You ever seen one of those news articles that, no matter your political leaning, just pisses you off? Well, I found one:

Gov. Walker Urges Parents to Skip Toys and Send the Christmas Money to Him

That's right folks! Gov. Walker (Rep) of Wisconsin wants you to send that money you planned to spend for toys, to his political campaign. This is what the campaign email said:

Email from Friends of Scott Walker's Taylor Palmisano said:
"Instead of electronics or toys that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season, help give your children the gift of a Wisconsin that we can all be proud of."

Just... wow.

Send it to me instead. That'll teach that mean sunbitch a lesson. PM me for mailing information. Minimum donation $10. May cause constipation.

Seems stupid, but I don't see anything to get upset about it. It seems to me it was a bad attempt at marketing humor by someone who clearly wasn't very funny.

No wonder The Onion is shutting down. Truth is stranger than fiction.

What a penis.

So it appears this was the work of an aid who has been fired.

From the same link:

UPDATE: Walker's campaign has fired the aide who sent this email, Taylor Palmisano, for an unrelated incident involving tweets demeaning Hispanics, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Look I don't like Walker as a politician, but even I have a hard time believing a politician would commit political suicide like this.

What a douche.

I don't see the problem.

It will only piss of children, and they don't vote.

<Sarcasm off>

Actually, I think it will PO their parents, too, and they do vote.

At least, it should.

Reminds me of when Obama asked all of his supporters to forgo wedding gifts and birthday presents in favor of Obama campaign donations.

How soon we distort...

Funny how he had no problem getting that page to work. ;)

What a douche.

Yeah, not like your beloved Dear Leader!

{ Got a birthday, anniversary, or wedding coming up?

Let your friends know how important this election is to you—register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift.

It’s a great way to support the President on your big day.

Plus, it’s a gift that we can all appreciate—and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl.

Well, that about does it for this thread. Good job, everyone.

I can see CONs scrambling to find an equiv. The need is a tad desperate as the claiming it asked supporters to forgo gifts, when in reality it asks for PART of the money to be sent to the election fund. Also this wasn't a directed Email like in the Walker case, but rather a blog post. the part of your spending to be directed to something other than gifts is used in many marketing groups. A direct Email attacking your gift selections and asking you to instead of providing ANY gifts to your children you should send the money to a politician, not just part, is a tad different.

But let's focus- one is a broad based appeal for SOME of the disposable income, one a highly targeted one for ALL the gift money with a bonus insult of bad mouthing the gifts you would buy.

Anywho, the part I found interesting is the aide,(real hottie for sure)- guess Walker saw her credentials right off the bat- who ran the 'Friends of Scott Walker' campaign had a rather nasty opinion of Mexicans and was quite happy to share (complete with F bombs- maybe Walker likes 'em to talk dirty) via Tweetin' in 2011. But even more interesting is a very close member of the Walker team, the asst dept of DOT (a Walker political appointee) Steve Kriesser was fired a few weeks ago for an offensive and repugnant facebook defense of a hunting season on illegal immigrants bumper sticker. He claimed to see Satan in the illegal immigrants.

So it seems Walker has hired a few bigots to help him govern, and maintain his spot at the public trough.

I would love to hear what some of the kids who would be stiffed on Christmas in order to fill Governor Walker's pockets think about this idea.

Oh my goodness, someone actually HAS tried to differentiate the two...
