Well...

Progress I suppose.

Well...

Progress I suppose.

That slipped by me. Thanks.

The launch of the program comes almost a year after Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn signed a law creating the specialized license, officially known as the temporary visitor driver's license. Unlike standard driver's licenses, they cannot be used as a form of identification for purposes such as boarding a plane, voting or buying a gun.

The D/L will, however, allow them to obtain insurance. That is surely a step in the right direction. Can't hurt that they have to take a test either.

The funny part was that the republicans were trying to have "different" licenses for the illegals but the progressive democrats in our state legislator went bat**** and called that racist - so apparently illegal alies get the same DL's driver or individual attempting to acquire would get as if they were a legal... ........

The partisanship and pandering of this nation is unprecedented.

Do you have a link for that? I thought they were different....? According to the link I copied from above, they are. ??

LOL, another state that just made their entire population's driver's licenses useless for boarding a plane. These make me laugh.

Again, what documentation will an illegal use to obtain this drivers license, and if you think an illegal will buy car insurance, you are crazy.

Will the license be taken away when they are caught driving without insurance?

Well, if California's pandering is any indicator, there will be relatively nothing required to obtain a drivers license, so expect a bunch of 18 year olds buying booze, and it's been policy in Los Angeles to let unlicensed illegal alien drivers without insurance go, with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Of course a legal citizen will be fined, and possibly have their car impounded. I know if I was driving around without a license and insurance, my name would be a bit different when I gave it to the police.

next they will be giving them CCLs

2nd Amendment rights, like all rights, come from our Creator. So unless Mexicans have a different Creator, they have the same rights. Don't they?

illegals, absolutely not

and how many dumb ass DMV workers are going to register them to vote while they're there?

When did aiding and abetting criminals become progress ?

How is allowing them to drive "aiding and abetting?" This is why DL's should not be the catch all "proof of citizenship" ID. They should be about your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

You want to change the system and créate a whole new system to accomadate a group of people that should not be here in the first place?

We will go back to what kind of documents will an ilegal use to get the drivers license to prove his age and residence?

Sincé most drivers licenses are tied to the social security number, what will be used with an illegal?

I don't really think this will do anything anyway, because illegals don't follow the law, so why would they start to follow this one?

Most of them will probably think it is a trap by ICE anyway.

No, I think a driver's license should be what it says -- a license to drive a car.

I don't think you've thought of the law enforcement benefit - Person gets pulled over, no license, turns out to be illegal....it beats the heck out of racial profiling.

How are DLs "tied to an SSN?" It doesn't appear anywhere on mine...

Second amendment rights do not come from "the creator". They are established/granted by constitutional law/mandate.

Believe you are a little confused in your hyperbole.....

They aren't suppose to be here. If they entered the United States illegally they are criminals under federal statue.

What part of "illegal" aren't they teaching in our schools today ?

By awarding these criminals divers licenses so they could move more freely avoiding capture is aiding and abetting.

If a convicted felon were to escape from a penal institution and he approaches you seeking help to avoid capture and you feed him, give him shelter for the night, you committed a crime, by aiding and abetting the escaped convict. If you voluntarily give him the keys to your car so he can move more freely avoiding capture your aiding and abetting the convict.

What does the state of Illinois plan to use to identify who these illegal aliens are they pocess a valid passport ? If they are from Mexico or Central America, I doubt it. A Mexican birth certificate isn't recognized as a valid form of identifications if you know any thing about Mexico or most of Latin America. Many illegal alies have established alias, they aren't who they really are.

Most illegal aliens have committed more than one crime than just illegally violating America's sovereignty.

The Myth of the “Otherwise Law-Abiding” Illegal Alien

>" For years advocates of amnesty and high levels of immigration have described the illegal alien population as one made up of "otherwise law-abiding" people who have committed no violation other than the simple act of crossing a border illegally or overstaying a visa.1 Journalists routinely invoke this language when writing about amnesty, conspicuously avoiding any discussion of the various crimes the average working illegal alien commits. Many politicians have also embraced the myth of the otherwise law-abiding illegal alien in an effort to promote amnesty, arguing that illegal aliens are no threat to the United States.2

But the average illegal alien violates numerous statutes, often creating real victims.

This Backgrounder details the many statutes the average illegal alien who is simply "here to work" may be violating. The violations include laws involving the entry, presence, and travel of illegal aliens as well as laws related to employment such as perjury and identity theft. Examples of oft-violated but under-enforced laws include: "<

The findings include:

Experts suggest that approximately 75 percent of working-age illegal aliens use fraudulent Social Security cards to obtain employment.

•Most (98 percent) Social Security number (SSN) thieves use their own names with stolen numbers. The federal E-Verify program, now mandated in only 14 states, can detect this fraud. Universal, mandatory use of E-Verify would curb this and stop virtually 100 percent of child identity theft.

•Illegal immigration and high levels of identity theft go hand-in-hand. States with the most illegal immigration also have high levels of job-related identity theft. In Arizona, 33 percent or all identity theft is job-related (as opposed to identity theft motivated simply by profit). In Texas it is 27 percent; in New Mexico, 23 percent; in Colorado, 22 percent; California, 20 percent; and in Nevada, 16 percent. Eight of the 10 states with the highest percentage of illegal aliens in their total population are among the top 10 states in identity theft (Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, Nevada, New York, Georgia, and Colorado).

•Children are prime targets. In Arizona, it is estimated that over one million children are victims of identity theft. In Utah, 1,626 companies were found to be paying wages to the SSNs of children on public assistance under the age of 13. These individuals suffer very real and very serious consequences in their lives.

•Illegal aliens commit felonies in order to get jobs. Illegal aliens who use fraudulent documents, perjure themselves on I-9 forms, and commit identity theft in order to get jobs are committing serious offenses and are not “law abiding.”

•Illegally employed aliens send billions of dollars annually to their home countries, rather than spending it in the United States and helping stimulate the American economy. In October 2008 alone, $2.4 billion was transferred to Mexico.

You were not asked for your SSN when you applied for your license? That number is the main identifier in the US right now.

I can tell you that Mexicans do not follow the law in their own country so I don't know why anybody would think they would follow it in another country.

I can tell you that Mexicans do not follow the law in their own country so I don't know why anybody would think they would follow it in another country.

When any immigrant legally migrates to another country they bring their customs, culture, language, habits (good and bad) and politics with them.

All you have to do is look at how many local municipality mayors, city council member and city managers have been arrested and convicted for corruption in the past couple of decades in California. (City of Bell, Cudahy, Bellflower, San Fernando...) They all have something in common, Spanish surnames. You look a little further and you discover they were awarded amnesty in the past or are anchor babies. They brought Mexican political corruption to America.

When the current Obama administration closes down national war memorials and parks and denies American citizens and vets access to these monuments while at the same time allows illegal aliens access to the closed National Mall where they don't ask but DEMAND amnesty, citizenship and free stuff, something is wrong in America.

America's immigration policies are suppose to be what's best for America and it's citizens. Not what's best for the immigrant or one political party.
