Good post....I think.

How so? Name two newpapers and move on. It's not hard.

It wasn't a difficult question.
I'm guessing Sarah's staff gives her a summary of the day's news, so she really doesn't read any one, or two newspapers.
Her response to this softball question was pathetic.

Easy for you to say.

Yes she is.
How can a Stanford grad hang out with a Seahawk?
Sure, sure....he's a Stanford grad, too....but he's an evil Seahawk, fer crissakes!!
He's part of Pete Carroll's axis of evil!!
Horrible blunder....it's worse than Rummy shaking Saddam's hand.
Maybe Condie will invade Seattle...they've got WMD's (PEDS) after all.

Be careful or I will sic Kam Chancellor on you!

As a life long Hawk fan (since day 1 that is), I absolutely love being the badass in the league. The hate fuels the love. And it will fuel the LOB. They really do feed off of that. Sherman will have a very interesting career.

Hmmph....to quote an infamous politician..."You're either with us, or against us.."
Clearly, your lifelong brainwashing/obsession has led you to the dark side.
Come to the light, my son.....or "shock and awe" is in your future.*

*If we can get a speed burning wide-out.

It doesn't matter. She knew she was going into the wolves' den and didn't prepare for it. That wasn't Katie Couric's fault.

Katie Couric is a joke. For all Palin knew, Katie was going to ask her who she thought was going to get vote off Dancing with the Stars.

I never knew anyone whose job performance was based on what newspapers they read. She was governor of a state, had 5 kids (one special needs), and seemed to have a pretty active life. I know when my kids were young I barely had time to take a shower, forget sit with a cup of coffee and read the newspaper. That didn't mean I wasn't in tune with what was going on in the world, and it certainly didn't make me stupid.

or a well placed dog whistle
given rummy's political history, that is not a far fetched opinion

What complete nonsense. Anyone who uses the term dog whistle should never be taken seriously in a political discussion.

Yeah she was formidable until she started opening her big mouth. She is starting to remind me of Cheney with that leading the world into war crap. Seriously, I would have considered voting for her. But if she is going to advocate that doctrine of pre emption stuff, screw that.

You are right... the word "credible" would be more apt than "formidable". She has the credentials for the job, but her role/association in the advocacy of the Iraq war makes her electability as POTUS practically nil.

What's stopping Condi from trying her luck?

nothing but her own interest

notice that like Elizabeth Warren, another who insists that she is not running, condi is becoming more active - and vocal - on the speaking circuit

Seriously, it doesn't matter. It was her job as a politician, and the job of McCain's campaign people to prepare. They failed in their jobs. "What papers do you read?" is not a hard question. Name 2 newspapers, one of which can be the Wasilla Chronicle or whatever the local paper is called and the New York Times. There. I just answered the question for her, how hard was that?

Instead she was woefully unprepared. But no, that couldn't be it. That wouldn't be a liberal's fault. Personal Responsibility - in your world it means blame someone else.

what makes her inability to respond to such a gimme question is that palin was a ****ing journalism major ... and was still stymied by a question about what media she reads

and the pathetic thing is, palin probably would have nailed the answer to THAT question

former governor of a state. former journalism major. responding to 'what newspapers do you read' should have been beyond easy

She was the governor of a state with more grizzly bears than people (and fewer people than most large cities). She was a glorified park ranger... and even in the role she could not complete her term. She is miserable excuse for a "leader."

I agree she is not stupid, but she is remarkably under-educated and intellectually lazy, which makes her ignorant, which is often confused with being stupid.

It's a typo. You know I mean, but you take advantage of it because you've made yourself look foolish.

He slick, I just go with the flow!!!! :lamo

Yeah, I had forgotten about that mushroom cloud stuff. To me that means she was just programmed by Cheney and not thinking. There were people jumping up and down saying the evidence for that was flimsy. But she went ahead and repeated it anyway, like a robot. Just like this incident, she was ok until she started opening her mouth.

A journalism major decades before. She probably thought she was going to be a reporterette like Ashleigh Banfield.

I was an English major. That doesn't mean I read Shakespeare and Thomas Hardy anymore, nor does that mean I'm supposed to read them anymore.

I'm not sure about the not thinking part.
I think she was just repeating that administration's talking points.
Like a good soldier.
Colin Powell also touted the WMD line and ended up losing a lot of credibility.
Too bad for both of them.

I agree she was/is intellectually lazy. I also don't think the Katie Couric thing was as big as people make it out to be. In the grand scheme of things, anyway. Besides, I blame the McCain staffers for plucking her out of obscurity and setting her in that role. I like Palin, but she wasn't the right person for the VP nod in any way. I was looking for a Marsha Blackburn type if they were hell bent on picking a woman.

Of course it doesn't matter, because YOU CAN'T DO IT! :lamo

This is another of those cases where you think Palin is stupid because someone told you she's stupid.

A journalism major decades before. She probably thought she was going to be a reporterette like Ashleigh Banfield.

More likely, a TV weather girl.
Her degree was in communications with an emphasis on journalism.
Her communications skills seem subpar.

I was an English major. That doesn't mean I read Shakespeare and Thomas Hardy anymore, nor does that mean I'm supposed to read them anymore.

True enough.
But at least you can name two writers you have read.
I wonder what Sarah's response would have been if Couric had asked her what books she's read?

while i am critical of palin, she lacks some essential element to be found credible, she seemed to have an excellent (maybe intuitive) sense about how to motivate an audience. reminded me quite a bit of Ann Richards
before she was added to the ticket, mccain literally could not draw a crowd in a grocery store
his campaign was flat, and headed nowhere until palin became the semi-official spokesmodel for republican values
she was a net plus to that ticket
