Noose Found Around The Neck Of Statue Honoring Civil Rights Icon At Ole Miss

Police at the University of Mississippi are investigating a racially inflammatory incident involving a statue depicting a civil rights icon.

According to The Daily Mississippian, the student-run newspaper at Ole Miss, a noose was found on Sunday morning around the neck of the school's James Meredith statue. A pre-2003 Georgia state flag, which featured the "stars and bars" of the Confederacy, was also draped around the statue's shoulders

Such gross and stupid incidents of racial incitement often turn out to be false flag operations.

Sounds like a simple cases of real life trolling more than anything else.

The bozos are probably laughing their asses off right now.

Problem with real life bozos is that they sometimes do real life people harm, after they get bored with trolling around with statuettes and Jewish grave stones.

It doesn't matter either way. There are some people out there who would do it for racist reasons, some people out there who would do it as a sort of false flag, and others as Gathomas said who would just be trolling. It really doesn't matter which one of them actually did it since there's a good number of each category.

Two white guys shouting out "white power" and "ni@@"....:thinking

Did they suffer from tourette's?

Any more context? LOL

Or are we just to assume that the students at Ole Miss are in the habit of giving shout outs as they walk between classes?

I see this as being either a) a legitimate act of hate against black people, b) a prank or dare of the poorest taste, or c) a fake act meant to incite racial tensions (which we actually saw several of a few years back after the Jena incident). Any of these is really possible, even with the witness report. Until more information comes out, I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

I am curious though on what exactly this would be charged as. Is it malicious mischief or trespassing (although, I guess this would depend on whether they could be there or not)? I don't think it would be destruction of property since nothing was actually damaged. And hate crime laws only apply after a person has been found guilty (at least in Miss.).

Solution: Remove noose from inanimate object and throw it away. Problem solved.

Unfortunate solution: Write news article drawing attention to bigoted morons resulting in bigoted morons getting a bunch of attention. Bigoted morons win.

Why do you feel the need to preemptive come up with an excuse, especially one based on pure speculation?

So since the only racists are liberals, this was done by conservatives to make it look bad?

You mean it wasn't intended to incite racial tension?

Yes because there is simply no racism left in Mississippi.

Honestly, is there no end to the ability of some to rationalize this type of stupidity?

Well, glad we shut the book on that case, Columbo.

Keep telling yourself that.

I bet it was a double false flag operation, instead of liberals pretending to be conservatives to look bad it was actually conservatives pretending to be liberals pretending to be conservatives so that liberals look like they doing a false flag operation.

ITS SO OBVIOUS WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

Obviously the noose and flag were put there by black students. (Uh, there are black students at Ole Miss, right?)

For those outraged by the mere suggestion of it, here's a recounting of racial hoaxes over the last few years:

A recent history of hate-crime hoaxes | Conservative Intelligence Briefing

There is no excuse for dismissing or ignoring this possiblity.

I think this has become the most likely cause of such incidents. That is, at least when it is expressed in this sort of gross, raw, unmistakable form. There is plenty of racism of the "dogwhistle" sort; i.e., racism that only the especially sensitive sorts can appreciate.

Why would members of a minority fake such things? Perhaps they are not seeing enough real racism these days so they have to make it up. "Victim" is an identity too valuable to give up easily.

It's too bad that the police hold out little hope of catching who did it. Hoaxers tend to repeat, though, so we may yet find out if that's what's going on.

I'm not outraged by the suggestion of it, but you started with that excuse. With no evidence of anything at all, it has to be a false flag - there's no way this was white people. Isn't that slightly prejuidiced in itself?

Maybe you should actually read what I posted rather than try to make an accusation of me dismissing or ignoring the possibility that this is a hoax. Not only did I not do that, I in fact pointed out that it has been the case the past few times we saw this happen within this decade. However, we need more information to know anything. It could be a hoax, but it could also be some jerkwad racists. Or, it could all be some stupid, horrible, in extremely poor taste prank or dare. We simply don't know right now.

Now, I think it is stupid to post a reward for information on this of $25K since all that does is keep the attention there.

No, because hoaxing has become so common.

So you assume from the get go that it's a hoax? Witnesses saw two white guys do it. So your contention is that it's a hoax because....you have other evidence? You're looking for something to blame Liberals for? You just can't wrap your head around the fact that there are still racists in Mississippi? (clearly not everyone, but there's probably some as there are everywhere)

Such gross and stupid incidents of racial incitement often turn out to be false flag operations.

And if you'll check, most instances of political false-flag operations tend to be committed by racists. Remember the girl who etched that backwards 'B' into her face? And how many times have we seen people claim that "some black guy did it" when it turns out they did it themselves?

Yes, there will be times that blacks use false-flag tactics - I've seen it myself. But it's much more often that racists whites do it, just so they can get away with whatever it is that they wanted to do. This is how a lot of blacks got lynched back in the day: "That white girl was raped and killed, so it must have been that n****r who did it!"

And FYI, I grew up about 30 miles from Ole Miss, and I've got family there in Oxford right now...and here's a little experience that might help you to understand what things are like there. The MS Delta has the highest percentage of African-Americans in America - Sunflower County (where my family home is (well, was until earlier this month)) is 71% black. And when I visited there for a couple weeks back in the summer of 2012, when the presidential election campaigning was at its height, guess how many Obama stickers and t-shirts I saw there?

None. Zero, zip, nada.

I asked a close black friend named Eddie (who knows I am a liberal Obama supporter) why this was, and he looked at me with sad eyes, and said, "You know why."

And he was right. I did know why. Because if a black guy were to have an Obama sticker or t-shirt, he or his family members would probably find themselves without jobs in this right-to-work state.

That's the way it is in Mississippi, guy. The whites - many (or perhaps most) of whom are still quite racist (including many in my own family) - still hold the power, both political and economic. And when I say that perhaps most are still racist, a Pew poll back in April of 2011 found that 46% of Republicans in this (heavily Republican) state STILL thought that interracial marriage should still be banned.

So...no, the noose around the statue was almost certainly not a false-flag operation. That's just the way it is in Mississippi. It's getting better, if only slowly, glacially so...but that state has a long, long way to go.

The last time an anonymous hate crime was committed on the Ole Miss Campus was in 2002 when the n-word and other epithets were scrawled around the campus. An investigation found that the perps were liberal black students.

There are scores of cases of liberals staging hate crimes, especially at college campuses. Hate crimes benefits Leftitsts. It creates the illusion of crisis. They demand more power, and it "proves" what a horrible racists place America is.

This latest crime may have been committed by white racists. Whoever did it for whatever reason should be prosecuted. With 300 million people in America, it is unreasonble to expect that there will never be hateful idiots who do this sort of thing. The only reason to promote this incident as a national news story is to smear America and give more power to the Left.

How so very Limbaugh of him. "Oh just kidding!"
