NY Post "cooked jobs numbers" story debunked, hard

So you're familiar with his work? I didn't know anything about him, so I Googled. Found very little, so that would be great if you'd share what you know.

With whose work?

Uh, the "bozo" you said couldn't help but mislead?

The NY Post columnist? I hadn't seen any of his work before this story. So now I've seen two of his pieces.

He's 2-for-2 regarding publishing misleading bull****.

That's why I asked. How do you know that he can't help but mislead if you've read only two of his pieces and know as little as I do about him?

10 out of 100 unemployed is 10%, which is HIGHER THAN THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WAS AT THE TIME. Hence, rate goes up. Learn to math.

where are you getting this 10% numbner from?... it doesn't seem to be in any article... it seem to be something you are making up.

what is established is that julius was creating people out of thin air and giving them jobs.....which would decrease the unemployment rate in his area ( not sure it would have much effect, if at all) on the national number

I'm speaking hypothetically. The columnist is claiming that the falsely submitted forms definitely would have adjusted the rate downward, and that's not the case.

He's not off to a very good start, OK? It's a bad first impression is all. Geez.

the story is seen as negatively impacting the Obama administration( somehow)...and we all know how Democrats/liberals react to that sort of stuff..... facts be damned, they attack.

creating people out of thin air and giving them jobs will effect the rate downward... that's a given.

are their scenarios where fabricating data could drive the rate upwards?..sure.... those scenarios weren't at play though.....well, according ot hte article anyways.... but meh, everything in the article is fake, so there ya go.

Bah. As always, people who want to believe a story is true will believe it despite evidence to the contrary, and people who don't want to believe a story is true will disbelieve it despite evidence to the contrary. The vast majority of people look at any news story/event through the prism of partisan bias and will not change their opinion regardless of what contradictory evidence surfaces in the future.

Last week, many conservatives on this site and around the interwebs gleefully chimed in on another "Obama scandal" -- this time, a New York Post column, based on an anonymous source and the confirmed chicanery of Census worker Julius Buckmon (story can be found here), alleged that the Census bureau cooked the jobs numbers in the run-up to the 2012 election, presumably to grease the skids for Obama's re-election.

Turns out that Exhibit A in columnist John Cruedele's expose on chicanery at Census was ... well, calling it bull**** would be an insult to actual bull****.

A bogus NY Post piece sets off a frenzy : Columbia Journalism Review

But, of course, none of this matters. The right wing has jumped to conclusions without any facts (AGAIN), and now it's part of the right-wing zeitgeist that Obama ****ed around with the jobs numbers before the election.

You jut posted someone opinion, and you failed to discredit the original story.

And you started a thread and everything....

The fact that the guy hasn't been at Census since 2011 and has nothing to do with any "book cooking" is decidedly not "someone's opinion." That's a fact, jack.

Everyone who had an ounce of integrity knew the jobs numbers, prior to the election were manipulated. I mean C'mon, it's Obama and the Democrats that we're talking about here.

NOW the manipulations gone from miscalculations by complicit Census workers, to dishonest Liberals touting job growth as they ignore a near record drop in the Labor Participation Rate.

One way or the other, the average Middle-class American is the one that gets to take it in the pants.

Has the clear ring of partisan bull****. Produce the links.

LOL !!

Yea right, 5 years under Obama and poverty's shot up 16%, food stamp use and disability claims have doubled with labor participation rates nearing record lows. You people have been supporting a liar since 2008, making excuses for him, mitigating his failures.

Always on the defensive aren't you ?

Someone should have informed you that there is a price to be paid for following a political party that appeals exclusively to the lowest common denominator.

A fun little rant that has positively nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

And look at who took the bait and it wasn't even being trolled, it was just drifting.

I wonder if I used my rock cod rod what kind of bottom feeders will take the bait ?

Exactly as I thought. No links. I'm a Green and you have been denominated, by your own words.

I don't care if there's links, it's that Fenton doesn't understand WHY we have many of the economic issues we do. And if you asked him, his ignorant answer would be "Obama."

Anyone with a lick of common sense knows voters don't look at the jobs report to determine how they will vote.

Democrat voters don't, that's for sure. As a matter of fact, all it takes to get the likes of you and your ilk's vote is a bunch of nonsensical empty platitudes.

Many business owners in the private sector look at the jobs report.

I don't think anyone in the Obama administration pays any real attention to the real numbers in the jobs report. They'll cook the numbers in behalf of Obama. if they need to.

The recession ended in June of 2009 and 3 years and 5 months later the unemployment numbers are still over 7% !!! Something is wrong.
Is this suppose to be the new norm or just for another three more years ?

More partisan hackery.
