Putin Among Peace Prize Nominees

I say if Putin gets it , we bomb Oslo.

shrug...

Not a surprise to me. I mean, Obama got one and look at all the killing and invading he's done.

Much less ridiculous than Obama winning it.

I think Obama, more than anyone in recent history, has devalued the Prize. Alfred Nobel must be spinning in his grave. What a joke.

I suppose Hassan Rouhani will be next after Putin.

Much less ridiculous than Obama winning it.

To Obama's credit I distinctly remember his reaction to winning the prize essentially being "LOL, say what?"

Read the reaction by Obama upon hearing he won the Nobel prize. Throughout it he's doing everything but wearing a t-shirt that says, "Are you people dumb? Why did you give me the Nobel Peace Prize?"

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Good morning.

Well, this is not how I expected to wake up this morning.

After I received the news, Malia walked in and said, "Daddy, you won the Nobel Peace Prize, and it is Bo's birthday."

And then Sasha added, "Plus, we have a three-day weekend coming up."

So it's -- it's good to have kids to keep things in perspective.

I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the decision of the Nobel Committee.

Let me be clear, I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize, men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

Because Putin stopped Obama (a prior winner) from starting a "red ine" war maybe he deserves it. ;)

What percent of the chemical pile ASSAD was using on his own people has been destroyed so far ?

What are you nominating Assad or something?

I guess I wouldn't be surprised anymore if he was next.

These people are mad at Obama because he was nominated.
They're mad at him cuz he took the award, though they'd have been mad at him if he didn't take it for insulting the World.
They're mad at him for taking too long to end Iraq, or for not still having 200,000 troops there, depending on which GOP wing you're listening to.
And now they're trembling at what Rachel Maddow will slam them with tomorrow night .

I think they're just struck with how silly it was for Obama to win when he did. Just as it's silly that now Putin is nominated.

Some people are going to criticize Obama no matter what, but I haven't seen them in this thread.

The nobel's credibility has been vastly eroded this last decade. I would expect that will continue until it's sort of a ... joke.

Well, we've known for a long tome that it's a joke.

Even more importantly how many reports of poison gas use by Assad have there been since the agreement? ZERO. Mission accomplished.

Yet our President isn't out there beating his chest, having learned from GWB or already knowing.
My GOP Congressman, who I do vote for, said yesterday on Crossfire that Georgian soldiers fighting in Iraq in 2008,
were flown back by the USA to Georgia, pissing off Putin.
GOP Rep. Kinzinger supported the POTUSA on Syria, and is still active in the Air Guard, having flown supplies to Iraq while in office.
I want a United front on foreign policy during crises going forth IG, no matter who, and will have righties climbing on me if I don't call out lefties, as it should be.

CPAC--how many GDamn conferences do these GOPs have?
Why no DEM conferences?
Meanwhile, feckless and weak Sen. Kaine from VA still won't call out GOPs on Ukraine.
He masterminded the 2010 disaster as DNC chief.
Thanks for listening.

I'm not sure how much longer they can stretch this out. They should just give the prize to Kim Jong-un and be done with it.

This must be voted on with one of those American Idol call numbers, and college kids are rigging the results.
