Like this bill will even pass a committee, or whatever.
Let alone reach congress or get passed.

One idiot presenting a stupid bill he had written by people he pays does not law make.

Who's his podcast audience?

Republicans?

Whackjobs, clearly. It would be dishonest to suggest that such a hamfisted government intervention into a business' hiring practices is representative of mainstream Republican ideology. (particularly in targeting a specific business for such, which is yet another constitutional violation) A Republican might dislike gay people and might not want to be sued for refusing to hire and/or serve gay people, but only someone seriously messed up would believe it should be illegal to hire gay people.

C'mon... And people dont call these people what they are? They are bigots, plain and simple.

If people don't want gay people to play in the NFL than vote with your dollars and don't support the NFL. The market won't work when the government imposes on the NFL in either direction here. If they can't hire gays than the market can't function, but if they must, than again, it can't function. The market is where people should fight this battle, but of course, neither side listens to me.
A large majority of the public isn't going to "vote" with their wallet because of a single aspect that they disagree with in the NFL. People want the best of both worlds: Watching NFL and having homosexuals play in the NFL.

You never know, a bill allowing businesses to not serve homosexuals for religious reasons passed both houses in Arizona.

My simple point was that the average woman would be just as uncomfortable showering with guys as a guy would be showering with a gay man.

And you are basing your claim on what evidence? Let's try for facts shall we?

while i agree 200% they are idiots and it wont pass or at least i HOPE that it wont be taken seriously that has no impact on my post

i mean its not like gays already don't have equal rights and there aren't state laws banning them from marriage or benefits or civil unions or domestic partnerships or adopting or its legal to discriminate against them or fire them just because they are gay. I mean no state political houses are trying to legislate legal discrimination against them or anything.

oh . . . .wait

Personally, I think this guy and anyone who agrees with him is both a bigot and stupid.

But at the same time, I would bet that "anyone who agrees with him" constitutes a very small percentage of the GOP.

Hmm...religious reasons you say? Well I suppose as long as the business is a religious organization....not sure how that would work though.

Powerful GOP lobbyist drafts bill to ban gay athletes from playing in the NFL | The Raw Story

Classic. The GOP slowly sliding into an irrelevant regional party based upon hate. May God have mercy on their souls.

And when the republicans continue to caterwaul and whine next time when they lose, they will be unable to understand that this is not 1962, and people have changed, demographics have changed and the bigotry that they think is just a part of society has vanished, save their nutty contingent, then, I will laugh, heartily.

Because we have been telling them this would happen for a long time.

I left the party...no...it left me, it is a party of angry, uneducated, white, straight, christian, middle aged men. (how is that dwindling demographic doing for ya?)

I am sorry, but what kind of a bigoted idiot would want no gays in the NFL? That kind of bigotry is about as stupid/dangerous and evil as the Ugandan law that jails gays for 14 years or life for being gay. Gay people are the same as any other person, they just happen to be attracted to men. They are not a danger to the general public, they almost never force themselves upon straight men. If anything, gays are very aware that they want to "fit in" and to be respected as equals and not as subhuman monsters.

This lobbyist, if it is true that he is planning this, should be shunned by the republican party because he clearly does not deserve to be rubbing elbows with the people in the country who make and write the laws. If only for the republicans to even avoid the association with someone as evil and rotten as this lobbyist.

Well, he IS a lobbyist. "Evil and rotten" is a compliment to bottom-feeders like lobbyists.

The same idiots that passed an anti-gay bill in Arizona, along with SIX other State's wrong.
Now, three GOP lstate legislators admit it was a mistake, and are begging Gov. Brewer to veto it.
I don't suppose the Super Bowl up for vote in arizona has anything to do with GOP rethinking .

No one is entitled to be part of the NFL or any other private organization. If the NFL does or does not want gays in their business that is their right, and if their customers tell them that is what they want, or that is not what they want, then again, the NFL has the right to act accordingly. People just have to stop thinking they are entitled to equal treatment in the private sector and entitled to the service, labor, and association of others.

If you ask me, both those that want to force the NFL to accept gays and this lobbyist group here are in the wrong and they should just let private individuals handle it. In the end, it really doesn't matter if gays are in the NFL or if they aren't, and frankly, it's no ones business but the business of those in the NFL.

It's only because state legislators get free tickets.

Otherwise...screw the gays!

For your post to have much meaning, you'd have to show that it's been a concern up 'til now.

Yuh and I'd hate to tell the NFL and its players but they've been showering with gays since the beginning. They just didnt come out, lol. Same with the military, same with kids in school gym/sports, same with Boy Scouts, same with everything.

I really do feel for the GOP regulars, even if some say that phrase has motives.
Just in the last week, they've had more Akin moments than they would like.
Wetbacks/several anti-gay state laws/Wolf--Kansas/Nugent--Abbott/Paul--Lewinsky
/Christie a no-show at the RG mtg in DC as well as with the other 49 govs in the WH, who he helped to elect
/GOP lobbyist going no-gay in the NFL.
Help me if I missed any .

I feel for liberals that have nothing better to do than to try and dig up useless stories because no one buys into their ideology so the only thing that they have
left is trying to play the race card which is their standard MO when nothing else works.

funny thing is no one pays attention to this stuff except for left wing liberals.

classic liberal demean and defame tactic. this has nothing to do with the GOP but a lobbyist that has no power at all whatsoever. there isn't a congressman out there that would even put this up for a vote.

But it seems like a growing trend, albeit small thus far...not just an isolated incident. It goes hand in hand with KS and AZ proposing their own discriminatory laws.

No... They actually WANT most of this. Bringing out the knuckle draggers to the polls in 2014 is Job 1 in their book.

And burying Christie right now is a positive.

Because a single lobbyist with no listed specific GOP support in congress is clearly a representation of the "GOP" as an entity

This is idiotic to even bother a staffer with, let alone ever seeing even a committee.

This lobbyist (and he's really a nobody, from the sounds of it), as per the link I posted, claims to have 5 House members and one senator who would be willing to co-sponsor it. My bull**** meter went off the charts when I saw that claim. I don't even think the Louie Gohmerts of the world would touch this alleged bill.

Yes but the Republicans managed to turn off a large number of women voters in the last election for Romney...by few truly substantial threats but lots of stupid **** like 'legitimate rape.'

This is more of the same useless but 'visible' crap.

The NFL would have a problem with that because gays are a protected class in some states, including some with franchises, like WA St.
