His policies are allowing this to happen. Who the **** ever heard of drawing unemployment for 99 weeks until this ****tty administration? Disability is easier now that ever to get on, I didn't know anyone on it before Obama, I bet I know 50+ now. This lazy **** society better wake up.

The real cases continue, the ones that are out riding motorcycles, fishing, and basically enoying life as if retired, cut their asses off and make them pay back what they have drawn. Make an example out of the few the program would correct itself.

It stands to reason that those drawing disability would be at an all time high: the US population is at an all-time high and we are getting older. The idea that the average benefit is at an all time high also somewhat stands to reason, as costs go up. That is if you really could call a $16.09 increase over a $1,134.34 base a real increase... its less than 1.5%.

Combine that with unemployment benefits as debt increases equals disaster. I feel sorry for people that think the shrinking middle class can continue to carry this load.

They can not.... its time to get past this myth that cutting the highest marginal tax rates is good for the economy... it only cuts the taxes of the wealthy, encourages a bifurcation of our economy into rich and poor and weakens the economy overall. Its time to return to 50% tax rates on incomes over $1M.

Before Obama, Unemployment was an insurance that your and your employer paid into, you collected YOUR money.

With Obama's Extended Unemployment Contributions, the equation that sorts out how much you get based on how much you paid in becomes irrelevant, you just get the same amount for far more time than your paid for.

I collected Unemployment insurance once, when it was just that, insurance. Now its welfare.

So now Obama controls the dissability program directly? Again, you are reaching here. Yes, unemployment beneifts happened EVEN UNDER BUSH. So to claim Obama miraculously made EVERYONE go on disability is idiotic. As for your "I didn't know anyone on dissability" BS, I knew several UNDER BUSH.

Did you blame Obama for the heavy snowfall too?

The cause is not Obama. As the baby boomers age and the SS retirement age increases it is only natural that more will become unable to work (disabed). Disability is easier to claim for the old and less educated; if you are old, get ino bad physical shape, have been working in pysically demanding jobs and are deemed unlikely to be retrainable (due to little prior educartion) then disability retirement simply makes sense.

What this obviously biased article does not tell you is that the growth of the number of people on disability is at its lowest rates in well over a decade. It has recorded it lowest rates of increases of disability for the last 2 years. It also does not tell you that the rate of growth under President Obama is about 1.2% less over his 5 year tenure when compared to President Bush. Also not discussed is the FACT that under President Obama there has been a record increase in the number of benefit terminations.
