Update:part two

Russia has invaded the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine and taken over its civilian and military infrastructure. Not a shot has been fired so far, but Russia is using its superior force to intimidate Ukrainian troops in an attempt to get them to surrender.

Fascinating first hand look at the situation. More videos are coming soon.

Russian Roulette: The Invasion of Ukraine | VICE United States

One of the best unbiased video's and reports I've seen.

Thank you for posting this.

Also, if you want to see what Ukrainian TV is saying LIVE (not in English however) you can go to the following link:

Espreso TV - LIVE - YouTube

Have you see what RT News is saying??? It's almost laughable to see the way the Russians are trying to convince themselves that they're the protectors of peace by their invasion and occupation of Ukraine, and that they are protecting Russia and Russian citizens from... wait for it... Nazi's.

How dare those Russians support a legitimate democratic government over a violent coup.

WTF??? Please... elaborate.

The Ukrainian President was democratically elected. The Constitution requires the approval of the Constitutional Court for the removal of the President from office. The Parliament illegally removed the President without the approval of the Constitutional Court, and did so under the influence of violent protestors. Thus making the current government in Kiev illegitimate and the result of a violent coup.

They voted unanimously, and BTW apparently there's been irregularities in the elections. Democratically elected in the most coarse sense of the term.

The Kiev gov't voted unanimously without the major voting block in Parliament being present. Very unanimous, well mostly unanimous, nearly unanimous, well at any rate lots of votes and less than a Parliamentary majority but similar to unanimous or mostly different from unanimous.

The constitutionally elected President enacted laws that made public gatherings of more than two people illegal and punishable by jail time, making speech that is critical of the government illegal and punishable by jail time, refused to enact the four party agreement allowing for a popular vote for creating ties with the EU, and many other actions that lead to the demonstrations.

Kinda like what happened in this country about 250 years ago... so yeah, I support them.

The President was removed by a vote of the Parliament. A group of representatives that were elected by the same people that voted in the elections you referenced... and with the votes of those that were in the same political party as the president and had previously supported him. It wasn't a coup. To use a term we use here in the US, it was an Impeachment. Did they use their constitution to do this? Maybe not. Maybe you've heard this quoted before:

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

Oh, and BTW, this has been going on for many months. The US media didn't start covering it until the Berkut (the Ukrainian version of the Gestapo which has since been disbanded) started firing on the protestors and the protestors started fighting back.

What part of any of this gives Russia the right to invade and occupy any part of Ukraine? The excuse they're using was the same one used by Germany to occupy the Sudetenland and Austria (even though Austria had a plebiscite / the counting of the vote us still in question), Serbia to attack, invade and start killing in Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia and many, many other examples throughout history.

Maybe we should just allow any freely elected government to turn on its people?

Well spoken.

It's wasnt a de coup, but it wasn't either a democratic road to power. Nor the leaders were moderate/democratic ones.

To be honest i get the feeling like its two brothers who got into a fight about whose toy it was to begin with after the elder brother decided to change the rules of the game in the middle of it because he was loosing, so he called in his big friend who through the table over and stole the toy away from both of them. now they are both kind of pissed off.

Kind of a round about way of saying "they are all acting like children" and sense they are world leaders, that means people die.

His ass was impeached by parliament, too. Don't be a hypocrite.

For anyone who supports Russia in Ukraine... please watch this very brave woman (I hope she's safe):

Post your evidence.

The Constitution requires the approval of the Constitutional Court for a Presidential impeachment. No such approval has been given, therefore the impeachment is illegal.

So because someone is against the action, it's wrong. That has to be by far the stupidest argument I've heard made throughout this whole conflict.

So new cause someone is against the action, it's wrong. That has to be by far the stupidest argument I've heard made throughout this whole conflict.

So, you have nothing to support your claim?

:doh :doh :doh

Oh, I hear ya bro! It's a bitch when you make a factual claim, can't support it and expect people to just take your word for it, because of a superiority complex

What to monarchist is referring to is the fact that the Constitution of Ukraine does not support the action. But the fact is, that the whole government became illegitimate under natural and democratic principles / law because they lost the support of the people, and became destructive to the freedom of the people. Plus you have the whole "he invited a foreign power into the country under false pretences to enforce his rule" thing.

No one has proven that yet.
