Kremlin Clears Way for Force in Ukraine; Separatist Split Feared

You might know something about war, but that doesn't mean Americans as a whole know anything about it. Having two world wars on their home soil changed European culture and gave them a different perspective on war.

That said, I've never met an ex-soldier who was actually in combat who had the political leanings of a hawk. If you do, you would be the first. The lesson most people draw from their time in combat is that they wouldn't wish it on anyone and that it should be an absolute last resort.

Maybe it's different for Europeans as well since it was at home, many of them, including my family, saw their homes destroyed, their women and children right in the middle of the battle zone, not something you ever want to happen to you.

Really? How many soldiers do you know? The vast majority of everyone I know from the time I was 20 on is military or ex-military, and I wouldn't say all of them believe anything.

The fact of the matter is that Europe likes to think they're in a post-violence world. They've been able to think that because the US has been doing the majority of fighting on behalf of Western interests since World War II. The odds of that continuing, though, for the next 70 years as it has the last are very low. They'll learn, sooner or later.

Right on cue. Glory for mother Russia eh comrade?

That's not close to what I said. Russia taking the lead in a country in chaos on their border makes more sense than for America to. I also said it would make sense if Germany or another European country were leading.

I find your patronizing attitude funny, personally. Europe went through two world wars on their own soil, they know more about violence than Americans could ever imagine.

The United States has whipped every one of their asses, at one time, or another, too.

It's probably a good thing that Obama is to chicken**** to make a move on Russia, because he would **** it up nine ways from Sunday.

True. I wish it wasn't too much to ask for a competent president. He's an open book and the worlds bit ch

Obama's going to be more worried about his image than he is about winning the war.

Since that is the case, why would any partisans have a problem with Russia securing said port from fears of being taken over.

How would the USA feel if Taiwan, Japan, or the Philipines, which we don't border, were attacked and fell ?
Russia does have there Black sea fleet and warm water port in Crimea. That much of this can be understood.

That would be the first 'mixed-race' President, and thanks again for bringing up race .
Of course he is. And yet he will get a pass on being a piss poor president because he's "the first black president".

What sort of "move" would you suggest Obama made on Russia?

This is what happens when the US has a weak leader the world can read like an open book-the worlds less savory cats are comfortable openly punking us. Now I know those of us on the left love this thinking its a good thing for the US to lose influence, only to be replaced by violence and less savory characters like russia.

Indeed, the US military should invade Russia

And more hyperpartisan garbage in response to an actual issue. Shocking.

Konservatives are mindless warmongers who think that lack of military aggression and/or diplomacy amounts to cowardice in all cases.

Next.

Just so I'm clear...

There are people who want us to invest billions of dollars we don't have and risk the lives of American soldiers because the Ukraine is having a dispute with Russia? And because we're not willing to go cowboying into a war with Russia on behalf of the Ukraine, that means our President is a "chump"?

Interesting perspective. Reminds me of junior high, where foolish pride was more important than reality.

None. He'll just **** things up. His incompetence is so beyond doubt at this point, anything he does will just make things worse. Therefore, doing nothing is the best thing he can do. Hopefully, we'll get a real president in '16.

What we need to do is deport all the mindless conservative warmongers to Russia, and let Putin have his way with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't in cahoots with Putin, to give the whole show away.

Instead, let's sit back, do nothing, allow things to get totally out of control, then loose even more men and more money getting things back right again.

Hey! That plan worked great during WW2, where 40 million people died, including 400 thousand Americans.

But obama said there would be consequences, that's some pretty tough talk. I'm sure Putin will never go up against obama.

He just said that to pacify all the right wing warmongering loons.

How about the spineless Libbos go fight with their Communist ally? Libbos hate America as much as Putin does.

Today's 90-minute lecture from Obama to Putin included where Putin had to stay.
It also threatened the G-8 summit in June in Sochi, which Putin dearly wants.
While Putin whined of Western influence in Ukraine.

You keep dismissing No Drama Obama v. Bring It On.

Insane! Neither hate America. Wishing to not get involved in a country in chaos on Russia's border is not hating America, its wise.
