U.S. judge orders Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages

Re: And another one down: U.S. judge orders Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages

Not quite true, Judge Heyburn's opinion will likely be appealed to the 6th Circuit Court and if can then go to the SCOTUS.

Appeal and review of District Court decisions is how the system works.

I am not sure where we said anything different.

Re: And another one down: U.S. judge orders Kentucky to recognize same-sex marriages

Why do you lefties keep citing the 14th amendment when it says absolutely nothing about marriage?

Because it says something about equal protection under the law. Would you like to discuss the mechanics of how an equal protection challenge works?

Bunch of whiners.

Yeah, you guys really take this personally. Why do you spend so much time resisting someone else getting married? How does this affect you?

On what grounds was Loving v Virginia decided?

This question is ten years obsolete. It now needs to be addressed to people living in states with legal gay marriage, and should be "How has it effected you?"

Interestingly....there seems to be no effect as of yet.

Everyone (in the end).

Who would it not be better for?

our things that Americans seem to obsess over these days...homosexuality, 'race', income 'inequality' and terrorism.

America would be a far better place (IMO) if Americans just stop caring about the first two (I.e. Equal rights for lesbians/gays and stop caring how much melanin is in others' skin) and stopped worrying so much about the last two.

How would it be better for everyone?

Kiss the tenth and the United STATES of America goodbye. The fed rules all now, might as well just get rid of state's governments. Not brought to us by the Constitution, the Executive or the Legislative Branch, but by the Judiciary Branch which now rule us. The Ayatollahs have the power, the People are just along for the ride.

May be a victory for some, throwing the baby out with the bath water, but it's a textbook pyrrhic victory.

Bullseye. The self-feeding beast crushes all opposition. Arizona a small example of threats of boycotts by many major corporations and the NFL saying they will give then a Super Bowl if they don't get in line. Everyone that stands up for their religion now yields to sex drives of homosexuals backed by liberals and every minority cause in existence. Killing babies
and legalizing pot and gay marriage should anyone dare oppose this they are branded by the media as fascists. Say one wrong word and you will be branded as a hater and rallies will be held to have you punished. Free thinking and opinions are dead.

You do realize do you not, that you are complaining of the death of free thinking and opinion....because people have opinions and free thinking?

Apparently because they are not thinking and opining the way you want them to, yet if they did the thinking would not be free.

Do you or do you not believe in the free market and capitalism? Can people boycott things they don't like or can they not?

I'm not sure you know what free thinking means.

States klssed the 10th away when states wanted their own exclusive[exclusive of the Federal Government] rights in that little experiment in the 1860's.

I answered your question...now you answer mine:

How would accepting gays/lesbians and people of all 'races' as completely equal (rights wise) and have Americans spend less energy on pay inequality and terrorism...who would it not be better for?

Don't get testy. I asked you because your position wasn't clear to me and I wanted to make certain I understood what you were saying, and apparently I did misunderstand you. Because we are in agreement.

Except for pay inequality. I consider that a relevant issue.

Fair enough.

And I wasn't 'testy'...I simply asked you to answer my question since I answered yours.

But I agree my first post was not altogether clear.

Oh please. Drop the victim schtick. What happened to the NFL's right to free thinking? You don't give a crap about that, do you? Quit trying to pretend this is just about your "free thinking" and "expressing your opinion" and "standing up for your religion." You're not doing any of those things. You're attacking someone else's rights. You are taking an action. You're not being called a fascist for expressing an opinion. You're being called a fascist for voting against someone else's rights.

Does same-sex marriage affect you? Does it harm your marriage? Make you love your wife less? Love your children less? More likely to get divorced? Does God approve of your union any less? Does it harm my marriage? How about your neighbor? Is your neighbor's marriage no longer sacred?

If you can't tell me any specific harm done to you or anyone else by two dudes having their relationship recognized by the government, where do you get off demanding that their relationship be illegal? And why do you think this is about sex? Marriage isn't sex, I don't know if anyone told you, but gay people already have sex. Are you seriously suggesting sodomy should be illegal again? And you want to know why you're called a fascist?

Grow up, realize when something isn't your business, and move on with your life. Gay people getting married doesn't affect you, so stop fretting over it.

The NFL's not entitled to their free speech? Boycotts are not an attempt to stifle free speech, they are an exercise in free speech. Too many people seem to think that freedom of speech means freedom from consequence.

Funny how boycotts and threats of economic decisions are OK when the shoe is on the other foot, there is a list of companies the American Family Association has called for Christians to boycott at various times because they treated customers and employees frequently. In other word they were "gay friendly".

7-Eleven,
Abercrombie & Fitch,
American Airlines,
American Girl,
Blockbuster Video,
Burger King,
Calvin Klein,
Carl's Jr.,
Clorox,
Comcast,
Crest,
Ford,
Hallmark Cards,
Hardee's,
Kmart,
Kraft Foods,
S. C. Johnson & Son,
Movie Gallery,
Microsoft,
MTV,
Paramount Pictures,

Universal Studios,
DreamWorks,
Mary Kay,
NutriSystem,
Old Navy,
IKEA,
Sears,
Pampers,
Procter & Gamble,
Target,

Walt Disney Company,
and PepsiCo.
