Smith on Iraqi Christians: 'Life appears to be worse now' then under Saddam.

That dream world you live in.... yeah maybe somewhere in our history, but additionally throughout are times when very the very few run our government, our lives, our futures and once again here we are, and Citizen's United has made it all legal. Our pols be they at virtually any level will ultimately, it seems, cave to the 1%.

the polliticans can only get into office by being voted in, and if the people show no support then the politicans have no power

Again you live in a dream world if you think that your pol isn't going to change his/her tune to whatever the 1% tell him/her to change it to upon being in office. Just look at Obama. He campaigns great, then gives over everything to banksters, insurers, ag, oil, and so on. Sorry, wish you were right, but you're not. Not today anyway, perhaps things will change again.

It is far worse to give up with trying. i know the rules of the political game but i refuse to let them fill me with cynicism.

Did anyone suggest giving up trying? I don't recall that. Throwing up some strawmen, eh? However to believe your pol is going to honor his campaign ideals will only work if you vote for someone whose ideals line up with what the 1% want.

the money of the 1% cannot buy every politician, i may be cynical about politicians but i still believe some politicians vote for what their constituents want and not what the monied interests want.

I am and have always been anti-bully. If that makes me anti-American, it's a reflection of USofA. I have no problem with my position

No, it does not make you anti-American. It's where people go when your hitting a raw spot. People don't like evil pointed out amongst their own. It's far easier to label that person UN-American/anti-American and tell them if they don't like it, why don't they just leave. Your in good shape Summerwind!

Was the point of the Iraq invasion to promote Christianity?

The Iraqi adventure was for the purpose of ridding the country of phantom WMD, primarily as stated and humanitarian as a secondary goal. Both quite obviously a joke now to everyone. Well, almost apparently.

So what do Christians and their plight have to do with anything?

Absolutely nothing, a few just gathered together here to celebrate the successes of the Iraqi mission.

While true, I'd rather that we just act appropriately and diplomatically instead of engaging in gross interventionism to feed the power and wealth of the Republocrats and the Corporations they support.

Unfortunately patronizing Americans stand in the way of that. So we'll see more of it. Do you think if Americans were willing to hold political leaders accountable, even within their own party that we'd be talking abut this, no.
