Boeing Paid No Federal Income Tax Last Year: Analysis

Oh, are you talking about those taxes sitting in offshore tax havens?

I find it funny those middle income people that don't pay federal income taxes are called freeloaders, while we ignore it from multi billion dollar multinationals.

It would be fun to do a study, or find a study, that looked at corporate wealth in a country versus per capita income or even income in the bottom quintile (when subsidies are included). It seems to me that one of the traits in undeveloped countries is a poor corporation system and the majority of people being self employed. In Laos, for example, it appears that 90% of the population is self employed, with their little farm, or fishing boat, or motorcycle/taxi, or sidewalk stall to sell merchandise. And the per capital income is $3,000/yr.
I suppose that we could eliminate corporations and the pooling of capital for building, infrastructure, and hiring people.

BTW, one of the advantages in the US is anyone can buy stock/equity and take advantage of those tax breaks.

Mexico's economy harmed hundreds of thousands of its small farmers when big Ag set up. It happens to a lot of undeveloped nations.

Its not really an offshore loophole though. Bottom line is that it constitutes a foreign investment and ultimately for taxation to lay one needs a jurisdictional basis, ie. minimum contacts. The United States and each individual state of course is a tax jurisdiction and if somebody avails themself of this jurisdiction they will have to pay tax. Fact is people aren't exploiting a loophole, they're choosing not to engage in taxable activity here, engaging in activities elsewhere that aren't subject to tax in the United States. Now a US Citizen is taxed on his or her worldwide income. This is because of the general jurisdiction the US has over your person.

Here's the rub, when a US person owns a share in a foreign corporation, the United States cannot tax that foreign corporation, it can only tax the dividends received by the US citizen when paid out by the foreign corporation.

Someday some of you might want to retire to the Bahamas or the BVI or Belize and when you do you might want to open a bar on the beach and when you do you won't be 'doing business in the United States' so not paying tax here isn't going to feel like a 'loophole' is it?

When you take the shunpike, you don't have to pay the toll on the turnpike.

No point missed. The tax system is f'd up.
I agree. However, an offshore account isn't where taxes are kept.

Why should corporations pay taxes or get tax breaks. Let the stock holders pay taxes on their profits rather than taxing them twice. Let the burden of taxes and paying the tax attorneys be lifted so they can sell their products cheaper to the public and compete better in the world market.

That would be fine if they didn't claim personhood and only use that term when it benefits them while trying to distant themselves when it doesn't. I say no corp tax and NO personhood. A good swap!

When Boeing takes billions in taxpayer funds but pays no taxes, it's good. We should reduce their taxes further.

When the poor take thousands in taxpayer funds, it's evil. They should have their right to vote taken away and be drug tested despite the lack of probable cause.

We can't lower below zero.

Also, eliminate corporate welfare as well. Problem solved.

But if you are talking about all the planes we buy from Boeing, it seems perverse to tax Boeing on the money the government pays them for their goods.

Really, are we supposed to take the words of a comedian other than a joke.

Could not find a better example of how an uneducated electorate is hurtful to America.

Lighten up a little.

It's wrong anyway. The problem with the tax code came about because they kept adding onto it until it became a disaster.

Agree that the tax code is a mess. Just not sure we have a public or congress with the capability to fix it.

The tax code was completely re-written in 1986....

Im confused. The op thinks that corps shouldn't pay income taxes, but when they don't, claims the system is rigged.

The tax payer is getting a jet from Boeing. What are we getting from the poor?

I got a jet? Awesome! Where can I pick it up?

Take a bus and be quiet. Bitch about a baseball pitcher making $39,000 for every pitch he throws. Which is crazier?

I think when you are down to quoting Jon Stewart and The Comedy Channel to bolster your position, it's time to pack it in and admit you are wrong. You pretty much got nothin'.
