Marijuana: Toke Up on Mold, Insects and Manure - YahooSome may tout marijuana as a safe, recreational drug with valuable medicinal properties, but toke up your joint and it likely contains mold, pesticides, even dead insects, according to researchers at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
In their genetic studies of marijuana, the researchers found a variety of nasty byproducts in the plant: fungi, mildew and even such bacterial contaminants as e-coli and salmonella.
not sure if I put this in the right forum; but if ew are going to use marijuana for medical uses - it's time for the states to provide some quality control.
I would imagine Big Pharma is working on things like Sativex to crowd out the plant market -
afterall much more profits in pill forum then going to all the trouble of ensuiring pharmaceutical grade weeds to be sold.
But until the "whole plant" ( ALL or MOST of the cannibinoids) can be delivered in an oral spray, or pill - smoking marijuna is still the only way to get the benefits of the hundreds of canninbinoids.
Time for the states to step up, and time for the Fed's to just re-schedule marijuana down from a Schedule 1 drug.
(Way past time on the Fed's)
PS> I smoked from 1968, to a few years ago, never had any problems, but I might have just got lucky.
I quit because I'm old, and don't want the hot gasses anymore
