New House Resolution Calls for Declassifying Secret Portion of 9/11 Report

Wow....very religious-sounding.

He might be a religious man?

But I share his gratitude for the men who wrote the document. That they took the time to discuss so many details, and involved historical precedents in their deliberations, that's a good thing, and I am fortunate to have been born in this country. The founding document, the product of a refinement of government, as a previous model had failed.

I'm ashamed of the government, but I love the country.

Right, right, until you think that body isn't doing what you want and want to create another.
Will cross that bridge when we come to it... this one is not working now, so just keep on keeping on over the current collapsed bridge? Doesn't sound particularly prudent.

It's your opinion that it's not working. Don't present it as fact.

Sure. So here we wait.
No,no no... sitting here waiting...that is if you are going the way I propose. The way you say it should be done has you and us crossing that broken and collapsed bridge blindfolded with your trusted classified, top secret, information "navigators" guiding you all the way.

Good luck with that.

No,no no... sitting here waiting

Yeah, there is. It's what you're doing.

I have a clearance, I'm not being guided. I'm guiding you. You don't have a choice. The people you voted for approved it.

Yikes, better implement my plan post haste. Actually, if I knew you and your stance on things a bit better, I might just trust you. But with what you have said in this thread, I have my grave doubts now.

So tell me, what exactly was it that Obama was doing during all those hours during the Benghazi attacks. Who gave the orders to stand down... or who was it that didn't order planes and additional security forces over there to at least scare the holy crap outta those rabid AQ types that killed our ambassador and three other brave Americans. None of that is or should be classified even...

And what about those 28 pages...?

We went over the 28 pages. I don't care about Benghazi and it's not the topic.

We didn't go over jack didley with regards to those 28 pages... I know nothing more about them now than when the OP started this merry go round. Just circular logic that never goes anywhere, too close-too far, oversight this oversight that, you interpret what I am saying incorrectly several times as, it seems now, in an effort to put me off the actual point, never giving once into anything solid, just the mantra, "trust your government, trust your government, trust your government..you elected them...." like a bad dream.

No wonder we don't trust our government. And there have been way too many instances where the people who knew, who should have said something, didn't... and we found out way way after the fact. What we need is a fail-safe, but we got none.

You know, if we, the people, lose faith in the integrity of the system, the system fails anyhow.

We didn't go over jack didley with regards to those 28 pages...

I told you that they cover either sources or means and method of intelligence collection (or both). That's why things get classified.

That, an obfuscating answer, is eerily similar to your other hollowed out answers. What you call going over the 28 pages is you saying nothing can be said about them... Don't know where or how you grew up, but that sure isn't going over over the 28 pages to my satisfaction.

By not answering, conceding the integrity collapses, system collapses posit? Now being past the trust your govt blah blah,... exactly where does it go from there?

Do it. Its about time we heard the whole truth. And it is also about time that Obama was transparent.

That's not obfuscating, that's an answer. Your satisfaction isn't really important. Things aren't randomly made public just because you're curious.

It goes nowhere. It doesn't need to. You vote for leaders, they appoint people and hire them and whatnot. That's the system. You just don't like it. That's all.

Sure its obfuscating...you flat out said we can't get an answer, yes, but you also put it like this:
We went over the 28 pages.
making it sound, implying as if we had, indeed, resolved what was in them. No, I agree, my individual satisfaction may not be important, most obviously not to you... but our, we, the American public's satisfaction is obligatory.

If it was just and worked, I would like it. I don't like systems prone to corruption. The one we rely upon should move in sync with the people, not the people being dragged blindly towards what they do not know. The people in power should always be aware, they are accountable to us. The inverted pyramid, we its girth, the solid weight above the point chiseling, then carrying out our laws. Our will, not theirs.

We went over the topic. They're classified because of sources and methods and/or means. The topic was covered.

Who do you think works in these agencies? Some mythical, monolithic "them"? They're just regular people, doing a job.

They're classified because of sources and methods and/or means.

1) Do you know that for a fact?
2) Do you know the section of the report that is classified?

1) Yeah. That's why things are classified.

2) Nah.

1) Yeah. That's why things are classified.

2) Nah.

1) Bull****. The government also classifies information that is embarrassing or would make it look bad I.e. dirty laundry.

2) Specific sources of foreign support

Yeah yeah yeah.

Ahh, so it fufills your standards to your satisfaction, eh? Oh, and I remember, i remember, already.

Reminds me of wondering why people seem to hate and fear big business more than goverment, big government...when it should be the other way around. I worked at Sears in the Credit Department. They said, "Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed" and they meant it, maybe even too much. As a young credit supervisor it used to irk me to no end when, for instance, a snow bird would come down at the beginning of the summer and buy a lawn mower on credit, use it all summer and turn it back in at the end of the summer wanting a credit on their account... I would go to one of my managers and he/she would invariably say, "Satisfaction Guaranteed"

Not so our govt...Govt just pretty much tells us to go screw ourselves a lot of the time... then they can tax you, make laws against you, use their enforcement arms, they can obtain all your records... but if you don't like a business, dont like their product, you can go elsewhere...not so with government.

And..

I am one of them doing a job too... and we already went over the monolithic stuff...

And none of this refutes anything I said. It just boils down to "I don't like it, the government is bad".

Has a bit more to do with active and vigilant citizenry... boils down to that's what you don't like... I am quite sure there are some things that should, indeed, remain in safekeeping, but I am also quite sure that a lot of it shouldn't be.
