. Why would you demand the same from liberals?

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people of either side of the isle go looking for situations in which they can become offended. If one writer and some racist tweets are all that we need to find to go around accusing people of being racist; then the word doesn't really mean much.

Of course you can go out and look for someone who says something offensive. Why does Ted Rall have anything to do with liberals? There's a cartoon published by both Investors Business Daily and the National Review which has a bunch of dead black men hanging from a tree from nooses, and the tree is titled Sharpton. Does that mean conservatives are "unhinged".

Yes, Condi Rice has been the subject of racist, sexist, and offensive statements. So has every single remotely prominent figure in America. But what's the point of actively searching for these statements? You're quoting obscure things that happened 2-10 years ago in an attempt to discredit people who didn't have anything to do with the offensive statements; just because they hold different beliefs than you.

The point is that people like Ted Rall, and there are many of them, feel they can get away with racism because they are leftists and leftists, according to themselves, can never be racists. It's always others.

And as far as I can tell the only leftist who dares speak out against the leftist racists iis Juan Williams, though there may be others.

Dave Fagan questioned Condi's sexuality on this very thread and I saw one Leftist, to his credit, call him on it. That's rare in leftist circles. Usually when these things happen they remain silent and move on.

Haven't seen the cartoon you're referring to but it probably means Sharpton is unhinged, and that's a fact.

The truth is that it was some Republicans who actually wanted the sequester in order to force spending cuts. So in that sense you can say it's their idea.

I've actually met some fine people in public office, as well as some self serving fools. It's up to the electorate to elect the best person to manage the city, country or state. We should start by focusing on the important things and not their appearance, color of their skin or their sexuality.
