Rush Limbaugh selection in children’s book competition causes a stir

So this is a reason to trash his works?

Works!?

Seriously?

I was unaware that skewed personal opinion heavily salted with bull**** is now classified as 'works'.

I suppose that the Kookaid helps to wash those 'works' down more easily.

I also seem to be blissfully unaware that he is the second coming.

Glad that my bull**** filter is always in high.

Do you Rush bastards know what the man stands for? Preaches and believes in?

Seriously. The ignorance in this thread is appalling.

Exactly what was BS?

Yeah, they really wanted a big, overbearing government that confiscated the freedoms that they were trying to protect. Duh!

Here's a dime, go buy a clue.

Considering all of the slamming of Rush, I thought it would be interesting to look at the yokels who buy his schtick. They must be a bunch of ignorant rednecks:

How does that audience compare to the audience which voted for Obama?

Only 20% of Obama's supporters have a post-graduate degree compared to 32% of Rush's audience.
Only 27% of Obama's supporters are college graduates compared to 51% of Rush's audience.

Generally when his lips move.

He believes his own press about how great he is.

I have listened to him enough over the years to recognize that he believes in his own perfection and that he is a legend in his own mind.

He is far from the only huckster who carries those faults.

He reminds me of slimy preachers and self-anointed pastors whose only goals are their personal and financial stature.

Degrees and age are not direct indicators of common sense and intelligence.

An idiot with a degree is a degreed idiot.

Good gravy, I just realized I spelled "too" wrong. I hate that ****.

No beed to be concerned - must be thankful that you are not one of the sheep.

Go smoke some more BC Bud, dude. You're pushing an inversion of reality:

A top aide to Liberal Leader Paul Martin apologized on Sunday shortly after suggesting on national television that Canadians might spend child-care money on beer and popcorn.

Scott Reid, Martin's director of communications, was attacking a Conservative plan to give families of young children $1,200 a year for child care.

"Don't give people 25 bucks a week to blow on beer and popcorn," Reid said during a panel discussion on CBC News: Sunday. "Give them child-care spaces that work. Stephen Harper's plan has nothing to do with child care."

The Conservative on the panel called the comment "an insult," and said it proves that the Liberals don't trust families to make their own choices about what's best for their children.

So let's recap. Conservatives wanted to give families a payment and let them decide how to spend it on child care. Liberals reject that notion and want to spend that money on liberal controlled daycare centers because they don't trust parents to know what is best for their children.

C'mon, don't be obtuse. The quote was, "Give them child-care spaces that work." There was (and still is) a shortage of child-care facilities in many Canadian cities. My son has had to book a year ahead for his son. That's a typical Conservative answer to any problem- throw money at it.
Doesn't mean Reid didn't step on his dick there, but Harper giving $1,200 a year to families who can't find day-care is just a ludicrous, overpriced band-aid meant to pretend an effort to problem-solve.
That was 2005- the Conservatives had just taken power after eight years of Liberal government and surplus budgets. Two years later we were back in the red and have had Conservative deficit budgets ever since.

Yet the red states - Rush's supporters - are the poorest in the Union. How's that college degree working out for them?

Perfectly said. What does he call his show? The EIB network? Excellence In Broadcasting? He toots his own horn worse than just about anybody else I've seen.

I think it takes a big ego for a drug addicted, draft dodging, self promoting whore to paint himself as an US patriot who served the country. But who am I to judge? If a liberal had done this, Rush's head would have exploded.

That's what they do. That's how they make money, that's how they gain influence in broadcasting and even in cultural politics. They promote themselves to beat hell. Their entire programs are meant to be a one long act of shameless self-promotion. Buy my books, buy my coffee mugs, buy my patriotic tea, read your children stories endorsed by me, etc.

I basically have discovered that when I mention someone's more sympathetic voice or face on TV, they get offended by the concept that they enjoy listening to an hour or more of self-promotional ads. Rush, Hannity, Beck, Shultz...it practically doesn't matter. All they really want you to do is buy into their brand and join in the cult of personality. People reference their politics and identities through the personalities more than the politics themselves.

*nods* Agreed.

Now we're talking about Rush being a babysitter?

Hmm.

Well, having kleptomaniacs as babysitters ain't so grand either:

After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount.

That's fine, if you want Rush Limbaugh babysitting your grandchildren...at least you might have something not to blame on liberals. Or, more likely, you'd call him one.

How big is your ego that you have to rename Paul Revere after yourself? "Rush Revere?" Seriously?

**** him

So you mean my children's book about Rocket Jefferson might be a bad thing? Too bad, the sequel was about Rocket Christ.

He's a self-aggrandizing windbag. The only difference between him and Michael Moore is the beard.

That's what they do.

Plenty of observers have noted that Rush is a master of pushing the buttons of liberals. All of his pomposity (Excellence in Broadcasting, etc) works to do this very well. Look at how it's worked in this thread. This is quite funny for his listeners - listening to liberals hit the roof when Rush tweaks them and then having Rush mock them. Sure, it's manipulation and it's designed to boost his ratings, but it's still funny as hell for his audience.
