Using government agencies such as the IRS, in order to silence opponents, has been denied or defended by many as well. We can see the same thing happening with Obamacare. The government and their unappointed Czars,and the bureaucracy, is now stronger than the people

An intelligent electorate, which would necessarily be a responsible electorate, would reject any politicians who used government agencies to further its political agendas, who investigated reporters for their reportage, who covered up major controversial events over the years, who engaged in crony capitalism, and who had put the country trillions of dollars in debt.

Now maybe I'm wrong and it's smart sophisticated people who are allowing this to happen to their country, or maybe the standards vary from area to area. It does seem a strange way to run a country though.

Hell no it's not OK but, it happens far too regularly.

The press use keep the Pols and the government in-line. Now it's more the other way around.

Good points. My statement though is true, just as most leftists think they are more intelligent than conservatives. And the ND is owned by both parties. A truly intelligent electorate wouldn't be partisan first, and that's the problem.

Yes Monte.....do you think the MS media and their reporters, journalists, and anchors understand that the American people don't have to put up with their Laying in Bed with the Politicians who are suppose to be serving yet have the mindset that they are the elite.

When nothing else works to get these people Right.....what do you think that leaves as the final solution?

Do you think the Pencil and paper pushers.....like the useless profession of Attorneys. Can handle what will come their way?

Please, this is not about George Bush. And no, Conservative is not a synonym for intelligent. But a responsible electorate has to be sure that budgets are presented, a proper accounting done, people held responsible, and so on. This is not a right wing/left wing thing but a what is best for the country and it's people thing.

And we saw that many Americans will turn on each other before they will accuse Muslims of bad behavior. The US President is probably the best example of this.

I didn't keep up with American media during the events so I couldn't tell, fortunately though this has nothing to do with the original quote.

It is a left/right thing. EVERYTHING in Washington is. Nobody on either side wants the truth to come out. Obama will look foolish, but not not impeachable. If the truth came out, hearings would be over, and the last thing Issa wants is to lose his stage in an election year.

Yes, the Democrats and the Republicans were for it. When the Democrats turned against it for political reasons than the media did as well.

It is a left/right thing. EVERYTHING in Washington is. Nobody on either side wants the truth to come out. Obama will look foolish, but not not impeachable. If the truth came out, hearings would be over, and the last thing Issa wants is to lose his stage in an election year.

That doesn't mean the public has to be a left/right thing. They should be holding their politicians responsible and not just cheering on their side no matter how incompetent and dishonest they are. If you have an irresponsible electorate then an irresponsible government will naturally follow. That's the situation now, and there doesn't appear to be any sign of change.

And the media went along with the Bush administration's narrative, which I'd call pretty "compliant." The Democrats wised up on that war after a couple of years when it was obvious that the narrative wasn't true.
