PUTIN UNITES DEMOCRATS and the GOP.....

Vladimir Putin probably didn’t expect that newly announced Russian sanctions on nine Americans – three top White House aides, three Republicans and three Democrats in Congress – would spark a bipartisan love-in in Washington.

But that’s exactly what happened on Thursday as Moscow retaliated for expanded U.S. sanctions by freezing the assets of a select handful of high-profile Americans and banning them from travel inside Russia.

The other Americans on Russia’s list of people to block included Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economic Affairs Caroline Atkinson, Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Republican Senator Dan Coats of Indiana, and Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.

But the new round of American sanctions broadened the field considerably, reaching into Putin’s inner circle and for the first time affecting an institution, a bank. Obama further warned that the United States would go after entire sectors of Russia’s economy if Putin pushes ahead in Ukraine, perhaps by trying to carve a slice of eastern Ukraine off the rest of the country.....snip~

:rolleyes: those sanctions are just political fluff--the same kind of political fluff that Obama imposed on Russian businessmen who wouldn't be affected by the sanctions given their multiple Swiss/Cayman accounts and holding co. accounts that can't be traced to them.

Putin's main retaliation attack is to hit Exxon. A threat to Exxon would cause the US Congress to bow to Putin because nearly every pol in Congress has dedicated their lives to sucking Tillerson's ****.

Putin has about 1000x more leverage against the US govt. (controlled by Exxon) than the US govt. has against Putin.

Yep then the Iran talks.....but that it is the first bank that's been hit by Obama. So We can expect we will hav to use the Pakis Doorway to get our stuff out of Afghanistan. Plus as you see we are done with the Agreement on Chems with Syria. Since Assad is mopping up the Rebels/Terrorists there. No more agreements over the Space Station or getting their Assistance.

All this to make sure he don't go past Crimea.....as Team Obama already stated there isn't anything to be done about the Crimea.

Which I am sure the Ukrainians have heard that now too.

Bush was never a strong leader, but he was a LIAR, since certain righties still want to politicize foreign affairs. His comments to "bring it on" energized one billion Muslims and the USA continues to have to deal with this disaster, just one of so many left by Bush/Cheney

John McCain, and six other lawmakers says monitors are needed to defuse tensions in Ukraine after Russia's takeover of the Crimean peninsula. The lawmakers visited Ukraine last week and say Russia is using "provocateurs and intelligence agents to brazenly stir trouble" in eastern Ukraine as a possible "manipulated pretext for additional military action.".....snip~

And Obama's failed game of chicken has just been kicked up a notch.

The most sensitive issue of trade integration with the EU is as yet unsigned.
But in its Conclusions on Ukraine, published on Friday, the EU said it was committed to signing the remainder.
The EU also said it would push ahead with similar cooperation deals with two former Soviet republics - Georgia and Moldova - in the summer

Well.....I think Putin is aware that they are trying to work out those trade deals with Georgia and Moldova. Plus I am sure he see what they are doing as a means to try and impose economic leverage on Russia. I had mentioned to another.....what if Putin starts his own group, with those around him?

This interchange between the U.S. and Russia reminds me of a teenage food fight. Why do political people have to act like children? Message to federal government. If you are going to do something meaningful about Ukraine, then do it. Stop talking about it. There is no point in making empty threats or threats of any sort. That is what children do.

The above is a silly attempt to run away from current events under the current president ( if he can be called that). "Oh boy, that Bush guy was a real poo-poo head I bet". the year is 2014 and your boy may go down in history with Macho Camacho Putin as the greatest mass murderer of humanity in history should he screw up (again).

My comment was an indirect post to another con saying Obama was weak. The USA didn't have this problem with politicizing 9/11 until after Bush/Cheney lied us into Iraq. From your post insinuating my boy Obama will be a mass murderer for being No Drama Obama, ....

Any confederation of states has failed to survive as it is easily militarily conquered. However, I do understand there are many Confederates on the forum.

A state is just an artificial division too. Why not part of a state, 1/2 of a city, a neighborhood or a property owner declaring to be an independent country? Why can't I as a majority of one secede from the USA and then declare my property is instead now Iranian territory?

The talk is all diversions from this being a pre-done deal between the USA and Russia. They get whatever they want of former USSR Eastern bloc countries and the USA gets whatever we want of former USSRR Southern bloc counties. To totally divert us stupid, low attention span masses they'll wave their fists at each other publicly.
