Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said on Wednesday that he supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, meaning the entire Democratic caucus is now unified behind the legislation that would make it illegal to discriminate against LGBT individuals in the workplace.

The bill now has the support of every single Democratic senator. Sen.-elect Cory Booker (D-N.J.), who will be sworn in on Thursday, is also expected to back it. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) are the only two Republican co-sponsors, although both Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) voted the bill out of committee. On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced that he would be bringing ENDA up for a vote by Thanksgiving. The bill could come to the floor as early as next week.

Unfortunatley dont expect this bill to pass the house...

As long as they keep the military exclusion in regards to transgenders and include firm definitions of religious institutions (as opposed to Obamacare), I'm fine with it.

Wait, isn't discrimination already illegal?

The federal government really should learn to keep its nose out of issues that rightfully should be dealt with at the State level.

Public accommodation laws are a violation of human rights. It is very upsetting to me that many people in the country can't understand this.

It is a good thing when a bill that violates the rights of people fails to pass. It is however a sign of the countries failures when such a bill is even considered.

So it's your logic that it is a violation of human rights not to be able to discriminate gays, blacks, etc.

Got it :doh

Well, democrats, progressives and socialists adhere to the philosophy of collectivism...

Yes to the collective farm!!
How does this have to do with "collectivism" (whatever that means in this context)

I'd vote "Yes" on EDNA if it applied to government entities, not a problem with that.

On the other hand I'd have to vote "No" on this bill and would like like to see a bill to repeal Title II of the Civil Rights act of 1964 as the Federal government shouldn't be dictating to private businesses who they serve or don't serve. (IMHO).

Was there a purpose in you responding to me?

Why yes. It wasn't for you, it was to show others how crazy your argument is. I was correct.

There is nothing crazy about saying people have the right to not employ or do business with anyone they desire. Read the US constitution sometime.

The one where black people only count as three-fifths of "real" people?

That has nothing to do with anything I was talking about.

I have and everything I said has been upheld. Maybe you should read it.

I'm more than aware of it. Do you have anything to say worth saying?

Go ahead and tell me how the laws gets past the 1st and 13th amendment. I'll wait.

It's been upheld. It's up to YOU to show why they are wrong.

Exactly. The laws violate the 1st and 13th amendment.

The laws don't violate the 1st or 13th. They have been upheld, it's up to you to show them wrong.
