Russia May Hit Back at Saudi Arabia for Volgogard Attacks

If True, I wonder what Russia would do. With the US pulling back from the blanket support of Saudi Arabia, Russia could do a limited strike on Saudi Arabia, one of its cruise missile ships could fire a full volley at a few Saudi targets, (if it was the oil export terminal, Russia could gain some significant short term economic benefits

Russian intelligence has now reportedly obtained solid proof that Saudi Arabia was directly involved in the twin terror attacks on the city of Volgograd.
The attacks killed more than 32 people and injured over 100 others. Most of the victims were civilians.According to an informed Russian official source, reported by the Fars News Agency, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has informed President Vladimir Putin of the Saudi link to the Volgograd massacre. This will come as no surprise to Putin. The Russian leader was warned by the Saudi intelligence chief Prince Bandar Bin Sultan during a heated four-hour private meeting back in July that Wahhabi-sponsored terrorists based in the North Caucasus region of Russia would be targeting the Sochi Winter Olympics

Given that it was reported a few months ago that Bandar did threaten Putin with the words that Saudi controls the islamist rebels in the caucus region, it certainly makes sense that Saudi Arabia either ordered or provided support to the attackes

Saudi Arabia might be an ally, but it is not a friend. It wouldn't bother me one iota if, given irrefutable evidence the Saudis were involved, Russia decided to shove a few missiles up some Saudi ass.

Unfortunately, I have no idea if our government would turn into a bunch of hand-wringing pansies and get itself involved, rather than staying on the sidelines with a "well, you asked for it" attitude.

You're right, there certainly was a threat that proceeded this attack. Not that that alone would implicate SA. I would hope there would be full investigation, not just Bush style accusations, but then if it were in the end determined that it was an SA job, how could anyone condemn a Russian response.

Saudi Arabia has a pretty big air force. Putin better come prepared.

I wonder if Vladimir Putin remembers who's loyal to the Saudi King ?

But then again, if Obama was willing to throw a long time ally (President Mubarak) under the bus who protected Israels south flank and helped keep the peace in the Middle East, Putin also may have taken that in consideration.

An ally?!?!?! How is it that one dictator is an ally and the next is, well, a dictator?

The timeline for the various reports is a bit confusing.

back in 2010 the Saudi based Council of Supreme Scholars issued a fatwa denouncing all acts of terrorism and criminalized financing terrorists. the term for the 'sin' was Kafer, or infidel. second lowest rung in the demon's pit.

According to the OP,supposedly in July of last year Putin was having a heated discussion with 'Prince' Bandar over any potential terrorist attacks during the games. But it is reported the threats from Bandar came in August, could be a case of vague and contradictory 'reports' by the usual un-named sources. All of this against a back drop of reports of a secret flight to Russia to work out a monopoly on gas and oil in the region.

Later it is reported in October the same year, Bandar and Putin are all smiles as Bandar warns of a major shift away from the USofA over the Iranian talks and a failure to take Syria's Assad out. (I remember this because the usual CON ranters were silly upset that Obama was 'losing' the Middle East.)

So given all the crap flying around it is difficult to know what is actually being said by any of the major players.

While Putin and most of the major players are playing chess, does Obama continue to play checkers ?

I doubt you have a clue what our President is doing. If it doesn't have something to do with women in the Military you seem lost.

I'd opine playing checkers is better than what President BushII did which was mostly just playing with himself. But given all the contradictory 'intel' being spun I'd say Obama is playing poker and keeping his cards close to his chest- though that won't stop the CONs from making crap up.

The dates for all this would indicate no one is playing chess, but a few muckrackers are trying to stir the pot.

I read an article not to long ago about a meeting between Putin and Saudi " intelligence" chief prince bander ( he is the guy who financially supports alqaeda militants in Syria ). He told Putin if he stops supporting Assad he would reward Russia handsomely and said he could guarantee the Olympics in Russia would not suffer a terrorist attack because he basically admitted he controls those groups in Russia, like the Chechens who are also currently in Syria and on his payroll. And of course he hinted to Putin of the consequences if he did not agree, which of course meant bombings in Russia.

Yep! That's the threat I referenced earlier.

Obama playing poker ? :2rofll:

Obama didn't even have enough experience to throw anything into the pot.

In fact Obama isn't even in the picture.

What's the date of the picture?

Artist brings the presidents to life in series of paintings - News - Morning Sun - Pittsburg, KS

This article on that painting (and there is also one of Democratic presidents doing the same thing) is from Oct. 1, 2008 -- about a month before Obama was elected. Shocking.

The paintings were completed in spring 2007. Thomas said the idea for the works came at the suggestion of Somerset Fine Arts, the San Antonio-based company that distributes his works to dealers.

This is too easy sometimes.

This story is not passing the smell test.

Why exactly would Saudi Arabia start **** with Russia? What would be in it for them? Or are they so incredibly stupid that they would incite combat with Russia? I can tell you who will win and so can they.

One thing's for sure, the idea of Russia attacking SA is pretty far fetched.

From the article you linked to Kobie.

>"Thomas originally had Nixon with his typically dour expression, hiding his cards, not letting anyone see them. “And it was funny, but that just feeds on Richard Nixon jokes, and that’s not what this was about,” Thomas said."<

In the real world, Nixon was probably the best poker player of all Presidents in modern times. If it weren't for poker and WW ll, Nixon would have never had a political career.

Nixon was a naval officer during WW ll. While in the US Navy during World War II, he won $6000 in his first two months playing poker. He used his winnings to fund his first campaign for congress.

>"By contrast, Eisenhower's vice-president Richard Nixon by most accounts apparently possessed the killer instinct when it came to poker. Despite being raised a Quaker and thus taught to avoid gambling as sinful, Nixon famously became a highly successful poker player while serving in the Navy during WWII, with many of those who played with him then describing him as not only the best player among the officers, but the best they'd ever seen..."<

We're playing chess, but the game pretty much plays itself. American foreign policy has little to do with Obama personally; he acts out the moves that the situation calls for given our commitments and position in the world.

See:

Emphasis on the third maxim, Shi -- the position, not the ruler, is the ultimate source of power in political society.

Tell that to Mubarak.

i'm hardly sympathetic to comrade putin or mother russia either these days. They can shove missiles up each other's asses, all good.

Nobody cares. You got caught again.

Tell that to Mubarak.

Yea, that makes so much sense.

We have been sending Egypt $8b annually for years, and have received nothing.

Gosh, I seem to recall the Shah of Iran, and the same results. Oopsie.

Spin again.
